Well their support is pretty swamped with people complaining, they can't satisfy everyone right now.
8 hours later and still no response? well, time to call SE then...
edit hurray the phone line is busy! cant even get into the phone line to get put on hold for an hour...
Back from work, and the automated system has confirmed that they have received my ticket 24 hours later and they will be answered within 48 hours...
I'm half tempted to just pay the £15 for the digital upgrade and forget about my useless £35 lost in cyberspace... The main reason I bought the CE was because I liked the improvements made to the game and of course, the pre-order and early access.
It now seems I've paid £35 for two days of unplayable gametime and a couple of items sadly... I just await my email reply in the meantime, it no rush but it's still a pain :(
I got a reply from the EU support for the ticket I made about this issue. Basically its telling me I'm stuck with codes which are useless and I paid for, and if I want my items I'm going to have to pay extra.
I'm a patient person, and I can deal with all the server down time and all. But when There is clearly a problem at the SE end of things here and we, the people who have given them a second chance and are willing to spend more money on a CE, get screwed by their system really pisses me off. Very poor service SE, very poor. :mad:Quote:
We are sorry to hear of your issues registering your Collector?s Edition code for FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to register a Collector?s Edition PC code if you already have any PC version of the original game already registered.
If you registered the Collector?s Edition code, it would create a new service account, but it would not be possible to transfer any of your characters to this.
The only option to upgrade your existing account would be to use the Digital Upgrade service available on the Mog Station.
We apologise for the inconvenience and hope that you will enjoy playing Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn!
whatever you do, dont buy the upgrade even if you get tired of messing around with their support. giving in and buying the upgrade only gives them a reason to keep doing this.
well i finally got through, but im sitting on hold here's to hoping!
I am certainly not giving into thieves.
welp, i went to put my phone on speaker and hit the end call button. there goes 45 minutes of hold time... hopefully i can get them back on the line before they close
Can anyone answer me this...
If you have a 1.0 Standard account and you use the upgrade to CE feature on the MOGStation do you also get 30days added to your account or just the CE items and left with whatever remainder of the 14days they gave us?
couldnt get back on the line with customer support, looks like i am trying again tomorrow. wish me luck!
no, digital account upgrade will not give you extra free days.
only way to get the 30 days of free time is to buy a PS3 version, use the included account registration code and link your 1.0 account to it.
This makes both your PS3 and PC account log to the same characters and will give you the bonus PS3 version gives you.
Same if you register the PS3 ARR CE.
I played 1.0 on a free trial but never bought the game(though I did put $35 worth of Crysta on my account). UPS finally delivered my PC Physical CE today, and went to mogstation to register the code...and I run into this issue.
This is ridiculous, why can't I just simply put in the code? Why is there an issue?
Anyway I put in a email to support, hopefully they can help.
In regards to email support, you are probably looking at a 72 hour reply window, it took 24 hours for them to receive mine ^^;;
I think the same guy who designed customer support was the guy who implemented the original HNM system in FFXI, wait 3 days and maybe it will pop lol
According to SE:
Source.Quote:
If I played FFXIV version 1.0, can I use a registration code attatched to a Windows version FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Collector's Edition package?
If you played FFXIV version 1.0, you cannot use a registration code attached to a Windows version FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Collector's Edition package. Instead, you simply need to purchase the Collector's Edition digital upgrade.

If you have already purchased a Collector's Edition package, please note that we do not accept any returns. If this is the case, we advise you to create a new service account.
This isn't really acceptable though. I mean if we purchased the physical PS3 CE then we would be able to but not the PC? WTF SE, what are you thinking? What about the people who play only PC and decided this time around they wanted to get the PHYSICAL CE edition because they wanted not only the digital items but also the physical bonus items (such as the pre-order items, the soundtrack, artbook, etc...) as well as use their old v1.0 character? Apparently you didn't think about them and that's a real shame. You are creating a double standard by allowing those who purchased the PS3 physical CE to circumvent this, but not the PC users.
Sorry I've already posted this elsewhere, but I hope this thread will get more attention.
I am sure there is still a lot of people that are disoriented and not understanding what is going on. The "hot topics" function of the forums still not set up, it doesn't help spreading the word (decision on purpose surely). Even without it, this thread need more "likes".
This matter worries me more than the technical difficulties they are having at the moment.
This issue was expected long ago, right after they put the preorder website online.
Almost immediatly players have detected this problem and tried to warn about what is happening today.
We legitimately asked to be able to use the code from physical ARR CE PC on the upgrade service as a bonus code, or reduction coupon so that it would be free (even at the cost of disabling the code to create a new account) to upgrade a standard v1 PC account to an ARR collector PC account.
They were not unaware of this, and we have been heard.
And the answer was : "there is no plan to do this"
I love the game, and respect all the work you've done. I can understand mistakes when you put so much effort to fix them, and bring the game in a state even beyond expectations.
But I can't accept such a poor decision made in all conscience.
This only affects your long time customer, and is all the more unfair.
Think of the message you are sending to your new, maybe volatile customers. What will you do in 3 / 6 months when you'll lose your hardcore fans, and the new ones.
On the contrary it's a great opportunity for you to show that you care for your long time fans, and prove to those who can become the new ones that they can count on you in the future should another problem arise.
I count on you and wish you the best, I hope you'll make good decisions.
So after a call to customer support the only answer I got is: "Try to get a refund." That is quite literally all the guy on the other end of the line said.
I somewhat doubt that anyone will get a different response, and it still leaves us with useless codes we paid for.
I'm slowly getting to the point where I've had enough of your **** SE. Also an official reaction of sorts would be nice, cause I know a fair few people who have the same issue aside to the ones on here.
Well, this is funny, i somehow ended up with this issue too ¬¬. Is ridiculous that you cant use the code to update your account, they had to put an option in the "upgrade to CE" page that allow us to use that code instead of paying the amount is needed to update your account.
I've been searching a solution for this problem since launch, and found this thread today, i hope that they're reading us because there are a lot of people with the same problem.
Now i'm waiting to a reply of my ticket that i send three days ago. The only repply that i've got for now is a standar reply that tells me to close my ticket, wtf.
Square Enix can you aknowledge you're in the wrong here and are trying to set this straight instead of hiding behind a forum post about the welcome back event that 95% of the playerbase has not seen.
I'm a big SE fan and I have a lot of your games, but this is just a huge backstab towards your loyal fans. Since they already bought the game twice!
Gave my CE code to my sister, she bought the standard. But she can't use the code? Why not? Says 'invalid'.
I would assume if your sister is using it to upgrade from a standard account the code is only good for a new game account. So your sister would have to start a new account, just like you would, to use the code. If she isn't using it to upgrade her standard, then I don't know what's going on.
Thank SE for that piece of stupidity with not allowing us to upgrade accounts with CE codes.
So I think what we've all learned is SE is saying eff you 1.0 players. Go buy the 19.99 upgrade because clearly you need to buy the game some more. It comes down to a poor business model, terrible customer service and a lack of anticipating the potential product issues. If they really anticipated this as a problem there would have been a notice to players at the time of buying the product instead of obscuring the information in forum threads.
The worse part is they just don't care.
Home from work and still nothing, I'm just going to Digitally Upgrade it, can't be bothered to waste any more time trying to get anywhere ... Good luck to everyone else, but it seems support has derped this one.
we arent on the first page anymore :(
That and, if people buy the digital upgrade to "fix" the problem, then if SE finally implements a real fix to those of us with this problem they'll have ANOTHER problem on their hands with players saying "But I bought the digital upgrade because I thought I had to!!". Don't exacerbate the problem.
Also, bump.
My plan is, if I don't hear back from SE tomorrow, I'm going to sell my code to a friend for $20 and buy the digital upgrade to break even.
What's really annoying is they haven't stated WHY it's not possible. I just don't see how they can't add a simple code onto my account. It's not even like I get a free copy of the game, I didn't buy 1.0 I only played on a free trial.
Whenever support gets back to me I figure I'll give them these options: Either they somehow add my CE code to my account, or I create a new account with the code and they transfer my character and my Crysta over.
Those seem fair right?
thats about what i am gonna do, while im sitting on hold with their customer support. when i finally get someone just going to see if they can upgrade my account if i give them my cd key + order number since i bought it off their website... if not i am going to raise so much hell...
It's not possible because the account system was not set up to allow it, it would be an easy thing to program into the account system but the question will be if they are willing to do it or not. And yeah, they will probably done one of those things, as soon as the Customer Support stops being flooded by people complaining about the 1017 issue.
still on hold, been on hold for an hour and a half...
i miss square soft :( why did they ever have to become square enix...
