Glaring issues that were NOT addressed in 2.1

You're missing Omni's point. Like, completely missing.

He isn't saying, "Hey, I want you to hand me my BIS list so I know exactly how to gear." He is saying he wants to be able to make informed decisions about the way that he gears, instead of having to sort of "guesstimate," which is what is happening right now.

Even if, for argument's sake, you're right and he just wants to see that ~16 Crt is 1% critical, and X and X% dmg and X adds X and X and blahblahblah... Guess what! It is still handing the BiS list to people. There are games like that, and in those games where you don't have to guess, everyone ends up in the same gear set or "you're doin it wrong!"

ARR is far more forgiving for figuring out statistical weights than XI was, I'd call it almost downright transparent. I say almost because people have not yet nailed down the exact damage formula. In a game where you have all the knowledge, you'll never have breakthroughs that completely rebuild a job's gear set because someone figured out a magic new thing. Some people may hate that, but how stagnant would a game be if the status quo never changed?

Well I wouldn't have been able to solo "What a Boar" for my Sylph daily without my healer choco.

Everyone still ends up in the same gear in XIV. The only thing the lack of transparency in stats does is cause frustration among those of us who would like to fine tune our approach.

Have you been in the Drg rotation reborn thread lately? People keep testing more and the gear keeps changing. Lack of transparency causes frustration for people who have no will to make themselves better. You just want to be told what's best and go put it on... you can learn that from here, as you obviously know about the forums, and just do that.

People who actually want to fine tune an approach are doing so now, as innovators, not as lemmings. And there are still options; there are bards that are heavy into critical for RoB and others who pile determination instead and are parsing very well. There are mages wearing vitality rings because they like the safety the extra HP provides and found out they were parsing better, though it isn't necessary. There will always be people finding new, better, or different things when stats have some air of mystery. I'm waiting for the acc > SkSp to 4xx > det build... even though right now, I think SkSp sucks as something to stack.

I agree with the OP.

Particularly on the stats being a bit more transparent.

I'd like to know exactly how STR/DEX/Parry relate to your parry reduction and parry rate; a visual percentage in my stats window is much more convenient than having to swap all my gear and gather monsters and run a parser and back-calculate my rates while trying to pinpoint the tiers or caps on a chart.

Just show us the damn number in our menu.

Half the arguments/theorycraft in the tank forum is over assumptions and mythical numbers that eventually leads us to no conclusion, or one unable to be proven.

Knowing that crit rate contains X specific modifier in no way hurts experimentation with different builds. You realize that eventually folk will actually settle on a "best" build in your DRG thread, right? In a game with stats, there is always a best. Groping around in the dark is not some magical wonderland where everyone becomes magically equal by virtue of their innovation.

This is EXACTLY my point. Why is the player base expected to read and stay up to date on a 50 page thread just to figure out if they want to equip a piece of Allagan over a piece of Myth? I should be able to equip one piece of gear, look at my stats, then equip another piece of gear, look at my stats, and then decide which one I want to wear.

And considering how boring gear is already, letting us actually see our stats would do a little to make us feel like we are progressing. Going from 480 to 520 crit rating means nothing to me. It's arbitrary in the context of the game. I assume it means I'm criting more, because the number is higher, but all I can do is guess or believe what other players tell me it does. And that's stupid.
