The best way to ease the heat on the topic would be to give the non-prize items a different name to the prize items, just so people who've won a contest can display that fact while others get to wear cute clothes that make them happy. -

As a winner of several contests (my pride and joy was getting my design put on the local library's bookmarks), I could never sympathize or understand the "only i must have it!!!" mentality that comes with contests or content. The greatest reward is the memories and the pride, not some dinky, half-baked reward.
Besides, aren't they moving the ugly scarf out to replace it with Cloud hairstyle? There is still exclusive rewards you can get and have for years before they are released to general public. -
