100% this.
My only fear is that they end up doing to Hrothgar female what they did to Au ra female, when comparing original designs vs what we got.

Ready to switch my highlander to a female hrothgar I hope they get more muscles tbh.
I think it's safe to say that female Hrothgar will be just as bestial as the males.
Female Ronso, the race that Hrothgar are based on, have already been shown in previous games, and they are just as bestial as the males (with a noticeably more feminine appearance). They were an excellent female equivalent to the males, with their "beastliness" being parallel to their male counterparts.

As awesome as that female Kimahri fan art is, it's just too human-like and too far removed from what makes Ronso/Hrothgar recognizable. It's closer to Pantera from Bless or Firran from Archeage, and those are pretty much Miqo'te with facial fur.
If they did try to tone down the females' "beastliness", it might end up like this. These are screenshots I found of Skyrim mods attempting to recreate the Ronso race.

It would be pretty awkward to have something like this in the game, especially considering that Ronso have already been featured in previous games.
The dev team have concept art and character models to use for inspiration. I doubt they're going to tone it down and give us a Korean MMO type of situation where the females are completely mismatched with the males.
For that, I'm confident female Hrothgar will be bestial, meaning they will be a rightful and proper female equivalent to the males. They won't just be Miqo'te with facial fur like Firran or Pantera (or these horrible Skyrim mods I found).
Indeed, if the end goal is to get all of 5 people to be female hrothgar then they will rule 63 the males
imo the only thing thats notably masculine about female ronso is their shorter hair. slap some anime hair on them and I think they'd be super cute

They will pull almost entirely from female roegadyn players whom already are the lowest played race/gender combination by a good margin.
I just think they should go more of a middle ground as slapping a literal lions head on a female roes body would look very off putting. Honestly i don't think it really works for males and more often than not they look out of place depending on the facial features.
I actually agree i like that art but to me that's a better blend of beast and human features (ronso in general seem to have shorter snouts?) Than what hrothgar have shown. This could be remedied by a good variety of face options but im not optimistic on that front. Hair def plays a big part too
Yeah, in general ronso are more beast-y people vs beast heads on people. Its most noticeable when you compare the hrothgar's ronso inspired head option to the other 3 heads. They're my hope for the middle ground- beastly enough to look like the female counterpart to the guys still pretty ladies c:
Nothing is a waste of resources when it comes to races. Male Viera, Female Hrothgar, hair fixes for both of the new races, and even suggestions like Ivalice Moogle, and Burmecians are not a waste. Even if you happen to think so, or if the devs say another thing. Sometimes things takes years to convince them to do, but they still get done.
Things can be a relative waste, if their working on stuff for female hrothgar who are likely to be the least played gender/race combination my a big margin in some say takes away from time that could be used on the broadly appealing races. Its a relative waste also big difference is elezen are a base race and porting gear and hair over to them is "easy". Female hrothgar at the very least will not get access to the hairs/headgear cause ports are not simple so any time they spend personally designing stuff for them takes away from all other races so essentially something like 2% of the active playerbase is eating into the Graphics teams time when that time could be spent on the other 98%. This however does assume they dont find a fix for the hair/headgear issues
I'm still holding out hope that the female Hrothgar are fox/kitsune like and can have multiple tails.
Sure, elezen is what you call wasted potential; it could have been a popular race. However, these are different circumstances, we already had elezen - for years - we didn't have male viera or female hrothgar. We were told time and time again how much of a resource drain the addition of new races are, but players continuously demanded them anyway, despite the limitations, with no regard for these issues, and SE did/are doing them anyway despite these issues. Now the health of the game will suffer, and we end up getting less overall just because a small portion of players want to play bunny boys, and a couple players want to play or have female hrothgar for the sake of 'completion', or "no gender lock!".
I have ZERO care in the world about this "No Generlocking" campaign the playerbase wants to impose.
I just want to play a Tall, Tough, Sexy BAMF of a Female Beastmen; that I pray to god won't look like a soft humanfaced anime/human girl with a couple of animal feature thus making them Miqote 2.0
Hardly anybodies going to play them? Good, will make my Avatar more special. And in some cases this will be pretty accurate to alot of Fantasy where Beastmen aren't exactly seen mingling around civil folk very often.
I was gutted to not see female hrothgars, I was then gutted once again they made bunny boys first because of the army of cat bois demanding it. Still happy they are making them, just sad it will probably take another whole expansion for it to happen. Just plz no hunch for these ladies.
Once they are all done I hope they add the hairstyles to the bunny, I had to swap off it due to not being able to use any of the hairstyles I have earned, that and the lack of hats.. I understand their reasons but honestly just let them clip through I don't care.
Well, technically there are 3 "subtypes" to the Hrothgar race: Lion, Tiger, and Wolf. At least that's how Yoshida described the three main faces/features. Lion and Tiger are definitely feline, but wolf is canine. Female Hrothgar will likely have the same subtype choices.
the 4 heads are lion (the head your icon is), lion (runar), ambiguous big cat (the one with the funky moustache), and ronso. the interview where "wolf" was mentioned was discussing another animal that they looked into when they were brainstorming a beast race. lions won out.
More specifically, it'd be lion (Runar), tiger/lynx (Magnus/Radovan), Coeurl, and Ronso. It is likely females would either use the same cats, or be based on more lean ones for a more 'feminine' look, like a cheetah or cougar.
It would've been fun if Hroths were more ambiguous though, like have a mix of feline and canine traits
Why do people want lupin playable? I never understood this. The community complains so much about viera and hrothgars not being able to use hats. Do you really think helmets, and even shoes, and who knows what else, would be able to fit a lupin? It would be way, way worse in the customization department.
Because people wanted playable Lupin back in Stormblood where they were introduced.
This was a thing WAY before the Male Viera & Female Hrothgar "Issue" came into play, and before the Limited headgear options problem became a thing.
Both Headgear and footgear they would have to figure out. Either they manage to figure out how to make unique versions/designs for Lupin, or the make unique glams to make up for it.
Not opposed to Lupin. Considering they are a nice callback to Kelger from FF5. The first "beast" hero in the series.

If the Hrothgals look anything like this I will race change in a heartbeat.
They are probably going to follow the standard rules of dimorphism. So expect heights between female Elezen and Viera. Although the game really doesn't need more furries.
Guys if you want to know how Female Hrothgar will look, then just look at FFX's female Ronso. They are the same race with a different name and origin. They seem to be about the same in terms of height their muscle mass is slightly smaller maybe think Rogaedyn female maybe a bit stronger looking and they lack a horn from the looks of it.
The ronso originally had arms that looked a bit longer than they do similar to Elezen but the Hrothgar do not really have that. The viera also had that trait but it seems to have balanced out in 14 for both races so I assume it will be the same.
Yoshi P is listening though so if you guys are vocal enough they will probably add certain options (Probably faces or facial features at most) that you guys will be happy with.
Female hrothgar gonna look so good in 3D
