SMN 4.06 Changes

There is no reason to do a full caster comp because Physical DPS simply do more with more synergies. Embolden's value also gets lessened when you start removing physical damage dealers out of the equation. I'm also aware of how RDM's Enchanted Weaponskills work.

You are forgetting Displacement and Corps. These make up roughly 4~5% of your damage whilst Contre and Fleche are 14~15% combined. You're sitting at 18~20% of your DPS being Physical - Piercing damage.

Yeah, I played my job summ to 70 and have such an unenjoyable time with group mobs in dungeons like Kugane that I stopped running her. My stand alone summ now just sits at 60. Not bothering, too much work lol.

There are only 3 magical dps in the game right now and:

>You don't want RDM in caster comps since it buffs physical damage, but you can still take one if you want to.
>Bards are just too usefull right now, simply having one in the group highly increases the chances of killing a boss.
>You need one melee dps for LB but: you don't want MNKs since they work better in physical damage comps, and if you wanted to have as much casters as possible in this comp(BLM, RDM and SMN) so you also don't want a DRG since they need a bard in the group to pull their full potential, so this leaves you with only NIN and SAM to choose for melee.

So... A caster comp is hard to build(you need very specific jobs), and you only have room for 2 casters(3 if you really want to give up a bard), and does not actually synergize very well. While for physical comps as long as you have a bard and don't repeat jobs pretty much anything goes.

There's been an idea going around to reduce dreadwyrm aether requirements to one rather than two (like in pvp?), so that bahamut comes out much more often, and weakening some of his skills to make up for it. It's not my... personal desire for the class, but it'd be better than system we have currently, if.... annoying to other due to the sheer size of bahamut.

But one of the bigger things people have been asking for is also the simplest, and also the least game-breaking to have: Bring Sustain back.

Gonna be honest. I don't really miss Sustain, and I would rather they simply allow your pet to be healed for a percentage of your DPS if they needed to do that.

As for the changes, I'm not terribly surprised by this, if only because it's inevitable. They wanted Summoner to "feel like a Summoner", but they didn't put in even half the tools necessary to have Summoner go that route. So now they have to buff the Warlock part of the class because, it turns out, you can't just slap one summon on the class while lowering damage sources everywhere else and pretend that the class is now what you always envisioned it to be, even though that's not what it was for years. They could've just buffed the Ruins instead, but the fact that they buffed the DoTs is telling.

As far as I can tell, they don't know what they want the class to actually do. Chances are, they won't in 4.1 either. I'm embracing BLM in the meantime.

Ok 4,1, ok but they didn't speak of 4.1 (only said "later") + it will be the third time I'm waiting desperatly for something to change, starting to get angry there.

How? DRG only got potency changes that didn't address their issues as well. They still lose all resources on intermissions and it still takes forever and a day to build to Nastrond which only gives 960 potency around every 90 seconds if you have to build from scratch. They just got a bandaid as well. I get that SMNs are frustrated, but that doesn't mean that DRGs still don't have their complaints as well.

My bad, it's just that several actions got modified the two patch notes (I agree the first one was only apparent, nothing real), while smn only got 3 lines in different patch notes since june. As if everything was perfectly fine with it according to devs while most of the SMN community is disgusted with job.

But of course if changes don't do DRG good enough, they should work on it more as well. At least the numerous changes show that they know they failed (they still do but the effort is there). SMN don't have this "luck"
