What? People are definitely still interested in T5; I've helped with around 20 T5 clears (free, I don't sell runs) in the past two weeks alone, all of which filled up quickly in PF. I'd estimate the ratio of T5 clears to T9 ones that I do is probably 3:1.

I brought it up becuase it is an example that fit the context. Comment away, I'm just as free asyou are to reply. There are many ways to reply without being judgemental about thinks you know very little of. As for more information, you need no more information, and in any case, given what you did with what I already posted, I would be foolish in the extreme to supply you with anything further.

That's very ironic, coming from you. Your position were judged on what you provided. If you refuse to provide more information for your case, then you also should've kept silent in the first place. You said you kicked two people for run selling because you assume it ties with RMT. That is silly and misinformed. If you knew these guys were tied with RMT, that'd be a different situation, but that's not what you've said, and as such, don't try to pin the sin of ignorance on others.

I have a few people in my FC who engage in ERP. They know that a good portion of the FC frowns upon it, but they also know its not explicitly against our FC rules. if it were, they wouldn't. There is a big difference between "knowing how the fc feels about their conduct", and "against the fc rules explicitly".

not wanting to push you further, because we are already slightly off the topic, but if you aren't going to give any further information, we are can only work with what you do give us. Whether the particular kicking was warranted or not, is off topic, however, so we should get back on topic, of discussing the Ethical ramifications of selling runs.

Personally, my viewpoint is "if it isn't against the terms of service, or against any Written rules from your server, fc, linkshell, or otherwise, it is ethical to do whatever you enjoy doing." next person?

I don't really see a problem with selling runs. Personally, I'd never do it because I like to use every fight as an opportunity to learn how to deal with different situations on my main class. I did nearly buy my first Titan EX clear (back when there was only 3 primals) simply because I could not find a party that could and Levi was nearing its release. I couldn't afford the clear so I actually didn't clear Titan EX until Ramuh came out. But I'm glad now that I did it the way I did, it made it more rewarding for myself and I've never considered buying a clear since then.

I once knew a static who sold clears for really cheap (like 100k a clear) and 100% of the money went to the member who was in charge of the raid food/potions. This worked really well for them, as the money allowed them all to have enough items to progress through the current end-game content without breaking their banks.

I'll never understand the concept of paying someone else to play the game for you. It's like buying your mate a car so he can drive you to the supermarket.

If you had read what I wrote, I specifically mentioned players spending 20mil-100mil or more on a kill. Whilst primals now might cost 500k-1mil, back when Shiva Ex was first being sold, on Odin it was 7 million per run. Hearing of players buying 5 runs for 35 million, then saying they'd buy more runs later, after they'd bought more gil, is exactly what I am talking about. Not the chump change you're referring to. The 90% figure is also based on my experience of other player's income, players that I know, players that I have crafted for. Granted it's not 100% accurate, but I'm quite confident when I say that 90% of players on any server, will not be walking around with 50 million +, just like in the real world where the top 1% command 30%+ of all of the wealth.

I also never understood the people who bought runs for "story purposes". Why not just open up youtube and look up the videos?

If it's for gear and showing off... well, that's another story. Some people just love to adorn oneself with borrowed plumes.

its mainly for progression.

The devs have mentioned that we have to finish the main storyline, including the 2.55 trial, to access Ishgard, and also that FCOB completion will be required to access The Alexander raid. so, its in my best interest to keep up.

To be accurate, its more like you not having a license, but buying your friend, who has a license, a car, and making them drive you around in it.

FCOB completion is NOT a requirement for accessing Alexander, this was stated during the announcement of the raid during the Tokyo Fan Fest if I remember correctly.
