In FFXI I grind to 18 to unlock subjobs, 20 to unlock my chocobo/do garrison, 25 to do eco warrior, 30 to unlock my advanced jobs/start CoP, 40 to do missions up to rank 5/get airship access/run BCNM bosses, 50 to break the level cap/do campaign, 60 to get my AF armor/pvp/start zilart missions/get rank 6, 65 to unlock Dynamis/Sky access, and 75 for basically everything else. I can keep going because I know the further I go the more new and exciting shit awaits me. What can I grind for in XIV? To slay a few NMs for a lame reward? Then what? Can't even do leves in Mor Dhona.
MMOs are only great when you have a bunch of friends to play with, but they'll all quit if there's nothing to do in the game.
