uhh there are a lot of good ones

prime conditioning
firm conviction - defense up while casting, and its pretty noticeable
fast cast- shorter cast times
gladiators increased shield block rate, only good for shield users, but a must for those
marauder more enmity per action
archer less enmity per action
lancer fleet of foot

and the cross class up skills increase potency/acc and lower cast times


Id say just about all of them are very good, though they definately could use more traits per class.

I hope they dont make them not cross classable at all though..

Duel wield
Double attack
Auto refresh
Magic Att up
Att up
TP gain up
HP up
Def up etc.

are class defining skills. Increased block rate? really?

Traits in ff11 made the job different and fun. A lil less hate and more blockiing just did not cut it IMO. again im hoping the new traits will be useful and not suck.

Yes! Back before shield blocking rate was gimped in the last patch, this was an incredibly helpful trait.

Prime Conditioning and Intimidation are requirements if you want to be a good late-game tank.

Dual-wield and double attack would be game-breaking at this point - unless it gimped you so much you didn't want to use it anyway.

Yes but thats clearly because you are bias.

The traits we have are fine, we aren't goin to get dual weild as we have no Ninja, auto refresh is pointless as we already have it.

HP up, att up, eva up etc will all be bard spells I imagine.
Def up mag def up are called protect and shell.

Well as this is a thread for rein to work hard and get info out ill leave it as ill agree to disagree. FF11 traits are better hands down and i hope that SE sees that. I am sure they do thats why they are changing it. Anyway this is my last post about that.

This is an epic case of trying to save face and failing at it.

funny you say this because a lot of traits in FFXI were complete garbage, silence ressistance? really? even the attack up was like 10 attack, that is almost negligble.

there were some good ones, like counter double attack martial arts but some classes had completely crappy and useless ones.

I do agree with DNO though and it's not necessarily biasness, it's just auto-traits you grow into (and grows with you) is just overall a better system. XIV does have good traits, but the way it's done is pretty backwards since they tried to give absolute freedom and it couldn't be done.

They did say they wanted to introduce multiple attack weapons eventually, so adding said traits are a good start too.

It seems many japanese players are getting it now, so it musn't be a big secret anymore.

After some additional reading, only 5 of these quests are mandatory (see below), then you complete the 8 by adding in any 3 random faction leves of your choice.

1. Operation Scar and Defender from the Broken Blades. (cost 300)

2. Wanted: Toadsquatter Femomo from Azyma's Shield. (cost 300)

3. A Weighty Problem from the Horn and Hands. (cost 200)

4. Heat of the Moment from the Horn and Hands. (cost 200)

5. Golden Opportunity from the Horn and Hands. (cost 300)

Thread talks about how they want a action/ability to knock back the mobs just like how the mobs use it on us every time.

Rep response on thread talking about deletion of old/dated recipe

Just for now just know that old/dated recipe wont be deleted/removed from game at 1.20 patch then should be OK. People also saying after the rep post that some dated/old recipe already too hard to make since you can't obtain some materials but no response to that one yet.

That sounds pretty damn lazy to leave the dated recipes in the game. /sigh

The majority of people don't use dated unless they are SBing and obviously where accessories are concerned.

I think that response if pretty lame all in all.

Well if you remove it right now, we're going to end up with so few types of equipment so they need to make the new gear data as fast as possible. Also if they are going to make that coloring feature with 32 colors or w/e; it will require the item graphic data to be able to handle stuff like that so I think that's the part that's holding dev's back on adding new gear using old existing game graphics for those gears not in new recipe.

i think at this point it might be too fast if of they did get rid of it, keep in mind alchemy culinarian and gs havent even got a lot of their updated recipes. Even once they have all the recipes ported over to the new system, they probably still need to have a month or so just to let people know that the stuff is going out of style.

the tricky part, is wondering how long it will take, because there are some major wholes in gear for some classes, and making dated stuff is fairly difficult for some of the recipes, since the item sources are missing.

Can't say anything about the payment part but for the gear I personally don't mind them removing it, but there are still some gear that can be good at lower levels and devs haven't put in anything to really cover for that gear. Makes it where you have to use the lower level gear longer till you can use the next one that's not dated.

Personally, I wish they never did the over haul. But I'd rather have very few choices than have to scroll through our unsortable Market Wards trying to find a half decent piece that I can attach materia to.

Thats true I suppose, I just feel that gear and armour should be high up on their list of things to do, its a big part of why people play these games.

Because we do have a half implemented crafting system. There are a lot of gaps. My example is DoLs 20-30. If it weren't for dated items I wouldn't have been able to gear my MNR/BTN.

Ugh, really? I just want them to phase out the dated crap already. It's confusing as heck to have two generations of recipes coexisting.

I'm not sure why we lost so many options when it comes to the new equipment in the first place. I struggle to find a relevant item in the new system that corresponds with my class/lvl because they're so sparse. Just copy/paste the old designs or something. Some of my favorite dated gear (leather calot, anyone?) doesn't even exist in the new recipes.

Grr, just frustrating. Was hoping 1.20 would be the end of it.

This is not true at all, I have geared both my DoL's with new gear, sure its not leather stuff but there are cloth alternatives with pretty good stats on.

There aren't as many holes in gear as people seem to think you just have to look elsewhere, like in the case above not looking at dodoskin jerkin and collutes.

I suggest anyone to use the gear finder on FFXIV-DB, im sure you will see there are plenty of alternatives.

Reinheart makes a good point.

For low level crafting dated is almost the only choice...

Also bear in mind they are (supposedly) keeping tabs on what gear people are mostly making and what gear people are mostly using... if they discover that alot of people are using dated to grind they might rethink some of the changes to recipes... or hopefully they notice the complete lack of non-dated crafting gear for 1-16 and convert some of those dated recipes...

Dated recipes hurt nobody, wtf are you people smoking?

Maybe the itemization overhaul could have come later once they had 'more' recipes and items to implement. Hey, that can be applied to every goddamn change in this game every since 1.18. Maybe they should have waited until 2.0 to implement anything. But that would mean no patches? Another reason to BAAWWW.

Well then, my statement is a testament to how crapy the ward system is. In spite of all my research -- which was difficult enough because of a lack of an official database -- I didn't know some of those items existed because people weren't selling them on the wards.

Use weathered gear for 1-10 and these for 11-20.

Part the problem is that people are still using the dated recipes and gear so aren't looking for new alternatives.

Out of sheer curiosity, Reinheart, are they talking much about the special mount topic at all over on the jp side? I know it's a hot topic over here, so I was wondering what kind of reception it was getting over on that end.

I too, would like to know how jps feel about mounts, sorry to impose on you.

I'm actually glad they don't have knock back abilities on the menu just yet. They would be an extreme inconvenience with the current settings. Imagine having a full party and multiple people activate their knock back skill at around the same time. We all know what happens when enemies do that to us. The effect stacks and you get slammed all over the place. I don't think they should even consider something like that until they start to implement legitimate PvP.

JP side not much, they dug up a old thread from back in May and just saying Magitek Armor is cool and one about riding another player, and one about riding golem you summon yourself. Not much fighting going on.

Well say the mount is special but even if its special if the speed is really slow and something just to show off to players you played up till 2.0 I don't care what mount I get...

now the Gatherer stuff their talking about on the JP side is some what more important to me also lol but seems like for the NA side no one really cares much about that lol

Personally I'm very much looking forward to the DoL info. I enjoy all three of those classes. The only reason they're not higher is because I've been leveling them slowly to maximize the resources I obtain for DoH leveling.

I'm hoping they discuss at least Grade 6 nodes and the treasure maps but anything will be appreciated.

for the JP side G6 nodes and treasure maps wont be enough, they want devs to actually change the whole system for Fishing YoshiP said something that they are working on it, but haven't said anything about Miner or Botanist.

JP side has people saying that they bought the game since the package says you can enjoy the game by playing these other class and just because YoshiP came in it all became fighting/battle related. Same with me I started the game this time for 14 as Miner to see how the game plays out as non battle class in a MMORPG but already knew it was going to end up as sub-class so didn't really mind it... but I guess for some they really really don't like/want to play battle class lol

Hopefully YoshiP posts something later today since its still 4:52AM Wednesday in Japan so still got till tomorrow morning, since he said before dev's 1 day don't end till they leave the office w
