Novus weapon upgrade system findings

Surely you can't do Piety. You will probably be able to do 44 in a stat and 31 in the other (75 total).

Relax. You can only infuse grade 1 materia at first, it will be awhile(think weeks) before you need the higher grades. People speculating materia are dumb lol. I'm selling all mine while the prices are high.

I did 2(mine and my buddies). The Alexandrite is always given to the map holder. Mine was easy Golem plus bombs. His however had the cheesiest Molboro ever, as it casted bad breath it bound him for 30 seconds making sure to hit him with it unless you silenced the attack. I would say they were still easy.

Ok, now I am completely lost. My Novus BLM staff has INT and KON as main stats and DET and SS as 3rd and 4th stats. I thought these stats (DET/SS) can be changed/replaced or is it so that you have SIX stats if you upgrade to Novus? Can't imagine it to be this way although it would rock.

Det and SS can either be replaced with different (secondary) stats, or an alternate value of themselves. Your choice.

Also, since the grade I meld in the SS above only added 1 progress (instead of savage aim I's value of 2)

...it is safe to say a complete novus will require 75 materia, 75 alexandrite.

It isn't confusing. All secondary stats (except accuracy for healer weapons) will be replaced by whatever is on your scroll. The primary stats get upgraded when you finish the quest.

It will replace your 3rd and 4th stats

Thanks for the summary. 2 questions about it:

1) What has Expert Roulette to do with the map? Isn't it something you need a Level 50 DOL for? Is it a drop that can only be obtained through Expert roulette?
2) Can you wear any weapon for these FATES or do you need an Animus weapon to make them drop?

BTW, the Patch notes are a Joke regarding Novus. It is just general blabla leaving you alone with 1.000 questions lol.

Nope, or at least I don't think it is. Main stats are VIT, MND, DEX, STR and INT because your main weapon always has VIT. Tanks always have STR, healers always have MND etc. So technically you can add PIE, CRT, DTM, SPS, SKP and PRY to any weapon. What I want to know is if I can add DEX to my WAR weapon.

The daily quest to get a free map requires completing 1 expert roulette. That's it.

IF each sphere scroll can only hold 5, then you'd need 15 scrolls for novus... Please dont suggest that, it makes my head explode, lol...

...and its 1 stat point for the grade 1, rather than the 2 said materia "normally" would provide.

Why did that silly girl NPC tell me that I can only do 5 materia per scroll? What was she talking about?

You'll notice another quest in Fallgourd after you have to turn in your 3 inks which will start this quest line.

The expert Roulette is just what the quest wants you to do to get these new maps. You pick up the quest, you do the roulette, you get the map as you hand in the quest(think weekly primal kills quest). And yes you must wear your animus to get Alexandrite from a FATE.

The amount of people who have animus weapons are pretty small though.

Plus, if it turns out grinding fates is feasable you'll get lots of your own materia from spiritbinding them.

The actual demand from this quest will be nothing compared to someone trying to penta meld a piece of gear.

The amount of people pentamelding is also tiny though...

God! I hope there's no more RNG involved. All these 19 pages are kinda confusing to me rather than clearing things up. Too bad I'm still stuck with updating using mobile conns since I'm still outside. lol

funny...last time i checked, there was only 1 savage aim materia IV and ZERO savage aim materia III .____. so if that doesnt change, ill be stuck on grade II -____- rng ftw....

Thanks for clearing it up, I thought it is just a new map I can gather with my Miner or Botanist. So basically you can spam Expert roulette for a while to get your Alexandrite. I doubt the Roulette bonus needs to be unused to get it. Maybe that's their counteraction for leaving players in Brayflox. Stay the fuck in the dungeon till the end to get your Alexandrite could be a solution, at least for Roulette.

True, although I am wondering about the reports of being told 5 materia per scroll. If that's true, I'm kinda thrown off by how the melds will be done. Had one permutation that made sense(5 Scrolls with 2(I)/1(II)/1(III)/1(IV) melds) until I recalled stat max for Curtana/Holy Shield being reported as 53 and 22 respectively.

So once you put, say, a crit 1 materia on first, you then HAD to put another crit 1 on there? Is that right? I'm curious whether you can have more than 2 types of secondary stats now, and whether you can have more det than you normall might if the 75 is the same cap regardless.

I just learned, that it is actually 5 types of materia and not 5 materia.

SE should have clarified a bit more about this quest. Oh, well, I'll see how my FC/LS buddies mess it up and learn from their mistakes before I attempt my Novus, muwhaha! If it only requires T1 materias, this will be a loooong process, thankfully these are easy to get and I think I'll stick with FATEs for Alexandrite, since I feel lucky!

I stupidly chose yesterday to swap out the new ps4 and ssd (old one was overheating). Which meant I had to watch the starting cs again, and transfer data from the ps3 version for a bastardized version of my hotbars, with all the UI and settings back to default.

By the time I was able to check the mb on Gilgamesh the patch had been live for about 30 min. The price of crit 4 was 800k - and I'm positive it will go even higher. Utter madness.

I am not sure if you could spread the 75 Points over the 5 types, but i don't see why we could not. Basically the same as putting materia into Gear. Either go to cap a certain stat, or mix others in as well. I would guess it does work the same, which needs to be checked out of course.
