There wasn't even that much maintenance when Heavensward launched... why in the world would you think a mere patch (even a sizable one) would cause more issues than an entire expansion would?

I can download at a max of 40 KB/s. Judging from previous main content patches, I'm expecting this patch to be between 1 GB and 1.5 GB.

That means a download time of 8-12 hours for me. THAT is the 'rush'.

You're probably right, but based on your liberal use of the caps lock I think you're way too upset about this. Maybe SE isn't doing things as efficient as they could, but the game is still getting made, the world is still turning, and everyone will still be ok if we get the patch a little later. Its like when you go to a sandwich shop, order, and they say "Sorry, we're all out of honey ham." Could they have done something to ensure they had enough honey ham that day? Probably, but you don't tell them that. You just say "Dang, ok. I'll take a turkey sandwich" and the world goes on.

Actually I just hold in Shift for that. I grew up with chat rooms that did not support italics, bold or underscores, so it kinda became a habit to use all caps for emphasis rather than to shout. My apologies.

What nonsense is this? This is not how download servers alongside game servers work. You're right, it's not rocket science and yet people believe (like you) somehow the game servers are tied to patches - you're wrong - simple as.

And who's fault is that? It's not Square Enix's fault you chose a crappy internet provider. And don't tell me that was your only choice you don't have to live in the middle of no where.

I actually have this problem and the ISP I have is literally the only choice as all the others are somehow slower. :V

Sorry you have crappy internet and it personally inconveniences you but I doubt many will be inconvenienced that the patch wasn't out 12 hours before the servers came back up.
