You mean 599?

For someone leveling BLM at the moment and who will be stuck with the 2.x rotation for some time, is SC > T3 > F3 > F1 until empty > B3 the way to go or have things changed since I was last up to date on this job?
If you're on the old rotation
You should never cast until empty
But always leave some mp to cast B3 then Thunder 1
And go back F3
2nd answer
T1 is faster and cost less
T3 for proc
The only difference is how long T1 stay on the target (and the final potency but With luck you always have a proc)
You shouldn't be wasting swiftcast on Thunder 3. You want to be using T1 for the shorter cast, and only using T3 on procs. You want to use (in your 2.x rotation as you were saying) swiftcast for movement, or directly after a proc on a fire. In your raging strikes rotation, you use it with Flare followed by a convert.
I'm actually curious about this ^
I've been fiddling around with the Sharpcast opener and have been doing:
[Sharp>Ley]>F1>[Eno]>F3>[RS]>F4>F4>F1>F4>[swift]>F4>[Conv]>F4>F4>B3>T1>B4
Now - correct me if I'm wrong - but this should be overall higher potency than a Flare opener rotation, no? You'd still have the same hard-Swift with no proc, and with a proc you'd get the exact same nice smooth Swift>Convert transition after that third F4 cast. With the extension of AF3 in the recent patch, you can F1>F4x4>B3 under Ley Lines pretty safely, so... I dunno. Not sure what the benefit of Flare would be in this opener anymore!
Just curious if I'm missing something.
Or you can just do F4x3 > F1 > swift F4 > convert > F4x2 as well. But yeah, both are better picks then the Flare opener, with the one you posted being the highest overall potency if you get the proc and can do F3P > Swift F4 > Convert.
I'm using the Thunderbait opener which has its positives but also has its negatives (RNG), but I tend to use my F1 earlier in the rotation so that I can get the maximum amount of F4's and F3 procs that are fully buffed. I use swiftcast on a F4 after using a F3 proc when I know I don't need to use it in the next 60 seconds for movement or for AOE.
Not sure if its optimal or not, but i've found it works, its high time that I actually do some theorycrafting on openers this patch anyway ;)
No, I mean 699, front accuracy for melee. The difference between Front -> Rear should be a hard 108, according "my" recent blog post https://dervyxiv.wordpress.com/2016/...-works-part-1/, but if it's 699 -> 592, that's a 107 difference. So I'll need to rework it.
Okay so....what is the least dps loss AOE rotation? I use F3 > F2x3 > Flare > conv > swift > Flare > Transpose ....then Idk. I try two different things, if there is 5+ enemies I use Blizz 2 twice then fire 3, if there isn't I use Blizz 1 twice then fire 3.
All the things I look up say to use Tranpose > F3 > F2 > Flare but i dont even have enough mp for F2 then Flare after my original Flare > Tranpose, so do I just hardcast Flare again, transpose F3 repeat?
F2 = 100 potency, 2.69 cast / Flare = 260/10%-50% 130, 3.58 cast
F3 > F2x3 > Flare > Transpose (wait for tick) > Blizz 1x2(4.48) or Blizz 2x2(3.58) > F3(1.58) > F2x2 (4.38)> Flare(3.58) > Transpose etc
F3 > F2x3 > Flare > Transpose (wait for tick) > F3 (3.13)> Flare (3.58)> Transpose > F3(3.13) > Flare(3.58) >Transpose etc is the better aoe?
You should be getting another MP tick during your F3 cast to allow the F2 > F2 > Flare. If your Spell Speed is high enough, you'll need to wait a brief moment before casting F3 in order to get the second MP tick.
Well another thing that wrecks havic with multiple adds is thundercloud, so if you sharpcast thunder and have the rng god on your side multiple thunderclouds on different adds is a thing of beauty :)
But yes for the most part aoe situations is back to similar 2.X aoe, minus not being able to do 3X or quad flares like we used to.
I also sit at around your ss RL
Soooo question of the day Anima Weapon, what stats are you all going to go with? And will it be better then the lore or Savage weapon now?
I only get home later today so have no idea what stats can be added and such
Cool thanks for the info. I was going to go foremost with ss regardless but was unsure max points
Guys I have some questions ,I know SS is our main second attribute but how many do we need it to be on a safe casting position ? People said its 1100 is that correct? And please look at my build and see if got big problems please . Thank you
This is my BiS build : http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/UDSD
Just in case any Black Mages were wondering, The chest piece that drops in The Weeping City of Mhach is a great upgrade until you can get the chest from A8 and would be BiS if you don't do Savage. I've only seen it drop on Ozma so far, and I ran it 7 times this week.
Apparently it drops the last two bosses. Not looking forward to this weekend grind haha
Trying to get the body piece myself. People aren't making that easy.
When I saw the stats on that body, my heart skipped a beat. Thought I was "going green" for the forseeable future.
Yep it pretty much beat my pentmelded crafted chest i had, i was lucky enough that the chest dropped and i got it :)
Hooray for my luck finally changing.
Now my ss and crit is higher, soo sad loosing all that materia though :(
edit: as a reference here is the chest piece Blm chest
Quick question. Is Det more or less worthless?
Do you think putting some piety in the Anima weapon might be a good idea? Because that way you can allocate exactly how much points you need instead of wasting some by melding materia on gear.
I see two sides of it. On the one hand, yes it makes perfect sense to put the exact piety you need on your weapon instead of potentially going over on your gear. But also, the Piety you need will not change and your weapon will. For example, if you put enough pie to equal 284, then whenever you upgrade your relic on the next step, every stat will scale up. So then there's the question of how difficult or time consuming it will be to reallocate points. Also, I haven't messed with the relic to much on this step, but isn't there a randomization to the points you put on there?
The 5 stats have a cap and each sand grants 3 points each but you can allocate every point on a 1:1 ratio.
So if you had 25 points you could put 5 in each one if you wanted to.
Not really. You get a "random" amount of Treated Sand (3 to 5) from each Crystal Sand + Umbrite, then you can use the Treated Sand to allocate every point individually.
Achieving 284 with materia would use 3 slots for me (Highlander Hyur) since I need 26 more piety. 3 slots would mean an additional 36 Crit VS 26 points in the weapon. I think I'll take the risk, considering how changing Novus stat was fairly easy...
Thanks for your reply!
Been away for a while, but last I played 264 piety was all I heard of for the opener. From what I can tell, this 284 breakpoint is for not having a delay after Blizzard 3 to cast Thunder. Is hitting 284 piety a net increase in DPS over the 264 piety build? Thanks.
In regards to the piety thing. People often seem to forget that blizzard 1 is a thing. Very often you will still have 10+ seconds left on a thunder dot when you will "need" this piety for a thunder1 without waiting. I don't recommend using piety melds at all. The actual situations where it will give you a net gain in DPS are far too inconsistent and niche that I personally don't feel it's worth the drop in other stats. 264 (dunesfolk) is all you need.
AoE question. The OP says this:
Does this mean F3 > F2x2 > Flare > Convert > Flare > Ether > B3 > B2 > F3 > F2 spam, or something else? I recall hearing that triple flares were no longer a thing back in 2.4-2.5, but I dunno what the state of things is now.Quote:
On 4 targets or more, F3 > F2x2 > Flare is the best you can do.
I would much rather have ss and crit on the anima weapon, for the little difference extra piety has not sure it would be worth it
I'm tempted to put some accuracy on to allow me to run more spellspeed pieces like the WC gloves, and to change some accuracy melds to crit. Plus, you can always change it later if we get more accuracy pieces next patch.
Never ever never ever put acc on your wep. You don't know what the next tier of gear is going to boast. And if it's like the Novus, these secondaries should remain thru the rest of the expac.
You also choose to lose some acc and complete it with food
Since food come easier with the 3-yield it should be way more easier
I am seeing a lot of builds with drops from savage....i don't do savage so what would be a good idea of a build using crafted pieces and drops from Weeping city? I don't need to be the MOST UBER BLM but I would like to not look ridiculious!
Thank you!
