So what exactly is the point of this thread then?
You cry too much, and you don't have any followers ( per say), just drop it already The Majority doesn't want your suggestion, so stop trying to presude them otherwise because with like where the current battle system is going. If you don't like it then leave theres the dorr on your lift, If you don't want to leave I kindly ask you to stop trying to presude people that don't want your suggestion, you made you point, but your point to the Majority don't want it, in fact You only trying to please yourself instead of thinking about what anyone else wants, only you.
( Yes I'm at the point to where you ticking me off and I been very calm to this point)
Thank you
Starlord Ravine~ Your Friendly Moogle!
Majority of FF players didn't want jump, but majority of MMO and non-MMO players would want jump.
Anyone can use the "majority" argument to suit themselves.
Honestly I'd rather have the random "Dodged" pop up to tell me I dodged something. Does that make me boring? No... The only reason I would like that is for the nostalgia of the old JRPG set up that the Final Fantasy series basically created. If the genre doesn't demand flair don't add it, as just over complicates things.
Pikachu I can understand your point, but your point is directed for a different genre of games, go play those instead.
ULTIMATE TROLL THREAD!!
but seriously thats not going to change....EVER for this game so either deal with it or move on.
then go play wow and stop making me want to /facepalm after reading your jumping and dodging fetish... if u want jump and dodge go play and traffic...
tera ftw, though from what i understand it is having same problems as this game>< such a shame. seriously do they need to make laws that set standards to mmo's so that they can't launch empty and broken? cause so far my last 2mmo's and the one i wanted to go to is broken. wtf.
TERA isnt having same problems as FFXIV, lol.
Nobody says TERA's UI is laggy.
Or that there aren't mounts.
Or that the zones are copy-paste, etc.
Woooooooooooooooooooooooow this is the best troll thread I've seen yet. How witty of you to say you want to play the game but you like nothing about it. At least be a decent troll like User123456789. They actually make valid points. Sometimes. The game your looking for is a complete different genre. You are banished from FFXIV be gone bridge dweller.
Main criticism of Tera is that there isn't much to do besides combat, and combat isn't as diverse as people have hoped. In this regard, it really is quite similar to XIV.
GuildWars 2 and Blade&Soul are the next MMOs to use active combat, since TOR decided to play it safe and more or less copy WoWs/EQs combat design.
I don't have time to read the other 179 replies (at time of posting) but:
What OP is suggesting would mean a 100% revision of the combat gameplay in all aspects. It would have to be entirely re-coded from the ground up in order to be an action game. Personally while I'm a fan of faster-paced action games, that's not why I started playing this game. If I wanted that I'd just go play Vindictus or any of the dozens upon dozens of console action games.
While I'm not saying the suggestion is bad, it's not a viable one for this game.
::waves hand:: This is not the game you are looking for...
How is it that people act like this is the only game in the world and somehow has to cater to every player of any given genre?
If you don't like this game for what it is, then move on. Go play something else. There are plenty of games out there. Something will satisfy you. If it isn't this game, that's fine. Stop badgering the devs for catering to the people who actually like it and the direction in which it's heading.
Stop asking stupid things to be shoe-horned into a game clearly not meant to have it. Just load the character select screen, choose delete, then go to http://www.square-enix.com/na/account/ and delete that too.
I think it comes from how the devs listened to the community in the past and changed the game to what most players wanted. Not all MMO's do that, but because this one did some people get the idea that they'll keep doing it to suit everyone's palette.
They should just leave Yoshi and his team to do what they think is right and see how it comes out. With the way things have been progressing since the revamp started it's defenitely improving, it's just going to take time till everything is running at full speed.
Agreed. At this point the only input they should really be looking for from us is how things they've implemented are working. We should give feedback, not demand things be changed to suit our desires. And when giving that feedback we should not feel like the devs are obligated to listen to each and every bit of it and fix it as we suggest. Listening is good, but suggestions should be taken with a grain of salt. Communication is good but here no matter what they say (or don't say) people always complain.
Because of WoW and other games.......Squeeky wheel mentallity. If a small group out post the opposition on there feed back pages IE. Forums, they tend to gravitate toward what they are asking. As they gravitate more and more in that direction, that gravity builds until it becomes the black hole that they have made some of the threads here.
They dumb things down to accomodate the greasing of the squeeky wheel, until things in game are.........well.........dumb.
I mean look at EQ II. You don't even have the abilitiy to physically go in and add to stat points anymore.........IMHO, once you lose the ability to dynamically design your character, its over. Once those squeeky wheels demand easy mode to the point that a game designer makes all stats standard set based on class choice its over.
you should play devil may cry, i think it has everything your looking for.
This would be a very bad idea, firstly it's a Final Fantasy game, they have never had jumping in them, it would make it more like WoW which would be hated by the majority I'm sure. Secondly the OP mentioned being able to jump out of the way of attacks, this would cause a total nightmare to the battle system and would mean SE would have to totally re work all the algorithms (which they won't).
It will not happen, the end.
Wow. This thread is still up? Quit feeding this pokemon. Here it is, plain and simple:
What you are asking for is an Action RPG based MMO.
The direction FFXIV is clearly headed in is a Traditional RPG based MMO.
One is not better than the other. One will never be better than the other. That is entirely a matter of opinion. Both can, should, and will coexist forever.
If you like Action RPG based MMOs, and do not enjoy Traditional RPG based MMOs - don't let the door hit you on the way out.
/thread
can't think of any FF titles where i can do a backflip to dodge an incoming fire spell, or where i can jump while firing my bow. i think u are thinking of a different type of game. not that i'm saying action isn't good, but i'll put gears of war on when i want to pump up the adrenaline
"Looks around" so where's my backflip <-- lol i liked it
altho theres a point that i quite like from the OP, dodging, i dont feel that it could be balanced into an mmo without making it too easy for the people who play hack n slash type games and people who posibly havent even touched a game without that sort of gameplay may find too hard. Id quite like to see environment affect gameplay tho. Not the old "the target is too high above you" stuff, that was silly but having line of sight i feel would bring in a lot of tactics for us. i realise tho this would take a lot of balancing, but thats part of a decent mmo right?
Pikachu, I couldnt even read your whole post because of how Every Word Was Capitalized, but thats not the kind of engine the game has, you know this.
I thought he was emphasizing each word to show that it is important to his speech.
We need flasher weapon skills, abilitys and content. Lack of battle content is main cause of everyones bordem. Game needs more enemys and NMs.
Instent Raids or content only good if its long and there is a decent limit to it. Players finishing it within a week or less is a problem when devlopers cant keep up with the players.
Because some of the biggest "install base" for some game series lack action in the term of being an action game. Most RPG series have millions upon millions of fans and players, some don't even have context sensitive jumping or dodging.
So no, turning every game into an action game doesn't bring in players, if your game is fun in it's own right it does, because using your logic, games like Minecraft, Super Meatboy, Castle Crasher or any other type of indie game shouldn't have any players, because they aren't using "Oh so realistic /nomalicious" graphics that's popular with this generation of games.
Lol they are still listening to the community. With the instant air ships to stay the same to jumping, they still are.
I still don't see why so many people are against jumping. How is it copying World of Warcraft? LOL. So every other game that has jump is copying World of Warcraft? Shooot, you people crack me up
