Housing is the biggest load of crap

I recently won a bid and was able to upgrade from a Small plot in Empyreum to a Medium plot in Shirogane last week!
Honestly, I still believe that for any player who doesn't yet have a house, the first priority should be to secure any plot—even a Small one.
That mindset isn’t outdated at all.
With how competitive the housing system is, getting your foot in the door is the most important step.
Once you have a house, you gain access and from there, you can always try to upgrade later, just like I did.

Not really so much anymore.Outside of FC chat. It's really not much different. Over the years they've lowered the barrier to visit different servers and even different data centers. I can freely come and go and visit friends that don't even play on my home data center anymore.

You can play on your preferred server, with your preferred group. You can go to the DCs with fast queue times. They're very little barriers to playing with friends if you want to.(I have friends that work at venues off data center)

If I have a friend group on Seraph, what's stopping me from data center traveling to play with them? I understand you won't have Fc.chat or the buffs. But aside.from that. What exactly is "a lot to give up?"

Is it slightly inconvenient? Yes, but do you want to get a easy plot, or would you rather try your hand at bidding in your current server to keep in your groups fc?

What do you find more important?

Is my word of advice in treat plots like the long game. They gave us apts (as a baseline housing experience) as a easy carrot. But the plots from my experience are the *big* carrot they want you to chase (people do like hard to obtain limited supply items). And once you catch it, you're on the hook fore the foreseeable future. But if you want a plot. Take what nobody wants, get your foot in the door. I don't care what size you want. This is the system we have. So , you can do what you can and increase your chances. You'll get yourself a small, while some people felt too good for it and hedged their bets on >2% chance. For a medium.

Some of you hate it, but that rarity keeps players chomping at the bit for it. Knowingly or unknowingly.

Or it shows that the smalls are again not what people want save for a few the smalls just don't do it, I mean even ones with small like Khryseis below is literally saying they want addon rooms. I'm not going to argue their reason for wanting a small, nor their reason for not wanting a medium. what I will argue is you thinking that you like to pretend to act like you dictate what a player should 'start' with IE: Run before you walk. Why would I want to waste 3 mil on a small + the cost of the permit to build plus the time investment in decorating it when I don't even want a small. Sorry but the STATISTICS SHOW that more people want mediums or larges, and you are no one when it comes to deciding what and how they should bid. The fact is they should be looking at these stats and taking initiative to IMPROVE not stagnate and just keep building wards with smalls that only a few people want which clearly the majority want something bigger. That's the keyword, those bidding on mediums/larges are the majority, you heard that right? MAJORITY. you telling them that you're right and they are wrong for how they bid, is utterly laughable.

The only thing you GAIN from "getting your foot in the door" is a loss of gil for something you did not even want because you have bigger and better plans than a small can offer. even when the 'tardis' interior comes out the outsides are so limited it's really not worth it, I have had 3 smalls since 2015 and each time I hated them because they were so limited in what you can do, noo to mention it's absolutely aggravating that the top floor is almost half the size of the basement.

Last cycle, there were six large plots available for bidding, but I chose to bid on a medium instead of going for a large.
I had more than enough for a large plot, but I knew my priorities and used good judgment.

Again, if what you’re saying is even close to true, then those people really need to check their priorities.
You’re mentioning a “static”? By who, and based on what?
I don’t recall any official statement from SE. If there is one, please share it here—I could have missed it.

I am being practical and you behave delusional

It’s not your place to accuse anyone who follows the rules.
I pay subscriptions and actively play both accounts.
You can have your “big plan,” and I have mine; the difference is that a practical approach actually gets results.
I’ll enjoy my current plots and keep bidding for a large when it makes sense.
I strongly disagree with your approach.
If people want a plot, be practical and get a small first.
4M gil means nothing in this game.

This is not a battle, it's a conversation among fellow members of the same community.

Maybe his idea doesn't work for you and yours, but it may work for others, and that's fine. Everyone does things differently, even if the goal is the same.
