Sentinal is a thorn in our sides

Sentinel doesn't need a fix or a nerf or a buff, what SE needs to do is design fights that don't revolve solely around a single ability. Can you beat Ifrit without Sentinel? SURE CAN but why would you even bother? The OP also needs to get out and make friends so he isn't foreveralone.jpeg and sad.

Agreed, I've survived getting hit by Hellfire without Sentinel before, having it just leaves you at half your health, rather than near death/dead.

Still, you can whine about it all you want, jobs are meant to supplement the armory system, not to replace it entirely, and it's still in one's best interest to level more than one class.

Similarly, ARC's shouldn't be left out of the Ifrit fight just because they constantly get stuck in animation lock, or LNC's shouldn't be favored over other DD jobs for their high DPS and ability to avoid Sear.

This kind of game design just keeps players from sticking with the jobs they actually like to play, and promotes more elitist mentalities among the community. :(

Yes, it is doable without Sentinel however, as he pointed out 'give one of your mages a heads up that you'll need a single Cure after Hellfire' This makes you a burden. You might not want to think it, be told it or consider it BUT asking another class to go out of their way or change what they are supposed to be doing (either Cure III/Curaga II bomb on the tank) is putting more strain on the whole party. So yes, it's doable without...but only because other people in the party cover for you. (PS, it costs a healer less mp to let you die and raise you...esp since another DD should raise you since the healer usually can't reach you as easily nor should they waste MP on you) And if you are playing as a mage...you pretty much DO need it...

...or wait until after patch 1.20 goes live

im in the same boat, but im waiting till 1.20 cause you can get most cross class skills up till level 16.

I was a conjurer, and survived about 25 times without sentinel. Stoneskin, protect and shell. Your HP has to be full. Fire resist gear. I would live with about 500 hp. This game does not RELY on having sentinel, to beat Ifrit. It just is the easy button in my opinion.


Edit: looks like lots of others feel that way too. Just use the abilities and items you have to try to survive.

no, they abuse it. You can survive ifrit w/o sentinel, but the most of ifrit pt nowday is like this : No sentinel, no ifrit

the player idiotic ruin the game & the skill themselves and they deserver it.

the guide of beat ifrit are suppose to give information about how it work, but the player do exactly like they say and look down on the hardcore on forum, you guys are genius :D

and now they have new toy to abuse
