I have yet to see a Roegadyn female in the game. I wonder if any had been made, ever.

you're probably joking but..
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...your-Roe%21%21
According to XIVCensus out of about 12,000,000 accounts there's only around 130,000 female Roes. That's barely scraping 1% of the total population.
Because we have been told countless times they do not want to do bestial races because it necessitates remodeling every piece of gear to accommodate a race not even half the playerbase will touch. What will happen if Viera ever do become a thing is they'll take the Elezen or Midlander model, alter it slightly while adding a cotton ball tail and rabbit ears. Regardless, I, personally, would rather they increase the customization of existing races before adding a new one. Hence why I don't want Viera in 5.0.
they have said that adding more customization will be a trouble, remember, hell even separate horn from the face for the au ra is not possible...
Honestly, I think the game has enough races. If they did make a new one I can bet it won't look much different from what we already have. If they added Viera it would just end up being Elezen with bunny ears and people will start complaining saying "This isn't Viera!!!1!!1!" You need to realise the Viera you see in 12 won't be the Viera we get. They have so many features that they would need to alter pieces of gear quite heavily to fit them.
Also just because you like the concept art SE created for it doesn't mean that's how it would look. Just look at the Au Ra concept art and see what we actually got they are vastly different. The thing about Art is you can do anything you want while the game itself has limitations and costs resources to make so they will cut corners.
Which only highlights a new race will see minimalistic design difference similar to Au Ra. Perhaps they should work on overhauling their system to improve customization before worrying about another race, hmm? Keep the horns together, but give us more faces, eyes and etc.
Depends on the design they choose. The cuter concept art variant did. Regardless, it doesn't change the fact they will be an Elezen or Midlander with minor difference. As for the second thing. What, exactly, was unclear about that? I prefer more customization options than a new race.
I feel people are in denial about what the majority of the international player base wants. Has no one picked up on the fact that the final au ra design chosen is a cute, petite female instead of a beast woman because... you guessed it, the majority of the playerbase world wide likes Miqo'te and Midlander females! The "strong, capable female" races in this game are a train wreck imho. Why do they have such masculine emotes? Why can't tall, heavily muscled women be elegant and retain some sort of grace?
Why should SE as a business add in a race that the minority of their customers want? Why not use their resources to please as many customers as possible? Let's be realistic. Fantasia sales will explode and possibly crash the Mog Station the moment they announce Vieras. I absolutely adore vieras and can only hope they are elegant and mature in their emotes and voices. PLEASE let them not seem so butch (no offense to anyone who is/loves that aspect, it's just not my aesthetic!).
Those Feet are the issue actually from what I understand, they would need to remodel every Footwear to fit Viera.
If you mean that 2.0 Poll that was something like "Beastlike Race" and not specifically Viera. We got the Au'Ra from that though Viera where considered with Artwork and all.
It can still happen but my worry is though that people have rather specific expectations and don't just want "Hyur now with Bunny Ears".
Which in my Opinion is the Issue actually, if they make Viera many People will be disappointed because S-E might make cuts to make them better fit a Hyur like mold.
Not being against Viera (if people would be happy why not) just worry about people ending up disappointed.
They were not implying that the people wanting Viera are the minority, but more that the majority of people seem to prefer races to be more cutesy/dainty (like miqo/au ra/hyurs) and so it may not make sense for them to give us the Fran model. The "stronger" races, especially on the female side, are definitely in the minority.
For me, the perfect solution would be to have one clan be the XII version, while the other clan gives the cuter tactics version.
The only reason the Midlander/Highlander divide exists is because Hyurs are... Hyur. Humans are inherently bland compared to other races (no tails, no weird ears, no difference in eyes, etc) so they have to have more variety in faces and physique to compensate for that.
Viera are a race with unique features (well as unique as you can get for being a human with rabbit ears) so they'd have more potential options compared to a regular Hyur, so there'd really be no point in having completely different clans.
i mean this patch certainly hinted at the viera... I mean they're mentioned by name in the quests for the 24 man raid and you know who has the whole moon rabbit ear things going for her so all this teasing is gonna hurt if it doesnt happen
Why it don't make sense to have Viera here in FFXIV.
This is against their law, referred to as the "Green Word," which forbids contact with the outside world. once a viera breaks this law, they are considered viera no more and are regarded as outcasts.
But then I am sure people will be thinking of Viera final fantasy tactics advanced where they roam around freely though probably outcast.
I would rather have another race than this I mean bunny race how would headgear look and next thing you know it people begging for ears to be removed.
I mean why not this.
ronso

or another small race like moogles.

I'd rather have ronsos too, something better than people with animal ears.
But the vieras on XIV won't be exactly as XII. Even on Tactics Advance universe they were not so reclusive so they don't have to make it the same in here.
i was like you until i notice something interesting with the 4.3

this boots are the viera feet :x
exept now we know that viera are part of this world, they are considered like beastman tribes (or barbarian) however, vangaa too, and they was part of the army of dalmasca, means it's not too far fetched to think the viera of FF14 have another policies than the viera of FF12.
the question is not, do we will see the Viera in FF14, it's a fact now, we will see the viera, the question is do they will be playable, it was asked for long and not by a minority or this thread will have been dead by now.

In FXII the Viera who lived in Rabanstre were one's whom left their homes in the Forest in order to experience the outside world. So Viera technically can still exist in other areas outside of Rabanstre. Their old Forest home is probably somewhere just beyond the desert lands of Rabanstre in FFXIV
Viera are overrated, give Gria from FFTA2.
Sadly this has been thrown out of the window with Hurdy and Montblanc being confirmed to look like Eorzean Moogles.
Though from some of the dialogue in the quest, there's a very slight chance we could get a minion at least.
They are definitely practising for Viera feet as someone else mentioned. :| I noticed it right off the bat. Even the calves in those boots are the same as Viera. And also, conspiracy theory #2: why do you think they permitted the bunny stuff for males this patch along with those boots, and yet none of the other male/female stuff? And what about you-know-who's moonbunny ears on her get-up? -Wiggles brows- Sure, it could have been popular demand... or it could have been intended. We know how sneaky SE likes to be. They're probably kufufu'ing as we speak. ;3
Technically we've had digitigrade feet since ARR with the Wolfliege Thighboots. The problem isn't shaping the feet, that's the easiest part. We've had high-heeled shoes forever. The problem is making the shoe fit the foot. They'd have to redesign every single piece of footwear in-game in order to account for the feet and without detracting from the visual style.
The devs are probably saying "here's animal feet and bunny ears go do it yourself".
I'm sure it has been brought up before in this massive thread, but Tactics Viera didn't always wear shoes designed for their feet.
Though perhaps it would look weird in 3D.
I honestly would like for them to just put the time into remodeling old stuff for a feral type of foot. If they did that, it would mean that perhaps we could easily get other races in the future with similar foot structure, and lots of people, even if not viera supporters, do want races that are build differently. They could use Viera feet as a building block.
I don't get the correlation people are having with Viera feet to the caster design contest winner. I mean, that's what the original artist created for their entry. It's not that SE was practicing a footwear for Viera, it's that they were trying to stay true to the artist's original wishes and/or intention. We can't really speak for the artist that he/she purposely designed his/her caster gear entry because he/she liked Viera or not, we'll never know. Let's not make generalized assumptions going down that route. I think you guys are making a bit of a stretch with this part at the very least.
I mean, the footgear makes it look feasible that they very well could. But, they certainly weren't using the design for practice. They were just holding up their end of the bargain that whoever wins these gear design contests, gets their original art put in or at least close as possible. Nothing more, nothing less really.
