While the fight was a long time ago, and cannot be replicated now, it doesn't lessen the efforts of the players who completed the fight at the time. The real heroes of Eorzea they were.

The way people are acting, I'm going to say... eh, no. 1.0 was Five. Years. Ago. Yes, that was a big accomplishment then. And in ARR being able to clear Binding Coil was a big deal. Now people can buy the set. There are still exclusives that CAN NOT be gotten by people AT ALL. People wigging out over EARRINGS is... plainly... silly. It's childish. If people did the work and got them... nothing about that has changed AT ALL. NEW players can now get a glamour item and that doesn't change a darn thing from a legacy player AT ALL. Pitching a fit about it doesn't change their tat, 'bo, sub cost, or anything else that they get or earned... including their names in credits, either. No one is discrediting legacy players, either. The salt is pointless and petty.

Wow salt over earrings. No one is taking your item away. You still beat a hard fight and have memories. Level up carpenter, build a bridge and get over it please, seriously.

I think this kind of exclusive item should be gated behind a similar accomplishment that people had to back in 1.0. A good move, in my opinion, would be to give it to players who clear all savage content in the stormblood expansion, or even better : beat nael deus darnus with minimum item level. That's kinda how I'm feeling too about it. In 1.0 even the normal mode Nael Darnus was not an easy feat by any means. I never did the HM fight but I remember the stories from others. Even if I played through 1.0 and did beat the normal mode Darnus. I won't lie but yes I would feel guilty and not right after getting something from the HM fight for nothing more then a few talky bits and one level 15 FATE.

I guess next year the Dalamud Horn and Legacy Chocobo will be free hand outs too.

At least SE is consistent in the realms of disappointment from broken promises.

There were a couple of threads posted a month or so ago when the rewards were datamined, by people trying to point out that this was stupid and should be changed. Because they believe(d) Square listen to feedback.

The threads were all deleted because it was based on information obtained via datamining. Information that was confirmed today, because... well the information was datamined, not made up.

Y'know, to fully illustrate how much people care versus how little Square does.

They could have quite simply put "replica" in front and nothing would have come about from this.

They've been exclusive long enough. As far as the story goes, all of our characters were there, whether we as players were or not. It's simply backstory for 2.0 characters, and backstory that's never gone into in detail. We've been asking a long time for the game to review what happened back then for those of us who didn't play that part of the story (and a chance for those who did to revisit it). It looks like this Rising event may finally be giving us that. Seems like a perfect way to celebrate a five year anniversary.

But why tho? That would literally change nothing but appease to a very small minority at this point. Sure they helped save the game and have posterity in the credits of 2.0. But 3.0 wouldn't have come to be if not for the growth it got from 2.0 non-legacy players. And that can be on repeat of 4.0 not being without the 3.0 growth.

Its called 'pay it forward'.

And who are these people? These people that care? You mean the minority inside a minority? Because the vast majority of us aren't legacy players, and I'm hopeful that it's only a loud minority among those legacy players whining about this.
They should be happy there's even an anniversary to celebrate, rather than try to be all about "my legacy status".

The only thing that's special about the people complaining about this is that they were willing to spend money on a (then) failing game. That's it. Period.
Makes me wonder, did they even support the game because they loved it? Or just because they wanted exclusive items, a chance to be 'special', in recognition (lol) for throwing money at a dying game?


The developers have shown their appreciation for those players already. If they feel less special now, well, it's because they aren't.

I legit don't see the issue here. Granted they have some level of symbolism for legacy players that have indeed done this fight, nothing can take that away, and if the value of that item to you is defined by the same metric as the remainder of the community view it, then it's either naivete, or the item simply didn't have that much value to you in the first place. They're also a symbol of the games history which frankly is worth celebrating at an anniversary event, I mean heaven forbid they put items that celebrate the history of the game. But alas I guess the majority seem to be more content with them celebrating an anniversary with items that are almost entirely irrelevant to the history of the game. Get over yourselves.

Who would've thought we'd celebrate an anniversary of the game with items that have special value to the game? Crazy right?

I'm sorry I'm a low 2.0 peasant unworthy of touching your glorious 1.0 items, I understand my devotion for this game means naught for I've not survived the meteor. /grovel
