All in all its pretty simple. Not as simple as direct slotting, but that wouldnt have worked within the jobs of the game.
They could have had 1 of each tier drop on all gathering types, why split it further ?
And yes it would have worked with the jobs of the game, for example a weaver has a 1 body piece and a 1 materia and slots it into the item, simple.
If players want it removed they talk to the Goblin, you lose the materia.

thats what they have. they essentially have 4 tiers of catalyst per gathering type. each teir corresponds to a level range of the item/materia.
they split it into each gathering type because if they didnt, then some gatherers wouldnt have any special contribution to the process. It ensures that each gatherer type is only competing with the same type of gatherer, instead of other gathering classes, and ensures that each gathering class retains some unique value.
and how you describe it is essentially how it works. weaver has materia item and catalyst and slots it. thats it. the goblin removes it. it sounds like you have no problems with the system, other than maybe each gathering class having unique items?

Hope they do it right; this would be a nice feature to have for sure :)
Specially for people like me who play at weird time when no one is hardly on and can't ask friends to attach :) Only problem I see is if it breaks some might go crazy... but it's risk they will be making by putting it up to have it attached, if you're scared don't put it up :D
they could make it so only the first piece of materia can be added by some1 using your bazzar. any futher peices need to be added by yourself. this would prevent ppl getting blamed for breaking things :D

If it's same as repairs it wont show the name anyways unless you're in a open field and you actually see the person doing it for you + for me I would want it for 2nd+ materia as well. I'm risking my own gear/weapon by putting it up :)
Only question I asked on the JP side was would the crafting level affect the actual attachment success rate.
(Example: Says needs Blacksmith Level 30 - would success rate be different if Blacksmith Level 30 did as Level 50 does)
If crafting level DOES affect the success rate then there needs to be an option when putting up on bazaar or w/e screen they are going to name it to put minimum level requirement for the crafter to proceed on your items attachment.

Likewise, I think a way around that would be that the player would see the risks from the crafter, and confirm the attempt before the crafter continued. :)
This would only happen when the % of success was less then 100.

Man this forum needs an official bug report section, especially with all the patches coming fast and furious
Ran into a materia without a type. I.e. instead of "Dexterity Materia I" I got "Dexterity Materia" Looks like a I but in english the type is missing. If you could pass that on to the JP devs.
Incidentally - looks like rings/earrings/jewlery in general are going to be a major source of materia. I simply leave them on no matter what I'm doing and they spirit bond quite quickly because of that. Then, when they bond, I craft myself a replacement set and convert the current set to materia. I've gotten to the point where I simply vendor the less buff ones. Nice to see they are addressing the availability of catalysts for melding in patch 1.19a.

It's crazy...it's almost like they have a sub-forum for In-Game Bugs already there!

Well originally I said I would have preferred materia to be like gems in WoW, where any materia can go in any item not destroy the armor, not require extra catalyst and tbh not require a craft to install them.
Its one of those unique Japanese dev things where everything has to be done in the most time consuming and akward manner possible.
No point discussing this really in this tread anyways.

this gonna be a bit off topic, but i have to disagree, that would mean no meaning to have crafting class in the first place. Crafting classese would not have a meaning in the game if materia can be slotted by non crafters. It would be a totally different game already.

I read his dev translation about PL'ing, but I did look through the post ,i frequent this thread , I didn't just pop up on it. Just the last couple pages I missed if he actually expressed the feelings of the players, and that's always possible due to how many posts are kinda just side conversations. I asked him "what the jp players feel" some general "opinions on their side" just quick like "oh its the same as the EN", i'm not asking for translations of dev posts were already have or even really translations of players, just a quick overview of what their thinking or feeling.

Poor Rien is going to be drivin mad when people ask him to translate the new maps now that we have a good resolution image of them...
Not that this is me asking or anything... <_<
-
Reiny, when you have some spare time (i know you haven't this period eheh), could you read what japanese forum says about the imminent subscription fee? Just curious.
-
I can translate the maps and stuff for you guys in a bit but first off about subscription JP side is most likely same as NA side... I just saw a post one JP poster posted and I remember reading somewhere and it was 4gamer interview with YoshiP and the last part I didn't translate... didn't think that would come back now like this... dunno if I want to translate that one cuz it can cause more people complaining on forums... and I don't want to be bad side of SE...
Edit: Decided not to translate that one on 4gamer, it was something said back in June and don't think it's right to bring that back now although it's only been 4 month. Although I'm not 100% agreeing with the decision of subscription it's not for me to say anything about it and I don't want to be any part of the issue on this stuff by translating something. If I translated back then; then there is no way out but I didn't do it and probably my gutt feeling telling me don't back then lol (+got tired of translating on that one since it was super super long w)

thanks reinheart, and thank you for all the hard work tranlating for us!

Thx a lot Reiny, those maps are really interesting now.
Astronomy Observatory :0 Hope to see some constellations and night-sky stuff from there! :D

:Q I love you, more please.

Nice work, Rein. Looks like that tower with the round and square platforms is out in Upper La Noscea, in the middle of a lake, according to that new map. It's the little details like those that really get me excited for the new setup :D

Rein! when you get some time, there is 3 post by Yoshi.P today!

Big post by Yoshida at http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post395445
My japanese isn't very good at all, he definitely mentions something about character data being migrated, but I can't tell if he's saying ""Whether or not you play, your character data won't be wiped" or "If you continue to play, your character data won't be wiped."

was playing FFXIV and didn't check forums till now... that is one long post again... lol
I'll translate tomorrow morning when i get to the office, got plans tonight so can't do ><

I am pretty sure that its from the opening cutscene.
