Just for emphasis on it’s exclusivity, they highlighted the “exclusive” part.
It was a **** move for them to sell it after the fact.

I don't recall the Lightning attire as being specifically advertised as "exclusive" and, to be fair, unlike the Moogle Attire, players did not have to spend a cent beyond their subscription fee in order to get it. It was an in-game event that provided the gear. Lightning Attire needs to be considered in the same category as holiday event items, really, and those go into the Mogstation like clockwork every year.
I'm of the opinion that if something is advertised as an exclusive bonus from an item, pre-order, CE purchase, fan fest, etc, it should not make a reappearance later on. That was your extra bonus for spending additional cash outside of this game.
As someone who tends to buy CE versions of games for the sole purpose of the bonus minions/mounts/outfits, it would annoy me greatly if they started selling those items separately after the fact. No one likes to feel like they got suckered into buying something for a more expensive price. If I could just buy a base version of a game and then pick up the additional items for cheap later on? I'd totally do that. But that should be something advertised from the start. Don't be switching things up after the fact.
Well, the items from the Lightning event were labeled as exclusives within the game itself (under a special/exclusive tab in the armoire) for years after the event. I think it may have been labeled differently elsewhere though, so that’s up to interpretation.
Not sure how they were referred to in the event announcements, but I do recall the word “exclusive” used in the ads for the moogle attire in relation to that particular fan fest and stream. That precedent has been reached, and I hate to say it like this, but I’m still bitter. Not nearly as likely to buy into the next.
There is a saying “Two wrongs don’t make a right.” A crap load of wrongs isn’t any better.
Most people, including myself would agree that they ae really pushing it with that. Regardless of my feelings on it, and yours too, they sold it as a limited time offer item. That time has passed and it’s no longer available. You had a chance to buy it just like everyone else.
it would be 3 wrongs then, and I do not know a saying on that.
I do not agree with "exclusive in game items" attached to limited one time thing, that is how scams start off in general, so people feel more pressured in buying something they do not want to. I said what I said because I do not agree to the exclusive item thing, but I felt some on here support such a thing so I wanted more weight of an argument in why everything should be in mog station after a set time. (save 1.0 stuff, that is a whole different situation, since there was no original intent in having that situation anyway)
Well that's interesting... they even highlighted the exclusivity there.
Did anyone go to Fanfest PURELY to get the moogle outfit and with the idea in mind that only those fanfest-attendees could get it? If you did, are you upset that it's now available 3 years later?
I don't believe they (as in SE) did. If you look at it, it's clearly been edited to highlight the exclusive sentence and it doesn't properly cover the letters. My guess is that whoever uploaded that image originally did it.

But the point is still valid that SE made something exclusive then went back on it, regardless of who highlighted it.
