FF14, much like PSO2, is too big of a fanbase to throw away or hope migrates to a new MMO. This is why many people saw what Sega are doing with PSO2:NG as an option for FF14 seeing as NG is basically "PSO3" in all but name. If they've BEEN struggling this much with the limitations they have then taking a NG approach to the future makes sense if they want to keep this game going for 10 more years. Even the devs have in recent years been very open about how the limitations of the game as is has been effecting them which is pretty damn strange for a dev to do.

And part of why PSO2 is getting NG is because the devs know their game looked old/ outdated and wanted to make it meet current standards for it's Western release. That's what I mean by "Western push".

At the end of the day we shall see. The Main take away though is that YP wants to drive this bus for another decade and I don't think they will allow fans of these genders to be left wanting for 10 more years.

Not 100% how the genders work into overhauling the game... Because it was explained that they just literally didnt have enough time and resources to make both genders, they did what they did to fulfill 2 requests under the gauge that this might be the last time they make new races because of the massive undertaking of both developing the races in general, and fitting the equipment to them.

Not gonna happen, should not happen. Ever hear of unique class identity? It’s like that, but with races.

Pretty sure Yoshida said in previous interviews as previous posts on this thread he did another Race to take on the male sex. Previous games FF Tactics, FF12, not one Male Viera has ever been shown in the franchise, no idea what they even look like.

See, I always thought this game would last for awhile, rather than "wrap up" mode. Making a new MMO is very expensive, and this one is already very profitable, fairly popular and competitors like WoW are still going. I just use "sooner than later" as a phrase. I'd say ... at least sometime in the next 5 years if they're looking at pushing this game into the 20year mark. "Sometime in the next 5years" is when I thought a new FFMMO would happen anyway so if they're just gonna pull a PSO2:NG like move then I mentally just apply it to that.

And I will say I've had a few chuckles these recent pages.
I've played Femroe for most of my years of playing this game starting back in ARR. I think they're cool, but I KNOW they're not everyone's cup of tea and I KNOW that the devs tried to make them as attractive as they could with in the constraints of what a Roe male stands for.
Roebros defining feature in this line up of races is their borderline grotesque exaggeration of masculine muscle and girth resulting in their hulk like build and proportions. The devs gave the females human like bodies unlike the gorilla like refrigerator build of the males but seem to have felt they had to give them a masculine build as that's legit the key trait of the males in their mind ... and without the key face traits of the males they would just look human so this all adds up to a masculine built female (with the biggest boobs and longest hairstyles to offset that) that very few want to play cause most people don't play females to look like men.

They didn't succeed at it, but they did definitely try to make Femroe as attractive as they could within the confines of Roebro's clearly unattractive characteristics/defining features. Hrothgar's defining characteristic is being attractive furries with attractive bods, so I wasn't shocked at all to see the art with the females looking to have Highlander/Viera builds and pretty cat faces.

I'm hoping the "pretty cat faces" is them going a more Elder Scrolls Online type look with the female faces. It's possible to make an attractive lioness without making her look humanish. For example...look at Khamira from ESO.

They had their chance to assure players attention/hope into 6.0 that there would be a engine update but they chose to say the same old same old this FEB announcement. And the longer they hold off on it, the tougher it is to push through. Either the CEO just doesn't care according to his forced presentation, or Yoshi-P and his development team on FFXVI are handling the updated luminous engine (rumored) to test out and create assets/models that could be taken back into FFXIV for implementation in their "diet" luminous/crystal tool hybrid engine. Possibly even replace it via "copy/paste" without the "spaghetti code" of 1.0. One of the NPCs in the trailer was almost a straight copied hyur model of the Stormblood resistance leader in Rahlgars Reach (hair and all minus clothes) so it sounds like the dev team is playing around with the engine with the work they've done with XIV not just because its easier but they want to test texture mapping and self train. And I would be excited if the game also implemented the other races not limited by CC limitations.

With Hyur/Highlander. This whole argument of "muh gende/sexism/attractiveness!" would be laid to rest if you can choose a smooth or swol clan under one race with their own unique mesh/posture even if using the same model. Muscles on these races are pixilated messes that Hrothgar and parts of Au Ra were able to combat yet we still cant have any protrusion of abs, triceps, etc. via sliders unless breasts :/

Also to the later conversation...you can't have "thirst" without something "cool" to quench it.

I typically don't point to Western MMOs like ESO or EQ because I think the aesthetics look like boring, unerving trash but I get the sentament that the "animal head" is the take away.

Tis why I post so much furry art. You can make an attractive cat headed female as that's pretty damn common in furry art.

Question really comes down to "Will they though?". Like, they have a clear track record of trying to make females as attractive as they can AND not 1 female in this game has the range of "rough/ rugged/ old" faces of their male counter-parts. When it came to draggos they made the males the most beastly option at the time and just said "yeah, but nah" to the females being that way. As a Japanese company that's to be expected.

So who knows, it's in their court. Can only really prognosticate based on the data we have and show all sides of the possible paths I can find cause I'd be happy regardless of how animal they look.

It's a matter of perspective. I actually think the only good auri face is 4, but hate the pincers so I'll never play them. Their tails also come dangerously close to their butthole and don't line up with a natural tail alignment at all.

I think femroes are hotaf but mostly because I don't think short women are attractive as a baseline.

It actually KILLS me!! I live near the sea so I want to wear the mermaid fins so badly. I cave, live in it, have the alt to play with it when I have the itching need of "I can deal with it. I can live with it." Just looking at the tail for too long just begins to tear at me, and I have to swap. Not to mention it clips into capes and other dangling effects (another reason I can't play miqo'te). Perhaps if they ever decoupled horns from faces I could stick to lizards.. Viera just offers me more of what I want with less design flaws (in my opinion).

That all aside, manish or not, I think I would much rather f hrothgar to be like lady roes. I like their build and sharp features. I just think they highlight a greater issue with body design in this game where everyone has kankles and wrists the size of their forearm.

Alt just doesn't work for me, I always go back to my au ra. It sounds like you actually like face 2 au ra quite a bit. I do too! I've played it several times on my main, and my alt is currently it right now (she's gorgeous), but it's really just not the same.. Yeah, I agree on tails. Specifically miqo'te's though. There isn't that much glamour in the game where an au ra's tail really clashes - it's the easiest to work with too. Admittedly, sometimes it can look nice. Sure, yeah, the capes on some of the new judge armor, but I didn't like them much anyway. Their other features are just too good to pass up! Always liked au ra, quite a bit.

Viera is great, them and au ra are my favorite races. If only it wasn't for their limited status.. I'd say no access to purchased/unlocked hairstyles, is a much bigger issue than au ra tails, or horns. That's me though. I have only grown more annoyed over time. I switched to viera day one ShB actually, was this exact au ra previously (old, original preset), but them being limited, especially on my MAIN just gnaws at me. I can't do it. Like, I just can't. Maybe on my alt, but I have OCD, and my alt and main have to be the same race, for some reason. (They both have the same birthday, and same diety too actually..)

Au Ra are a full race, and never have to worry "if I can use that hairstyle", "that new hat/helmet", etc. Especially with a new expansion coming up with a ton of new gear, that I BET YOU viera aren't going to be able to use. Like EVEN IF come May or whatever, they announce new hairstyles, they still have the issue of further support down the line... Won't be able to use new EW hairstyles, the EW headgear, and probably won't even be able to use artifact headpieces. IT SUCKS! Like I said, that's a bigger issue, and a much worse design flaw, in my opinion.

Moving on to female hrothgar, I am hoping reivaxe is actually right here, if they ever do come out with them. I'd like them to be more like the art, more hourglass shaped, a bit smaller than femroe. Femroe, frankly, just shouldn't be a basis.

Side note, your au ra actually reminds me of one of my xaela face 2 presets. (probably my favorite one):

I am also of the opinion that both f hrothgar and m viera are a matter of time, and not a matter of if. Not 6.0, for sure, but beyond that? They sound like something that is just an easy "We want to add something new that we know people will like." No risk like trying to pull Au Ra out of the woodwork and rolling the dice on reception. Also, the loophole of "no new races". Mechanically yes, they would be new races. At face value they can go, "No, no see they were just missing genders." To stop further demands of other races.

That's just how I would work it, anyway.

Not only would they be a beast race, they would also just generally look too masculine. I played a face 4 raen ONCE on my main. She actually looked pretty good, I see the pincer horns as like demon horns. I coupled it with the spiked tail. Not a bad look, though I think face 1/2 look better. Here's the thing about au ra, the faces were built with the horns that are attached to them in mind, like even if we could choose horns, they wouldn't necessarily look good, or look as good as you would think, on another face.

Viera look great, always thought they did. The only thing that ruins it for me is the limitations. Even if I won't necessarily use a style, I don't like that I'll be left out. I literally use this hair 95% of the time on my face 1 preset! It really depends on the glamour though, trust me I switch a decent amount between them - and when I switch, it's mostly due to glamour. Each race has their pros and cons when it comes to glamour. Like your bring up Elezen, I initially disliked them. I grew to like them, I still like them right now. I have considered switching to it again, for fun, but I really need to have some glamour prepped. They can look really good in very specific glamour, but that's the problem, just very specific glamour.. those proportions definitely suck...

That's a good thing, bulky and beastly f hrothgar, would look terrible. I actually thought female charr looked terrible, they tried to be beastly... but cute at the same time, it looked RIDICULOUS!

While I do think Male viera/female hrothgar will probably get released, I'm not holding my breath. Adding a new race comes with all sorts of problems, and personally, I'd rather see them added without the limitations. Rather for SE to figure out a way to overcome the limitations - though I doubt that would ever happen.

Face 3 au ra? Like the Ruby Princess. My alt was a face 3 xaela once. She looked pretty unique. As far as au ra go. It isn't used enough, for sure.

Can we please not fight in our thread? I don't want to have it nuked like the male Viera thread was for a brief time.

Well, I wouldn't play femhroth either way, but I just feel like basing them off femroe would be an extreme disservice to the race. Not only would they be a beast race, they would also just generally look too masculine. Like, I'm sorry, but there is a reason femroe are like one of, if not the most unpopular race/gender in the entire game. Female hroths should at least have a chance!

Well yeah, its called a Niche, and Im part of that Niche of fewer people that likes this aesthetic. Frankly, them not being super popular and all over the place makes seeing them that much more special, because there arn't as many compared to seeing a bloody Miqote everywhere. No hate against them, just they are everywhere so its not special when I see one.

Person, you are not hurting me at all if you add me to your ignore list. I'm by no means "spamming", I go out of my way to find various SFW art of "female cat people" for a thread that supports the addition of "female cat people" to this game. I mean, regardless of how you feel about labels or furry art, any depiction of Hrothgar males or females is going to be furry art because they are an anthropomorphic (aka furry) race.

(Spoiler alert, some people have a strong investment in their vision of what they want them to look like and buck against this art. I have no such reservations and accept that a JPN company prob will do to them what they've done to every other female in the game and try to make them as pretty as possible with in the theme of their race)


As you can see they make it a point to show the difference in size and body shape compared to a Femroe. They have a feminine, slender hourglass shape unlike the wide shoulder and muscular looking Femroe.

Let's move on to the face shall we. They made sure to detail the Femroe face with all the key features of a Femroe face that are shared between all 4 faces. From the shape and placement of the nose to the shape of the face to the placement of the eyes and mouth, that's clearly a Femroe face.

Looking at the Hrothgar I read their faces as "possibly fairly flat". Every bit of Japanese media I've consumed tells me that a dot for the nose is an indication that it's a tiny nose and there's no strong nose bridge. Just my personal take on it buuuut I'd say it would be good to prep for that Ronso Fan art everyone posted to be the kinda face they go for.

That's my take on that.

Part of the reason I'm posting furry art is that I'm the only 1 in this thread that's been trying to find art that's similar to their depiction in that official in game artist rendition of them. Pictures speak louder than words after all, so I've no clue how to better relay their possible looks than finding a good example to show in the sea of cat people art online.

I don't care to push my beliefs on what particular way they should look, I simply try to find out what they will likely look like based on what we have and what we've seen the devs do. If you got any thoughts about their possible looks then feel free to talk about them, this thread is about Female Hrothgar and showing support for them after all.

Will we get them? I went from "Prob not" to "I'm sure we will" after YP reassured us all that they want another 10 years and I reeeeaaally don't think they will let us go into 2031 still crying about "my boi buns and lion ladies!".

Balls in your court if you want to talk about something not related to this thread that's not about art, but by no means is me posting art of cat women in this thread a distraction from the topic of ... wanting cat women in this game.
If you want the topic to change then change it, but I find it silly to ask for less art post if you don't really want to offer up another topic of discussion.

As a queer who would love to be crushed by a beautiful roegadyn woman, I have to admit that I don't really see how reusing the femroe frame for (theoretical) hrothgar women would be a disservice. It's not as though they have the exact same huge barrel chest and squat legs of the men.

Which, while I understand the want for female hroth to have minimal sexual dimorphism in a game that's really atrocious about it and would not mind such... But, speaking honestly, as much as I love my character I really hate how I have to fight to get a lot of glamours looking okay on him because of the above features, lmao.
