Is the water that bad?

As I watch those two images (video, the hell cares) I can't see a markable difference on the water effects. There is reflection and shadows between little waves. The only things that misses is the depth, but thanks, it's the Sea... and the shadows between the haven and the water.

In conclusion, I find the discussion of Water quality of little importance, since it is good as it is and doesn't need a workup.

if they want, they can change it... just look at wow's water .. a 10years ago game.. looks nice no? (consider that it is a much more free world, where you can jump, swim underwater etc. ! )

1) The water moves
2) Reflective properties
3) Refraction
4) Opacity

What i don't understand is, if water is of that little importance why do you keep posting in the water thread.

Wait... you need the waters to move when the ship moves in a videogame? What for, eyecandy?

And the OP video shows that pretty much. If you wanted the Sea to reflect something, well it reflects the sky, which is blue.

You aren't funny or clever so quit trying.

I was asking for a screenshot of the supposed reflections in FFXIVs water. And no it doesn't reflect the sky as it always remains that darkish blue where as the sky, doesn't.

People should quit being idiots.

I think they should improve the ripple effect of the water, other than that I think it's fine. In the OP video when the character was moving around, there were barely any waves.
