Do you guys think it would be worth it to meld some PIE into slots of gear with already capped SS?
310 base Pie to get a 5. F4 sounds delicious. But will the one F4 which i may not be able to cast all the time be worth the loss of Crit?

I don't recommend going as high as 310, but to hit 284 with party buff is great. Basically using two melds.
See section V.E.4

Adding pie is totally up to you but you would need to meld so much of it to actually see a difference, no?
Myself i would rather not loose Crit over some pie, though i do love Pie, the edible one ;)
Ok so maybe this has been talked about in this thread but its way too big to sift through. Spell speed I'm stacking till it hits the roof, but when it comes to crit\det i'm feeling crit has hit a sort of ceiling where its not worth as much as det would be. My det is under 500 while crit is around 900. For my Relic I'm at the point where i have full SS and 60 crit. I'm really considering putting the other 60 into Det but i'd like a little feedback before I commit to it. What do all y ou think? split the 2nd half of the relic into Crit\Det or go balls deep into Crit?
Crit is much different than it used to be. It's not just Critcal Hit Rate anymore. It's rate + damage. So even while the actual percentage will always be based on rng, the damage dealt by critical a hits plays a big factor in weights. There is no ceiling for that. Go 120 SS and 120 Crit.
Also just to mention if you do want to experiment adding determination on your Relic, you could change that to crit later on.
But full spell speed + crit would be the best stats for Relic
oh really I didn't know that you could change it after putting the points in. I raid with a group that runs with a mch instead of a bard. So everyone gets buffs except me. I keep up with their dps but I'm never first anymore like I used to be. Pretty much why I've been trying to do things differently and get better results. MCH is stupid with the drg buff. I thought we were supposed to be the big bursters, but they out burst me. Sometimes by a lot lol
Just to test out a bit of a boost in det I replaced 5 crit V materia with det V and put on some det gear then went into A7S. Noticed a significant boost in damage. Actually managed to out dps both melee and came close to the mch before having to go in the jail and even then Caught up during bowling ball phase. Gonna put 60 into det on my relic since the current horde staff has some on it. If it's horrible I will change it to crit after the fact
60 DET will boost your damage by less than 1%. If you saw a significant boost to dps, it wasn't from your materia swap.
Oops, I was looking at where it said Fire was cast 152 times and hit 156 times and mixed that up, what's up with that? I still find it very strange that nobody else has missed at 592 accuracy, does that person use food to reach 594 accuracy?
This was a while back when I had 592 accuracy, but I had no misses at 3292 casts.
I am slightly over (known) cap at about 596, and only miss I recorded was an auto attack I believe.
Lavitz raises a good point tho, do they use acc food which may have dropped off mid fight?
Lavitz, you never missed with 592 ? What's your acc now ?
The miss was a Blizzard III on Brawler at the 3 minute mark of the last pull in the set.
First pull was at 2:16pm, last pull was at 3:32pm. Depending on their food timings, it would seem reasonable that his food fell off around that time (last pull of the night, who wants to use a third food?). However, I can't find any proof as his max hp never changed from 18k.
Can we see precise max-hp or food buff uptime anywhere? I'm not finding either.
Hmm, my BiS (preA8S, but the weapon and coat don't change anything) nets me 599 accuracy ... what could I improve here?

I still wonder if I should get more piety ...
i recommand you that one : http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/UN7R
uh i feel quite a resistance to use a 220 necklace again ... but if it's more damage in the end i think i will switch to that, thank you very much :)
So tonight I missed in A8S. Was very noticeable as it was the very first cast of the encounter.
I run exactly 591 acc, so am wondering if anyone can think of a reason why this might be?
I actually have 574 acc, so with food (+3%), this give me 591 acc.
Does anyone know if the game considers decimals? ie, with food, this actually gives me 591.22 acc
The only things I can possibly think of, is either the game considers decimals, and the acc cap is actually like 591.3, or am I subject to something like frontal acc here (as stated this was the very first cast of the fight, when the boss is facing the group, AFAIK caster acc is static regardless of which way boss is facing)
This is the only miss I've recorded.
Just wondering if anyone else has any other ideas what it could be... otherwise I guess the cap is higher than 591?
I instantly remembered this post, and checked that my food hadn't fallen off... and it hadn't, so it isn't that
when is the best moment to xpot when you skip boost in a5s ? same question for second raging
You probably won't get a second pot if you're using it after the boss shrinks, for the second Raging Strikes you either use it at the end when it's off c/d if the boss is gonna die before shrinking, or save it if you know it will shrink with enough HP
591 has reported misses, try 592.
Do u do a delayed opener on a5S ? like a first fire rotation without any buffs and then burn all on second rotation (he should get small one 3nd GCD), i think it needs feywind or arrow tho to not lose enochian while using all mana of second rotation
I just do one flare since the adds die too fast in my group and this way I don't have to transpose and can use another fire IV on the boss and go on with blizzard 3.
Hello all,
I've been reading quite a bit about the Black Mage recently and one thing that I noticed is that Blizzard 2 is not on any of the rotations. Is it because it's a weak and worthless spell? I just want to know because it's sitting on my hotbar and it never gets used.
Thanks,
Chris Brown
It's not that it's worthless, but it is weak, and requires being in melee range. It's a dps loss in the middle of pretty much every rotation. Times where it is useful:
- PvP for the AoE bind and fast cast time
- When a dungeon trash pack is about to die and you probably wouldn't be able to get off Fire 3 > Fire 2 (Freeze is also useful there)
- AoE rotation before you get Flare
You get Blizzard II at level 12 if I recall. It's 50 potency per target. On AF1 at the same level, Fire 1 is 252 Potency meaning it is better than Blizzard on less than 5 targets.
On a same note, F4 is 491,4 potency so you need 10 targets for B2 to worth. Then again, you'll be doing F2 + Flare because F4 or B2 on a pull with 10 targets or more.
Even if you were to wait MP while you don't have flare, it would probably worth more to cast Freeze once then go back to your astral fire and spam fire 2.
To answer you, Blizzard II is completely useless. This is a Summoner AoE filler spell, not a Black Mage spell. It might have uses in PvP to bind but that's about it. It might be useless to spam B2 for easy gold on Yo-Kais fate. If you like to work on events and not enjoy them lol.
In raid content, it is completely useless. I don't even have it on my bars.
At 9 mobs, a Freeze and an extra Fire II evens out in the dps category, or at 6 mobs if you have enough Piety to get two extra Fire II's in (which is around 350 Piety). Of course, both scenarios are impractical for several reasons.
when you have leylines and do transpose, its better to cast freeze rather than just waiting 2sec to get enough mana before using F3
Another thing to note about Blizzard II is, it's great for knock back mechanics. Think cerulean tanks in Keeper of the Lake on the first boss, or the bombs on the final boss in Brayflox HM. But other than that and PvP, it's worthless.
I mean, between level 35 and 49, you don't have Flare. I'd never use Freeze outside of that lol. I guess I didn't express correctly. I wouldn't even AoE in raid. In A2S I helped a group that I wasn't even using AoE and it was easier to clear lol
Also, Freeze had a use in Coil T7 Savage compared to Blizzard II in PvE content.
Freeze is also smarter to use when your pack of mob has about 10% health left because this one Dragoon will kill your target and you'll have waste your time.
That's a pretty good question. Again... if you're in a fight where you always AoE, I'd play Summoner lol.
I would say if you had to wait 2 seconds for a second tick considering with Leylines, I'm at roughly 2.23 cast, that would probably be smart but you might get more mana.
How exactly do you propose casting Freeze after Transpose after Flare? 0 MP is 0MP
Or do you mean going wait for MP tick, Freeze, F3?
That also robs you of the necessary MP to cast Flare unless you get a THIRD MP tick during your F3 which means you delayed your rotation by more than a full 3 seconds (in effect 6 seconds).
How do you guys get back into your rotation with only sharpcast and enochian available?
I have always done F3 > SC > F1 > eno > F4 > F4 > F3(procced) > F4 > F4 etc.
Is there a way to roll into this with slightly higher potency?
