XIV on PS3 wasn't released until 2013 though. So I'm sure SE knew of the shortcoming it would have and made it anyways. So from consumer standpoint doesn't matter when the system came out it when the came game out.

This is like old news already.....
SE made a promise regarding FFXIV on PS3 which they kept - which is unusual in and of itself, but especially given the circumstances. When FFXIV was re-built the expanded PC compatibility included PCs that were contemporary to the original PS3. If you look at the actual specifications and issues that low end PCs experienced, it reads very similarly to the issues players experienced with PS3.
Back in the day, I used PS3 as did my wife and son, we all upgraded to PS4 and never looked back - so to speak. However the only real issue we ever experienced with the PS3 was when fighting Odin, or the hunt zerg rushes. Labyrinth of the Ancients (24-player) was never a problem, frame rates were sometimes low, but rarely unplayably so. the Svara fate in Coerthas was the one other issue early on, but once the draw priority was changed, it improved.
However those same issues existed for players with lower end PCs, so I don't see your argument here.
Please read next as it's not directed to anyone specificly. It's just my personnal impression. Don't overreact or take it for yourself.
Reading through posts about "console vs PC", I understand that PC players only care about what a game should look like. "I have an expensive powerful stuff! Games MUST use it! XIV developers are stupid if they can't make my rig SHINE!
O.M.G. Ok, let's do some analogy
What if developers are, say, kart racing enthusiast? They build nice tracks for other kart racing enthusiasts. Everyone can happely come, only requirement being to have one's own kart and pay some entrance fee.
Then one rich enthusiast comes with his fomula one and complains it won't be useful. The tracks are too small, too winding, too narrow. Tracks must be adjusted to formula one's standards! Damn!
With my console, I consider myself a kart enthusiast. I'm happy I can go to tracks designed for karts. I know Fomula Ones go faster. It's just way out of reach.
Don't tell me I'm poor with my kart when you can have a formula one. Don't tell me tracks must all be designed for formula ones because you have one. Don't tell me my karting disturbs your racing.
Go to Formula one tracks or get a kart and have fun with us.
Compare the time saved just buying a console and playing the bally game versus researching a compatible build and wrestling with drivers, system updates breaking things and bizarre unique-sounding bugs (check out the PC ratio in bug reports). If you're a PC enthusiast anyway PC gaming makes perfect sense. If you hate the wretched things and just want to play a game with everyone else without being the scapegoat for hundreds of problems that have nothing to do with you, console is fine and it's the Windows Police who have the problem. If you guys want a better featureset, please ask for that instead of trying to criticise how people you've never met enjoy (and fund) the game.
PlayStation support helped save this game your welcome get off your high horses.
It is not mean spirited, they act in joy because how much it brings down the game.
"We want more inventory space"
can't, ps3 limitations.
The reason ps3 was not open to the game at all in 1.0 had partly to do with that. It couldn't handle all the data with all the items. There used to be 3 versions of every item in the game. Also the devs had problems degrading the graphic detail enough to let the Ps3 to handle it. The Ps3 could not handle FFXIV 1.0, that is why it was never released, has nothing to do with being mean spirited.
Crafters, people that like to glam gear, and people that gear a lot of different jobs well lack space to even function, because of "Ps3 limitations" Same thing with FFXI, people got sick and tried of hearing no ps2 limitations, so what do you do? discontinue the game for them.
