Dragoons are getting their Wyvern (not explicitly announced, Yoshi vid inside)

Like I said many times, when the Wyvern is out give the DRG some kind debuff that reduce his STR and ATT (for example) and add this reduced stats to the Wyvern (have to balance it out ofc). In that case DRG won't get imba. And If you feel that the DRG is gimp with the Wyvern, simply don't summon it and the DRG will keep his strenge as he used to have.

It could possibly mean when he said that the limit breaks are being tweaked so it matched their job.
So Dragoon's wouldn't be charging Final Heaven and Monk's won't be wielding a sword.

I don't want Dragoon to be a pet class any more than you do, but why can't it be? People act like things from FFXI don't count as classic Final Fantasy traits. They seem to think that as long as it was in any Final Fantasy but 11, then it okay to use. You could mention something completely out of place with 14, but no one will complain if it has some obscure link to FF3.

People also seem to forget that new stuff is added in every Final Fantasy title. That is how the franchise got it's wealth of traditions and lore. It's not like they are talking about making Ifrit the god of water... it's adding something that is easily explainable lore-wise and even has precedent.

I don't want another Wyvern pet, due to... well, already stated, but feeling like I need to rely on a damn Wyvern. Besides, dragoons in this game are more inclined to KILL dragons. However, I would agree to the limit break idea.

Probably because in every incarnation of the Dragoon in Final Fantasy, they have only used a Wyvern pet exactly once, in XI. Every other incarnation, including the very first in FF2 and the most popular in FF4, didn't use them at all.

It's the same as Ninja being a tank job. Only happened in XI and only because cleverly using job mechanics.

Dragoons. While they became iconic when they were first introduced. I recall seeing them riding on top of wyverns in the art back then and to me they only ever stood out thanks to FFTA and FFXI.

So without a Wyvern Pet or FFT's breath attack it just feels like a DPS class with a jump animation novelty that has no flavor to it.

Currently Dragoons are nothing more than a laughing stock and even Square-Enix made fun of them in the 16 bit Titan Extreme video. Maybe it is time to add something new to them outside of jump so they can stand out even when they jump.

Personally I'd rather wyverns get added and do very small dps.
That way the new Dragoon abilities consists of breath attacks for AoE damage abilities which can help it stand out more and Spirit Surge so current Dragoons can jump more and their jumps get beneficial stats.

Win win situation right there since Dragoons wont get nerfed.

When I posted this, I was actually just excited at the possibility of getting a cool ass, role play friendly mount. I don#t care if it becomes a companion type entity or not, I just want to ride around on it. having said that, I do like what Yoshi said about it. perhaps it's some kind of sub class of DRG or something.

Even if that were the case (which it isn't because you ARE jumping the gun and using the OP to rile up people's FFXI nostalgia), that'd be very lore-breaking seeing what DRGs are in Hydaelin and what they stand for. I'd see the possibility of a wyrm defecting from the dravanian hordes to your side and acting as a mount. Even then I'd ask "why is the DRG not killing that dragon out of instinct, since that's kind of what they do and who they are".

Also, as I stated previously, the sentence the OP is quoting to claim that the pet has been confirmed is highly misleading and out of context. Wyvern pets have NOT been confirmed at all. Of course, this won't stop posts popping up for the next patch with people saying "YOSHI PROMISED US WYVERNS WHY ISNiT IT HAPPENING!!! RAWR! WE WERE LIED TO!
