You're unaware of how YT algorithm works then. A dislike is good for the algorithm. It's engagement that matters. Commenting, disliking, liking is good for the algorithm.

I don't know who this person is and frankly I don't care. If he likes the game good for him of not well there are other games. Sorry I make my own decisions about what I play and how I feel about it without needing anyone elses opinion.
well with his last ffxiv video he lost viewers, he made it clear many times he doesnt like the game, now that the game is hype he "tries it again". Its a good time for any streamer and YT content creator to play ffxiv to get new subs and views. And thats all there is to lazyeon, just the $$$. So I wont act like "omg yay he tries it again" - pls - i think we all know better
While XIV does a better job of not completely invalidating earlier content the older stuff hasn't kept up with the new jobs or even older job redesigns. Many people have complained that the level sync doesn't go far enough for gear (eg. Rhytalin). Ultimately though it's a challenge to find other people willing to tackle older content as intended.
I'd argue it's not really the content that's "the good stuff" it's the much broader availability of people to do stuff with that is.
I agree we have issues that people wanna ignore here, but I do need to point out something here.
He specifically skipped the story, and then complained afterwords that the story was bad. That was what people mostly took a (justified, imo) issue with. If he doesn't like the story after doing it, then fine, but if you're gonna drop $25 to skip it, and then complained the skipped story was bad, that's going to ruffle something.
Also, it's worth money to suddenly like the game now, so he's going to enjoy it. Remember when he originally even tried ffxiv, his viewers were still mostly from his time from wow, so bashing it, he likely felt, would ring better with his community rather than praising it.
He has said many times that he prefers games with action combat over tab targeting, so he'll probably end up not liking the game again. He's just jumping in for views, and who can blame him, he is an entertainer.
It's funny you bring up the Churning Mists moogles, as that's honestly the worst part of Heavensward as well. It completely disrupts the pacing of the story in Heavensward.
This is really what it comes down to. Post-ARR needs a better editor. Even best-selling novelists require one. Yes there are some important bits during Mog, Leviathan, Ramuh, and Ivy subplots, especially with how Urianger discovers how to destroy Ascians. But most of the significant plot points can be condensed down to a few cutscenes at most, even if it requires rewriting certain dialogue scenes. Are you telling me there needs to be 7-8 quests leading up to Leviathan, one of which has you playing hide and seek with Doman refugee children, and another that has you run off to some fake hero in Lower La Noscea who claims to have killed Leviathan? There is so much pointless padding in post-ARR, that it wears new players out, especially when there's no actual gameplay or character progression throughout -- it's literally just cutscene after cutscene. If there are later references in the game to these events (ie. like with Ivy's subplot mentioned in HW) they could easily just have a dialogue check on whether you've completed the sidequest or not, much as they've done with Bahamut's Coils references or Crystal Tower later on (before they made it mandatory to the story), and change/skip the dialogue accordingly.
To be fair, there's a lot of padding in the expansions as well, even in our beloved Shadowbringers (eg. trolley/golem subplot in Amh Araeng). But a lot of these are bearable because they are padding the zone, and the player is spending time exploring and levelling in a new area that they don't even mind the poor story filler content. But in post-ARR, you're spending 90% of your time teleporting back and forth throughout Eorzea, just to watch cutscene after cutscene, with only a purple encounter trigger here and there. There is no new exploration, no levelling, no progression, and minimal actual gameplay besides the few primal fights. If you don't think this needs to be trimmed down because of the "purity of the story canon," you're turning away a lot of potential players who may actually enjoy the later parts of the story.
Hate to sound like a kid that needs a rocket to pay attention but I really like the intros that just start out slapping, greatly prefer it to "welcome to a major city have fun". Just keeping it within the FF universe say like FFX, FFIX, FFVII, etc, there are more just the presentation of those three (music art pacing) had my attention well.
Of course my new player experience is probably all sorts of off compared to new players now, since I went through the gates via 1.0 transfer (the fight in the beginning of 1.0 was part of the highlights, just to comment on that specifically). I just recall the beginning, when messing around with ARR (more particularly the beta), and it being a 'just okay' pacing (I'm sure there might be some intention to that because the game is doing a sloooooow burn and I know some people have said they love that, it's just that intro style is not as much my tea. Gib mo fireworks! lol
To then verge into the blasphemous, I really like the venturing into a big city feel that is relatively taken away by how FFXIV starts the game. Would have preferred a hamlet and then wander my way into a major city. something that another, mmorpg, does well I think.
Though I do want to say I've had much much worse intros to a game single player and not. Could be worse :p, I found it totally acceptable. Just not my favorite intro either.
