RMT housing was never really a thing. I don't understand why everyone is so rabidly against it in the first place, mind you. Back during Stormblood, I bought a Shiro beachfront small on Mateus for 5mil. Sure I had to spend an extra almost 4mil for placard cost too. But do you know how much buying a small costs nowadays? 20-40mil. If housing resale has any relationship with RMT (it doesn't), you didn't solve any problem: you made it worse by several magnitudes.
Are you sure it got purchased or did someone move into it? If someone moved into it then it wouldn't have mattered at all whether you were at the keyboard or not. You can usually tell the difference because when someone moves their old plot the house is placed pretty much immediately and their mini-aetheryte is automatically placed right in front of the door to the house. Someone buying it will take a few moments at least to install a house since there are some house selection options they have to go through, a mini-aetheryte is not automatically installed, and when an aetheryte is installed it won't be centred perfectly right in front of the door because people just don't do that.
Why are active players getting punished when the pandemic isn't their fault, either?
It's also very very bad PR to leave a limited resource in the hands of those who have quit playing while your active paying customers are left without. It says that the active paying customer means nothing to the developer despite that active paying customer being the reason the developer still has a job while others have lost their jobs due to a lack of paying customers at the businesses they worked for.
Sorry, but the demolition timer needs to be reenabled if SE isn't going to create a housing supply that meets demand. People have had 7 months to straighten out their real life situations to the best of their ability. Either they're stable and able to resume playing, or they won't be returning for a long time to come and a virtual house in an online game is useless to them.
There absolutely is. Not only is there but it's even a strategy that has a better return if you're on a high competition server. The more people crowd around a single plot the better a strategy this becomes.
This strategy comes with the caveat that it will statistically take about 10% more camping time, ie a 10h single sitting camp = 1h camping/day for 11 days. But you can further reduce that 10% with a variety of other strategies. Some of which aren't even available to people who camp for entire timer durations. In fact, you can technically reduce your time spent camping in HALF compared to someone who sits out the full duration of a timer.
Not only that but you greatly reduce the risk of wasting your time because of a relocation as well (a 20 fold reduction!), which opens you to farm some of the riskier plots like shirogane, and lavender beds as well (both plots you shouldn't touch with a pole if you sit through full timers, especially on a crowded server.. Which again, people don't seem to understand).
I know this is a frustrating, terrible experience for a lot of people.. but there's no reason to attack each other so much :P It's not very likely that the devs implemented hidden timers to combat RMT ONLY because of one suggestion by an English-speaking player.
Yes, people have been waiting YEARS and that's terrible, but if Ishgard housing arrives next xpac, that'll be 24 (or more!) new wards instead of the 12 we got this patch. I know that's not enough, but I think this "we're optimizing and beefing up the servers" thing is also a sign of hope. FFXIV seems to be more successful than ever right now, so I think Yoshi-P can convince SE to invest in the technology needed to at least double the number of wards, and add Ishgard on top of that.
I think the neighborhood system is really cool and unique, the problem is just the scarcity (and, relatedly, the flippers, RMTers, and multiple-plot-owners).
If they manage to at least double the # of plots - yes still not everyone will get a Large - but at least everyone who actually cares about housing and wants to enjoy it can find something really cool. Plus it would be amazing for the player economy. They're not going to scrap everything they've done so far and do a whole new instance-only system, so this is a solution that can do some good and Yoshi-P seems to be working towards this!
No one is entitled to a medium or large, not even a FC. People need learn this. They are limited for a reason.
My suggestion is bring back OG pricing and demand will go down, it could in theory introduce RMT but who is so stupid to spend money on virtual money for a house? I'd be shocked to know.
It's funny how some people say their FC has spent one weekend to gather gil in order to buy L and then they were too slow. Well, unlucky, but that's how it works. Less fortunate/slower need to work harder. If you managed to get 50m in one weekend, spend more time and just buy that L you REALLY want from someone even if it's overpriced and sucks. Some people get gil solo to re-buy those L and here we have FCs not being able to make enough gil for a common cause.
