It's the usual "I HAEV NU PRUBLEMS SO NOBODY DOES HURR DURR!!1!" that keeps going since page 1.
Is it really so hard to understand it?

Your arguments are flawed as well. The first is the ever-so-often used argument from ignorance. And the phrase 'I'm sure there's barely anyone that has those problems, if at all' is clearly FALSE. Have you been reading the posts in this thread?
Second, just because the problem doesn't affect EVERYONE or EVERYONE ALL THE TIME doesn't imply (i) it doesn't affect SOME people SOME of the (crucial) times. Moreover, it can still be SE's fault when they created problems that happen to SOME people SOME of the time. Since when for a fault to be blameworthy it necessarily needs to fulfil your criteria of 'everyone' and 'all the time' clause? For instance, I am a forgetful cashier at a grocery checkout - I give back the wrong change to *some* of my customer *some* of the time - does that mean I am not at fault?
Honestly a bit of movement prediction server side would fix most of this. If you're running to the right you should stay that way until the server gets the packet that says you stopped.
Can someone with the lag/delay issue tell me how you do against the extreme primals (titan in particular) ? I have a slight delay, and I find Titan Hard manageable, however when i see videos of titan extreme it just looks impossible to dodge all his abilities with the delay.
Memorization helps, but sometimes the instance servers are just inherently lagging. Pro groups that I *know* can dodge will get hit by stupid things they would never get hit by, like bombs or landslide. Note that I'm pretty sure these laggy instances don't affect everyone, or at least you won't notice the effect if you have a pretty good connection naturally. I'll enter Titan extreme with people and four people I know can dodge still die, even though I feel my connection is fine. Then we reenter and everyone does everything flawlessly. It absolutely baffles me how unbalanced the instance servers can be. And then there are times of the day where no one has lag issues, ever, and we are farming these fights nonstop for hours. I think it has to do with congestion... and the time of the day/week. Going on primetime on a Monday is sure to spell trouble.
You cannot avoid AE with any reliability, at least if you play in Europe. You can be the best player (like me!), you can pay attention, dodge AE and still get slaughtered even though you are yards outside the AE area. They need to do a position update whenever you cross an AE border, not wait for a cast or a turn.
Destroyed the fun of the game, the rest of which I really liked.
Shame, could have been a great game otherwise
Sorry to say bro but your problems don't lie with the game.
I live in Australia. When I'm in Melbourne my ping is ~240. It's VERY playable. Things are responsive and dodging is visually correct. When I'm at work on my mobile phone internet, my ping is ~380. It's still easily playable. I have no troubles on any of the fights in the game. Ping, or the game, aren't your issues. It's more likely the problem lies with your house's internet cables, your modem or your ISP.
Don't blame the game for something that isn't its fault.
Memorization, huh? So much fun!
I'm also in Melbourne, what ISP are you with? I get around 270ms with Internode, and lately I've been able to dodge things fine but whenever I enter Titan EX I get huge lag spikes making it impossible. Then I just abused by everyone - getting really sick of that..
Your perception of latency is awry. Having ~380 ping would be EXTREMELY noticeable in any mmorpg when trying to complete reactionary content, and ESPECIALLY it is in this one. Saying that having ~250-380 still allows you to dodge things without problems is very far from truth (250 requires you to pay a really close attention to all the channels, which probably is not a bad thing making you grow a player), so unless you somehow shape space allowing you to make up for the delay I'm taking your statements with a huge pile of salt. In that case, my hat's off to you, great master of time and space. When I still played this game, there were a lot of Australian players trying to groupfind content - it's always been a disaster when they tried to avoid anything.
Could somebody provide a source to this 'confirmation' or is is just conjecture ? I'd love to come back to ARR but while this issue is still outstanding it's not an option. I'm not with any of the aforementioned ISP's so I'm skeptical, but I'd loved to be proved wrong and have a good reason to come back!
How could it be an ISP problem when for the vast majority of folks *no* other MMORPG's exhibit this anomalous behavior. I can consistently dodge AoE's in *every* MMO I play with the exception of this one. That is why I am no longer a subscriber. This issue is netcode and framework based. End of story.
@Blimbeard: This issue has not been fixed but has been acknowledged (in a roundabout way) by SE. IIRC some of the newly released instances force positional updates more frequently than the older ones in order to attempt to remedy this issue. When asked why it was not possible to do this for every instance/zone SE stated the servers as they currently are setup would be unable to handle the increased communication between clients and server. Understanbly, going from a forced positional update every 300 to 100 MS essentially triples the amount if incoming packets to the server, but the fact of the matter is the game should not have launched with such an inadequate system in place.
So I've been gone for a while, did they ever fix this?
No. I still got it. Even I moved out for 0.5 second before it happened, I still get the damage spike.
Something must be done about this.
More then half of you people who complain about lag...its not your isp its your computers hardware and settings as well as your game settings. Yes your game runs well everywhere out titan...if the mob for twintania shot out equal number plumes to liquid hells It would be the same lag issue. For the most part your vid card camt draw the stuff fast and well enough. Drop your graphics and get yourself a tcpic latency fix for mmo's amd you will probably see a night and day lag issue.
Based on all I know about software, net, games etc. (and contrary to many the self-appointed "gurus" here) I am 100% sure the lag issues are generated by SE, by coupling a suboptimal infrastructure with fights based very heavily on fast reaction times (or memorisation and anticipation, which is the same thing) and a 2.5 global cooldown that makes combat feel terribly slow and unresponsive at the same time that it requires lightning reaction times from the player. I'll even go out on a limb and say that probably nobody would have noticed the latency problems were it not for Titan and a couple other fights. At least, nobody would have unsubscribed for that reason...
Said that, if you really like the game, instead of quitting you could do like me: not do that "content".
Is this the only game where everybody wants to be a raider? A minority raids in WoW. An even smaller minority raids in RIFT, etc.
When I want some challenge, I do Sirius or Haukke HM (yes, I have lag problems on Halicarnassus, but can beat the fight with a decent group). The rest of the time I have fun and look around. Titan can return to the Hell it came from. :P
P.S.
I wonder how many subscriptions the game lost on Titan. Darn unbelievable what listening to elitists entails...
The game feels like its designed to have delay built into it.
Ie. "Instant" cast abilities.
That's not the problem, please read the thread again.
It has been explained in detail it has nothing to do with the client/hardware on the user's end.
It's an issue with the game being built backwards, with the server as the position checker. There is also internal delays in place and to make things worse, there is a routing problem with Square Enix server ISP.
Practise harder.
Yup all my friends cancelled our subs too. Endgame should be challenging and FUN. Nothing fun with current content that I got to endeavor into. Than again we never delved into PuG's or Premades. Can't be done with 4 people it don't need doing. Work, Family, Life. Don't have time to wait on failing attempts at psycho content that is so boring or smash the keyboard aggravating. Simon says on steroids isn't fun. They catered to elitists and elitists can have 'their' game. When we started this game the early content and the entire game play and mechanics was interesting, fresh to say the least. Dungeons UP TILL endgame were challenging and fun. Than came Pharos Sirius and Titan HM. Titan HM nearly broke the camels back but victory was truly sweet and I just hoped to never see anything like that again. Than we tried Pharos Sirius. And we tried Pharos Sirius. Not sure who designed that final boss but the full insta cast healer they were playing must of been fun... Anyways after thinking of what lay ahead and what fun content was left it was an easy group decision to let this game RIP with the younger crowd who 'may' enjoy such play style. Beautiful game and definitely worth the price to get the honor to play thru as a group from 1-50. After that 4 man content takes a terrible turn.
Strange, I find Sirius very fun, and well-tuned, considering that it's meant to be the hardest Light Party dungeon at the moment. And lag /reflexes play virtually no part.
But maybe it's me who love Sirius because it reminds me of Sirius Black, my favourite Harry Potter character, together with Professor Lupin... :)
It has been awhile so just checking in too see if anything has changed.
I gather nothing has changed and you still need to dodge before the dang red circles show up or be kiting right and left to dodge? Still have that BS .3sec positional update delay ?
Sirius is so easy, can't understand why people are ragin so hard toward it. I mean, Siren is the only boss in the game where you don't even need to move for anything, lol, except killin crawling adds.
Do they have no intention of changing the older content then, especially Titan seeing as it is a roadblock for many people.
I've only just come back after quitting partly for this reason in Nov, It's good to hear that newer content will have the .1 second delay though.
I've tried numerous things. Leatrix latency fix + WTFast, turning my settings to low on certain fights, It's just amazing how horrible the latency is. I mean..the way I see it, I shouldn't be hit if I'm out of the AOE period. There are times where I'll be out of an AOE and already completing casting a spell on my SMN and I'll still get tagged.
Pharos Sirus isnt hard its just long & doesn't offer anything more then a dungeon we could speedrun and get same reward.
Sure its hard to do any HM dungeon when players arent even geared to do it. I been expected to carry people through Duty Finder when there not even wearing right stats for there job.
If Pharos offering Darklight can expect players to start doing them this patch. If easier dungeon to spam everyone will do it for new tomes.
I had d/cd bunch back in the day and couldnt understand why it was working then why it wasnt. found out that outside a tree branch was hitting the wire whenever wind blew the tree. Had to lay new wires outside.
Theres tons of issues your internet may have.
How many people use your internet while your playing?
Old House=Old Wires
Your Location & Server Location
How many spots does it take toget to the Server
Internet Speed
Internet Provider
Wireless/Wired?
What model your Modem is (Also do you have any other devices hooked up to it)
Weather
If there fixing something down the road
Bugs/Viruses with your PC or Modem
so yeah some of those maybe the problem.
Can we please lock this thread from 2013?
Or just perma-ban the troll necroing threads all day
Oh wow, this thread brings back memories. This was during a time when the lag was actually dreadful and you'd still be hit by AoE's even though you've been out of them for a good few seconds.
Anyway, usual culprit brining back old/controversial threads back to life. Report and move on.
Yeah I died to titan so much it's impossible
