Downloader works far from fine for me, I just use uTorrent =/
You can't honestly believe they're going to just GIVE YOU Ishgard, can you?
It's going to be the equivalent of unlocking Sea or Sky from FFXI. You have to WORK FOR IT. This is how it should be, so we don't have 127398172 AFKers, RMT, and other scum strutting about like in Ul'dah.
Nothing against you personally, I just hate the mentality that people feel they deserve Ishgard on a silver platter and should be able to just log in when it's released and waltz right in.
Ishgard is nothing like Sea or Sky because its a city, you didnt need to do anything for access to jeuno in XI, Ishgard will be XIV's version of jeuno. All you could compare it to is Whitegate, but that was access to a region not a city, there is no logic in a quest to allow access for another city, if it was an endgame area, or an entire region then I would agree with you. Also a quest would not stop RMT, they would do the quest because it would be somwhere else to make money.
Also why would a quest stop people afking? The only characters that arent playing who are afk are mules that they use to bazaar.
tl;dr a quest for access to a single city is stupid and does nothing except make an unnesiserry timesink, a whole region or endgame areas is understandable but a single city makes no sense.
I highly doubt that they just release Ishgard as a city among others, I expect considerable content (dungeons, classes, jobs) to accompany it, and probably new accessible areas.
I doubt we see Ishgard before an expansion or PS3 release.
Ishgard could be the center of the job quests. Maybe all in one, in 1.21 (the biggest ever lol).
as glad as i am to hear all the good things in this patch, id like to take this time to say, I TOLD YOU SO, about the end of summer plans becoming the end of winter plans. This will respectively put 1.20 til December. Im not hatin though, its actually the opposite. More f2p time for me.
im pretty sure that they are not going to start charging after 1.20....they would be stupid to do so and it would pretty much destroy the game. Until the ps3 release i would expect it to stay free. And i wouldnt expect the ps3 version until things like the job system/world re-design changes are done with.
Last part of September still includes summer in the northern hemisphere. Additionally, 1.20 was never promised in that timeline. Pretty much everything that was included in that timeline will be in 1.19. Acting like they are somehow wildly off their previously stated schedule is a bit out of line with the facts. Now, if it gets pushed to October/November, then toss your "I told you so" fanfare.Quote:

On the subject of Ishgard, I can't see any reason for it to be treated as Sea or Sky. It's just a city, like others have said.
Also, I can agree that PS3 release would be the more rational timing for starting up p2p services. 1.20 is when they are slated to introduce jobs. I can't see them wanting to start charging at the same time as introducing a feature that will most likely need to be balanced and fine tuned.
Somehow people assumed that 1.20 would be delivered before the end of the summer. Rather, this list represents what was supposed to be delivered by the end of the summer.
By having a quick look at it, it may seem that they will even be in advance of schedule (based on amount of content added) if they make everything that was listed today, along with what was in 1.18, come the end of september, regardless of the number of the patch or whatsoever
It's not the fact that it's a city, it's the ACCESS to boundless content that comes with it. That is something to be unlocked, not just handed over, that's why it's like Sea/Sky.
This is going to be a lot bigger than just another Jeuno. Jeuno/Whitegate are the way they are due to the convenience of a central AH, nothing more. Ishgard may or may not even have it's own market wards, that is IRRELEVANT.
Making access super easy with no effort required only invites everyone (and I do mean everyone) to literally pick up from Ul'dah and move to Ishgard. This is unacceptable. By forcing some sort of requirement to be fulfilled, it limits players to actually earning access, and reduces the flood of trash that will inevitably hang around just for the sake of being there.
It is by no means an anti-RMT measure, but it is an RMT-deterrent, they have to do more work to get access to what Ishgard has to offer (no rank 10 Lala trains earning gil through Ishgard content).
AFKers would inevitably build up over time, but it would be far less if people had to rank up and actually do something to get Ishgard. You won't have r20 players and people's mules running to Ishgard thinking "I'll just AFK here since this is new content and everyone will be here".
Do you understand yet?
I dont know about that. Making an introductory quest to know more details about the city? sure, but a rank requirement in an area that already anyone of any rank has access to (Coerthas) does not sound good. The city itself, would be opened to anyone, but the content the city leads to, that would be rank restricted. The amount of high level content jeuno has is staggering and anyone from lv 1 to 75 has free access to the city, not the actual content.
They can have requirements on the content, but anyone can go there, remember the quest for access to aht urgan, remember how many rmt teleport mules were there? remember how many level 1 mules were bazaaring imperial silver pieces, quests do not deter RMT or afk mules, lets think about this rationally, if everyone moves to Ishgard, how will RMT mules and afk mules sell thier things, oh yeah take less than 1hr to get access, when Ishgard opens for abit atleast Uldah will be almost dead so nothing will sell there making it more that worth it to get mules access, why not even make a party with all your mules and get it done at the same time, no time lost.
Wow, that's a lot of baseless speculation on which to base restrictions on. Just what "boundless content" are you referring to? Just what makes you think it will be "bigger than just another Jeuno?" I'll have to agree with Delsus in that there will probably be high level required content in the city, but nothing seems to suggest that only high levels will be able to enter and walk around the city.Quote:

it really seems like our Jeuno. For them to ristrict it would be stupid. They would be smart to handle it like jeuno...a more centralized area that leads on twords higher leveled zones, a gathering place for higher levels, story content leading up to having you go there...ect.
Considering I paid full price pre-order on my FFXIV collector's edition... I don't think I'm being given anything in this game.
I don't think anything should stop folks from entering Ishgard when it opens except for the sizable expanse of Coerthas and the Black Shroud that that must be traveled through to get there - if they haven't already.
Honestly, If AFK players bother you that much, perhaps you shouldn't be spending your time in cities at all. :/
I think everyone should get comfortable with the fact that they prob wont be opening Ishgard until the Ps3 release. I say this because its what they did in XI with Jueno. In order to avoid congestion in the main 3 cities with the influx of new players from the console base, opening Ishgard will move all of the higher level players from their home towns out to Ishgard, which then free's up space for the new people to get comfortable with the cities.
i hope they add in Ishgard the leve counters from the three cities so you can check em and take them knowing what rewards do they offer, like class marks, job marks etc. then take your boat and travel there.
Really looking forward to the next update ^.^
maybe people got that impression cause "jobs" are on the list and they said that jobs will be post 1.20 so when you put that together and make an obvious assumption it tells you that 1.21 is part of the end of summer plans.
And that my friend is what you call a SUPER BURN!!!!!
Or there were unforseeable problems with jobs that pushed them back, I believe somwhere they mentioned jobs would be in 1.19, but it wasnt discussed in the letter, which says jobs got delayed.
Edit: cant find it, maybe I was imagining jobs were slated for release in 1.19.
so if they take content out of of the end of summer plans it is fair to say they did not finish by the end of summer and their end of summer plans will most likely be end of fall-winter plans. You cant just take stuff out of the list and say you still made the deadline, lol, seriously.
So you are picking up one 1 delay, when they have listed or implemented everything else in the plans, guess what things get delayed, you maybe encounter a problem which you did not expect, it happens all the time with programming.
If you rage about 1 thing being delayed when they met all other plans then dont you appreciate the work the devs have put into this game, when they could have just pulled the plug
The devs work load has been huge, 1.18 and 1.19 could have had people working round the clock to get the content out.
first off im not raging im stating facts. They said that was there end of summer plan, they did not deliver end of story. I really dont care when they are released, it was my main concern. The job system is a huge chunk of what the summer plans were all about without the end of summer plans are not complete, end of story. I dont know why you cant admit this.
If i had something to do at work and only finished 80% and was like ah, well you know it was more hen i thought my boss would tell me to go f myself.
im so sick of all the self appointed dev guardian angles who tell everyone on the forums to stfu because the devs are working so hard and well get it when we get it and all this other crap.
They never said that they would implement the job system before summer end. There was word about determining attributes, assets, assessing the cost of implementation etc., but nothing about actually bringing it into game.
Give us BST, or give us.....LS / LFP / map marker fixes.
There had been delays, anyone that works in programming knows this can happen, yes they missed thier targets by not getting the job system in, but when the list was made everyone was saying they would not get half of it done, they have done alot more work than a normal mmo developer to get 1.18 and 1.19 (hopefully) within 2 months of each other, yes they missed thier targets but they have still done alot more work in these 2 months than most mmo developers do in 1 year. 1.19 looks like it will be really good, yes there arent jobs but I dont care because this is a huge patch and there will be enough to do until jobs are ready.
If you would prefer they could release completly broken and incomplete jobs, just so they would meet thier targets, but I would prefer a delay and the jobs to work and be complete before they release it.
i already said that i dont care that jobs were not implemented. I know they did allot of work and most likely worked their asses off. All im saying is they did not get everything done by the end of summer that they said they would. It seems you are very defensive against me stating the truth when it also seems we both agree on all of the above.
No one wants a copy of another game(D&D? O.o;) when it comes to jobs/classes w/e in the final fantasy universe, the ones I named are pretty much long standing staples of the series, why the fk would they not add them
All the content in the world wouldnt matter to me if I had no urge to play any of the very limited very generic battle classes that are in the game now Magicuser Guywithsword&shield Axeman barehandsdude homeboywithbow.... REALLY? this is the classes that they gave us....
SE seperate the damn classes make each of them use and value its own unique abilities.
Make this anti-social single player mmorpg lmao a real game worth calling a mmorpg because you want to play with others.
What I said makes sense to anyone that plays this game, ppl seem to want to pick sword dude and use skills from every other class get to lvl cap alone and sit in town and craft all day... to me thats not fun.
Grab some friends strategize on who will be what job quipt up and roll out, XI had that down perfectly =/
Jobs are extrememly important now! battle system nice, good ish now some real jobs to use and its a game.....
Uh... you do know that is what is coming right? Classes getting revamped to be more unique in 1.20 (with a list of their ideas for us to give feedback on coming along with 1.19) and the jobs coming after that specifically for party play.
I like how everyone knows exactly what will be inside Ishgard and what it will be used for despite the developers saying nothing and all we know from NPCs is that they worship Halone and hunt dragons.
