hmmm... as an 89 rng myself, I never had a Kclub, but there were times where I was asked to use Dagger or Axe WS while fighting Abyssea NMs. Also contrary to what you may think, rng could do decent melee dmg, certainly not as high as a war, bst , thf, or dnc (the jobs w high skill in daggers and axes) but they made up for it by being the most accurate job in the game.

Level up your archer and get a feel of how things are without auto attack, from what i see you're in early level when you start using multishot, this job is not a light shot spam, you'll get what i mean as soon as you keep ranking up.

What FFXI are you playing? RNG is still little more than a glass cannon that continues to get out shined both in damage and utility on a regular basis by just about every melee in XI, most notably WAR MNK & NIN who currently dominate Abyssea without contest (and for good reason).

Are they seriously making AA activate on it's own as soon as you're in range? I thought we were getting something along the lines of XI's system where you draw your weapon (Active Mode in XIV's case) and then attempt to swing at your target. I can see the potential for headaches this could cause with ranged AA, however as I've said a number of times in other posts:

1) It's XI's old dev team at work here. As such, I feel it's only natural to fear the worst in terms of Haste and how it may potentially throw game balance out the window once again just as it did in XI.

2) Even if Haste works to speed up ranged attacks as well, as others have pointed out, it will grossly favor AA over manual attacks due to various factors, most notably lag.

3) Even in XI you can still use ranged attacks up close (it's almost encouraged with Guns as they have the closest sweet spot). You won't be as accurate as you would be at range, but you can still do it.

Again, they are shifting leves to solo play. So I'm rather pessimistic as to what this is going to do to ARC's solo ability. Monsters don't just sit idly by within range of your projectiles. I fully expect to see a lot of ARC attempt to abuse the deaggro range in the wake of this update.

been there in all 3 cities for 2 weeks playing everyday for 2 + hours.. only thing i saw was 1 shout for raptor party. Other then that no one talked not even in the LS i was in. I like ffxiv and didn't want to quit it. But if no one talks it isn't an mmo to me. You seriously think I would go back to WoW if I felt like i didn't need to? Answer no. I loosely like that game due to the solo aspect as in i shate solo mmo. :) I'm more or less playing it cuz my best friend/ ex boyfriend is playing it. I do not quit mmo lightly.

I played archer and solo'ed leve's a good bit. And I had really no issues living. And this was starting as an archer. If they keep close shot all you do is pretty much stand with in the basic range hit it with 2 arrows use close shot de target it to run back a bit and fire at it and use a ws skill.

In WoW I play hunter and even with AA i just spam my light shot and the shot that gives some focus back. (then again also no arrows so no need to worry about money)

And even though there are moments of silence, there IS people who wants to chit-chat a little, so you can just shout something, like "Heya!" or "Sup fags!".
Just point that out there.

And didn't Abyssea pretty much rewrite the rules of combat with the key items and using certain weapons for procing a weakness on a mob?

Either way, FFXI is a horriblep standard on how a ranged class should be.

When did I say that RNG > WAR, MNK, NIN, SAM ECT? I said it was used heavily. Calm down there champ before you crap your pants.

anyway , Archer autottack meh , if its implemente ok , else ok too :P

And while and archer can move and still "shoot" is like a lancer moving and "trying to pierce throw enemys" , or a mage casting a spell while moving....... ect ect

mages stop twice while casting, once to initiate, and second time when actually cast, lnc also stops when they do peirce, in fact they move 1 step forward. so uhhhhhh what?
