Well I would not call it widely considered decent. We had a huge thread about this when it was released with people discussing Anemos and a lot of it was negative. Even with the train a lot of people still did not like it and others stated that they only like it because they can socialize or that the train makes it bearable. Thats imo not decent. We also had JP posts with over 100 likes that called it dirt. So even there quite some people did not truly like it. We had one poll on reddit (which was made in favor for Anemos since it had two positive and one negative options) and even still only a small amount truly liked it and more found it "meh its okay" and I think around 30% outright took the option that they hate it. And this with a poll that was not even great at all.Quote:

I look at it this way. I did not like Anemos but it was tolerable in short spurts. But it was still unpleasant enough that I decided that the Stormblood relic was off the table for me after that stage and I never stepped foot in Pagos nor do I have any intention of doing so. Obviously that means I'll never see Pyros either. Eureka is just bad content to me. Its not fun... its painful, unpleasant, boring and without significant changes gets worse over time. The big problem with Eureka is that its the gatekeeper of the relic.
It's like SE wanted to get FFXI elements into FFXIV but wanted to ensure the content wouldn't be rejected so they looked at Diadem and decided the problem with it was that it wasn't rewarding enough to entice players in and figured that putting the relic there would do the trick. For some people it was enough to get them in the door, but not me. I have a limit to what I will suffer through to get things I want. Anemos was that limit for me. I won't give Pagos or Pyros a second thought.
Eureka isn't just a grind. It's a grind you can't do at your convenience because you're beholden to the groups available. It's a grind that requires not just grinding the stages of the relic but through an entirely separate leveling system that is made complicated by the element system/hidden spawn conditions and punitive if you're solo or your group has a slower kill speed. It's a grind that syncs your ilvl so you can never overpower it no matter how good your gear is. It's a grind that goes out of its way to make every little thing inconvenient and relies on the relic carrot to make you suck it up and "enjoy it" to get your relic weapon done. Well this bunny decided that this particular carrot isn't worth hopping into a meat grinder to get. Pagos was dead on arrival to me and now Pyros is as well. Eureka might as well not exist because it is not "content" I want anything to do with.
If SE does Eureka-like content again in the next xpac I will likely stop playing FFXIV. I play games to have fun, not give myself paper cuts and then pour salt on them. Eureka constitutes such a significant portion of Stormblood's development, and available content, that repeating this horror of a design philosophy would basically turn FFXIV into a game I won't want to play anymore. Making content isn't enough. You have to make content I WANT to do that I feel is WORTH doing. Eureka is neither of those things. -

This is the first time I've ever actually considered unsubscribing. All of the new additions this patch (short of Hildi) are locked behind Pyros, under layers and layers of RNG. PVP is annoying, but there's no RNG about it - you save up points, you buy the thing you want. Sure, it was bad enough when it was HoH - I won't deny that having RNG in there sucks, too, I'm not trying to negate people's frustration with HoH - but that's at least easy content you can take in spurts of 10 floors at a time, max 45-60m. And there was only one type of "lockbox" to contend with. Anything I wanted that dropped in HoH has already dropped so low on the marketboard that I can buy it; the haircut is barely a mil and the crafting mats are 300 gil max on my server.
Unless, somehow, the new furnishings and hair drop in an easier method than the shiver emote, it's going to be ridiculous. The shiver emote is still going for 10-20 mil on my server, and the only one currently available is at a price no one will buy, 500 mil. -

I think pyros seems A LOT BETTER than pagos. At least exp is nice and map isn't a holy labyrinth. Tbh, apart from the thing that eureka isn't solo friendly at all if you want glamours, mount, minions etc from it, i learned to enjoy it.
But pagos was hell... I hope they learned from their mistake and pyros rng will be a bit more relaxed on glam items. Bec most of the people i know doing eureka is because of glamour/mount/minion/tt cards etc. Not because of relic.. -
