My game already hiccups, freezes, and lags pretty bad, no matter what settings I put graphics at >.> Smaller areas, not to mention with the better engine that'll be used in 2.0, will fix a lot of these issues as well as making everything look nicer.

Why on earth would subscription counts matter? Graphics don't determine subs, and shouldn't even be mentioned in something like this.

I also find it funny that you say this is based off of personal preference then accuse my personal pref of being wrong. Please, not to sound rude, but just think before you speak.

Maplestory is still pretty damn big in numbers and it's a sprite based side scroller (in essence) so yeah, graphics are the last thing that would contribute to sub numbers unless you truly are the type of player that would bypass the opportunity to play 16 bit era games (if you never have) simply because it's not photo realistic graphics.

And yet you seem so confident that it would be better with more defined one lines and in depth graphic then we have now. It reasonable for large areas to have similar landscape and base design. DO you think you walk accross a desert and then BAM, it changes into forrest instantly. plains area...then....BAM.....you in the middle of a desert again all of the sudden. NO, plains are large and outstretching, mountain ranges run on and on. Just because you want everything to look identicle to the concept at, does not mean thats the "right way". Just because every zone doesn't have opposing and contrasting scenery as the last doesn't make it the locical, wisest, or technically most sound way to go.

Well you and many other are sitting here posting "your opinions" of the art and graphics and stating it as fact. Just because anyone here post that they do not feel the finished product is in the spirit of the concept art does not make it true.

Why on earth would subscription counts matter? Because this is a business and subscritions are all that counts, your a fool to attempt to tell me otherwise. Everything a dev does in this game is simply a means to an end to keep players happy, gain more players and maximize the sub count.

Graphics don't determine subs, and shouldn't even be mentioned in something like this.

I did think. Then I posted actually proven facts of reason a game client can have issues based on graphics and zone lines. I posted actual facts of issues and concerns that cause hiccups. You posted your opinion of the art and claimed it more factual then my actual facts. Odd, and here your telling me I should think? Brilliant sir.

Personally I feel graphics are a bit overatted, but to sit here and claim they are not a factor in subscription numbers is asinine. Look at the forums here, there is thread after thread of grahpics and zone debate, including this one. There are tones of threads of player character graphics, more on gear graphics, and more still on WS/Spell graphics, They poll and test on this, look around and read some of it.

I could sit here and say "oh in my opinion storyline does not effect subs" but that doesn't make it true.

At launch, I found myself wanting to love this game so much, to be addicted to it, but it just wasn't there. Then I resubbed shortly after P2P started up using crysta I had left over, to see how the game is, and now I find myself playing nothing but FFXIV when I have free time.

I have a brand new video game that I had been waiting a long time for, and I've only managed to tear the shrink-wrapper off. Haven't even put the game in the system yet.

I know this might change when I hit level cap, but until then, I hope 2.0 doesn't ruin what the game is now, but only continues on with what the new team has been doing.

We're not really saying anything horrible about the game, and its as we all know the game was rushed so they may have tried to rush the development of the cities for all we know I am not saying they did but maybe. Even though she was not being rude, and along with that the reason I posted was that way maybe they do a somewhat better job the second time around.

It is quite fun its just not all the way there yet for me at least at this point, I'm not really playing just cause I don't really want enter 2.0 with not much to do I spent most of my time with Ifrit/moogle when I was logged and if not that then farming Karrakul Fleece to get more +3 Materia Items so I did get a little bored, also you really need a linkshell to increase its "Fun", which I didn't have one when I left.

There are three main components for computer game: story, gameplay and graphics
There's already lots of MMORPGs with good story and gameplay but there's few with good graphics. So to sell lots of copies it's obviously a good idea to target that ;)
Sadly an MMORPG can't live only from good graphics (especially if it crashes every five minutes)

I agree with you, and also I'm in a pretty good linkshell (good for my tastes anyway). Mostly social, no real rules, just playin' the game as we go. Definitely one of the reasons I log on every chance I get. But the game definitely still has its issues, I just hope they don't take a step back with 2.0, but continue to improve on it as they have so far.

I also agree with Coldfire. Graphics aren't important, but when the gameplay, music, and story are great, it's nice to have graphics to match.
