This is a direct symptom of the FOMO housing system. People who are otherwise not interested in housing feel compelled to bid during ward releases because they know they cannot depend on it being available at any time that they may suddenly become interested. That's why we see thousands of bidders during ward releases while there are typically only hundreds competing for the trickle of houses in between.

To be fair; if there was a upkeep that mattered for housing that would go a great length to solve that issue in my experience (Lord of the Rings online did that). I think there is a nasty sense of entitlement as everyone seems to be laser focused on only select plots - the whole point of variance is to create some competition however. I do agree that there is probably a unrealistic level of FOMO and ironically those folks you mention actually contribute to the problem by "sitting on" the supply.

I wish we had more actual data though cause I feel a lot of the notions people have are largely based on anecdotal evidence; even I am somewhat guilty of that.

Also I REALLY wish the lotto system was a LOT faster.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I think players should have to reach endgame to buy ward houses. I always thought the requirements were too low. Sorry if this offends, I do hope we get a way for all players to enjoy housing some day. FC housing is not a replacement either imo, not everyone can decorate the interior or garden. Most are just as quiet as private houses, even the large FCs mostly use it for a port after the novelty of getting the house wears off.

Difficult to do seeing as every expac our endgame level changes. Lvl 50 baseline is fine, tbh. The problem is FC house bidding has no GC or level requirement (save for MSQ requirements for accessing Shiro and Empyreum) the way personal housing does, and SE needs to address that.

It would be kind of neat if they added an instanced mansion sized plot with the item limit for mansion garden where you can build any sized house. Small houses with a large garden would be gorgeous.

I was in the parking lot at the supermarket trying to find a parking spot. There were plenty of spots but none were very close or they were out of the way from where I wanted to park. And in my head I thought, "There's no parking spots!"'. It's a bit like the housing situation. There are plenty of spots available, some of them not in the most desired locations but still there are houses and yet people will scream, "There are no houses!".

Not to be rude, but you're playing on a pretty low pop obscure EU server. On all of NA pretty much all the plots will be gone within the next cycle. Nearly every single small, even obscure ones in Goblet had multiple bids.

I've still seen people on Dynamis, Alpha, Raiden, Phantom, and Sagi complaining too. One guy created an entire twitter thread to complain all the good houses are gone on Phantom. You weren't rude in the least!
