    Just got this game...

Honestly, I'm a little bit surprised at how much it has improved.

I played FFXIV's open beta, and uninstalled it within 5 minutes (literally). The UI was a mess, hardware mouse was lagging, and many other problems; specifically, I had no clue what the hell I was supposed to do in the game.

I don't know what they changed, but I've managed to play for 2 hours and not get bored out of my mind (I get bored in 2 hours from World of Warcraft).

So let me ask a question:

In what direction is this game going and why are people, specifically on FFXIVCore, still saying to "wait before purchasing" this game? I am by no means a hardcore gamer during September to April, but from April to September I don't do anything but game (this will give you a hint as to what my occupation is lol). There are friends in the same boat as me that want a new MMO for this summer, should I suggest to them to pick up FFXIV?

(I have a feeling end game content is the problem right now?)

One thing I can say about forums right now, dont believe anything you hear

youll hear alot of biased opinions and ALOT of people just like to post and bash the game(especialy the most vocal ones) such as what you saw on core.

Judging for yourself is always the best route to go for any game

the direction its going is hard to judge if you havent been playing update to update, but go over the patch list and youll see what theyve been doing, and the letter from the producers also say alot about whats going on.

and yes, no endgame right now cept NMs, but you probly will just be hitting 50 as it gets added if your diligent about itwe should be getting something big mid june

Dude, with all due respect, this is the kinda of crap I don't want to read and I'm sure anyone else looking for information doesn't.

When you make a claim, back up the claim with evidence or an opinion, etc. etc.

    .

With all due respect, that is my honest opinion, i have alot friends from XI that asked whether the game is worth the 60$ they are going to spent. At the current state of the game, it is not ready for public consumption yet and will just sparked another rage thread players that are already rampant in this forum.

I play this game every single freaking day, but i am not trying to be biased here and defense the game when it is not yet worth defending, the game has astounding graphic, but there are alot of stuff that needs alot of touch up.

I believe i dont need to back up my claim with more evidence, feel free to browse through 94 pages of threads in this forum and you will trust me soon enough.

What, it's like buying a copy of Modern Warfare 2 and playing it following the fixes the dev team is developing, watching the changes in real time =)

Oh wait, Infinity Wards would never do that, oh well...
At least, FFXIV dev team will rend this game worth the monthly fee, I can feel it from the changes it has done, and the changes it will have.
I must say, I don't like some changes that will come, like the quest hubs which my eyes see it as a western thing, but I'll be glad to be amazed by Squeenix.

Op you said you game a lot during summer months.. so you will be out of content withing 1 month if not faster and then you will start whining that you have nothing to do. That's why everyone say you shouldn't buy this game right now.

I picked up the game during 1.16-1.17 patches and I felt the same way. Everyone in the forums were chewing the game apart but I was having fun. I didn't get it so I kept playing and enjoying the solo aspect.

Then 'it' hit me. This moment where you think of the next thing to do but realize all that's left is SP grinding. I think it took me one month and a few weeks to explore 70% of the world and to complete all of the quests. I got to physical rank 22. All I had left to do were leves and behests... at rank 22.

I'll be back for 1.18 but I think I'll judge if I should bother to stick with the game around 1.19. The game has potential.

I find it very hard to believe at Phys 22 that you've completed every single quest in the game, considering there are many that are rank and class capped. The biggest parts of the story actually too.

Yes a lot of what there is to do is SP grinding but that's fairly common knowledge at this point.

At any rate, Lynart I'm glad to see you've given this game a chance despite all the awful buzz surrounding it. If you can enjoy the game for what it is at any point you shouldn't have any problems finding enjoyment in the game. That being said waiting to start wouldn't be the worst idea as they are going to drastically change some of the combat systems with 1.18 and 1.19. If you'd like to start ranking up and get a little bit ahead for the time being, it's not a bad idea at all to play the game.

The one piece of advice I believe will truly help above all others is to find an active linkshell that suits your needs. For me I know I wouldn't have anywhere near the same amount of fun in this game if it wasn't for my LS mates.
