Why not just make him go afk and carry him through the battle so he technically wasn't there for the first time?
I mean this sounds SUPER ridiculous even to me but if It's able to get him the feel by re-doing the dungeons once DRK is unlocked himself - it might be worth it.

The problem here is, they can't never get that "First time feel!" Ever again as that other job. I don't really like the CS argument...it just reminds me of Prae runs...it's not the same y'know?
Another problem that I am starting to notice is....It's the fact that in order to even get anything done...you are forced to finish 2.0...
Okay yeah, I'm starting to see how crappy that is, because personally I hate the games boring story...so I mean if I did all the other fun stuff like coil and Wod and bla bla, and I am ready to play HW...I can't...because
I HAVE to finish the story to be Au'ra and other job's....

BUT here's the thing, the race and jobs are linked to the lore so it does kiiinda make sense that it's locked like this as we are heading to Ishgard and everything starts there, but I mean...some of us don't give 2 craps about the lore.
So right now I'm kinda in-between it as far as "Lore" goes. Even though I did it, trust me, it wasn't all that fun. They could of done this a different way but I dunno how but
as for "Hey, can't do this because you HAVE to complete this storyline" kinda does suck...I'm glad I did it though lol, not trying to down anyone but if I were a newbie, did all the stuff I wanted
to this would be a real downer on my end.

TLDR: This entire thing could of been done differently if it were for the "Force the lore!" type of deal...I don't think I like it, after reading back some posts now.
Just how it is I guess...Just so glad I did all I needed to do, at least the story has gotten more fun so it was kinda worth it.

Well... actually, yeah, we pretty much do. Echo lets us relive the past, and possibly even insert ourselves into the past; it's not entirely clear what its limits are, or what it actually does.

Not sure what time travel has to do with anything I wrote, though...?

It's not that difficult to achieve. FFXI had story reset and allegiance switch (way before time travel existed with Wings of the Goddess), and all they had to do to justify was this:

That's good news lol! I would of thought they were since Yuigiri was hiding
herself, maybe because Au'ra wasn't known yet in our country...thing.

This exactly. I was looking at the ability to fly as the "reward" for reaching Ishgard and Heavensward content. I was really thrown off to realize that jobs would be put on that same leve.

(In truth we don't know yet, nothing was officially stated. They could pull a Fable and make a quest to give the Main Character the choice to drink a Fantasia to become an Au Ra or not, for whatever reason, during the MSQ. However, common sense says that no, Au Ra race will not be gated.)

However, common sense said the same about jobs, least to me.

Lore based, it makes sense.

Perhaps they will add something in the future that will let people revist parts of the game again.
Till then I guess his friend can't play. It sucks, but if it really is going to force you to put the game down - then yeah.
I know when MoP came out a lot of people put down WoW and are picking it up again after that new expansion.
Maybe that's what you have to do.
It sucks to not play with friends, but IMO when they got rid of exp chains - skill chain groups - and added cross server - this became essentially a very little community driven game. That's just my look on it.

As far as we know, just the Jobs and storyline are locked by quest progression (we're paying for the continuation of the story into Ishgard, so that makes sense). I suspect the expansion will hit, and Yugiri's new explanation for why she hid her face from even Au Ra PCs will have something to do with her really being a runaway princess, or something.
