The removal od +1 and +2 from battle was a great change...i believe doing this at gathering would be just as good for inventory.
Also, if all +1 and +2 are removed from gathering too, it should also be removed from materials/parts from synthesis, leaving only the normal and hiqh quality versions for all kinds of materials and leaving the 3 HQ tiers (+1, +2 and +3) related to equipment only.
And, in another point, i believe equipments dropped by mmonsters shouldn't be under the "NQ or +3" rule...equipments should still drop all 4 tiers.
My thoughts on +1/2
Keep them as part of crafting
remove them from gathering also
then things will be peachy
you still have that HQ 1/2/3 goal and progression to make gear with
but you will only gather NQ/HQ mats as such, 2 kinds, instead of 4
and that will eliminate alot of the extra room being taken up
Agree that +1/+2 should be removed from gathering. Having to have 16+ slots purely for logs (then another 16+ for branches and other things) when farming/grinding is stupid.
High quality gear is good, high quality materials are bothersome.
With the other changes that are being planned for the crafting system, taking out the +1 and +2 materials may be rather easy.
/signed for removal of +1/+2 from battle and gathering.
I would love to see +1/+2 disappear from DoL gathering as well, that would be HUGE for my storage space.
I believe they do need to take off the +1 +2 but it feels odd to have a normal quality and a +3 so why not make the +3 simple +1 so we have normal and +1 that way people dont think there are +1 +2 in the middle i think its a bit err nonsensical
I would suggest changing the name of +3 items in general because it only makes sense in the terms of items you can get +1-2-3 of.
Otherwise it's NQ and...+3? maybe just lable materials from gathering and whatnot as HQ.
High quality Walnut Log
High Quality Crab shell.
Definitely do NOT remove +1 or +2 from crafting.
if you do that then you cant have +1/2/3 gear in general
alot of us are talking about keeping crafting +1/2/3 but eliminating the materials you gather in the field through combat and gathering
SO a +1/2 still exist, but only if you actualy synthed them
this leaves you with the goal of trying to make those +3 items still, while also having +1/2 progression along the way if you cant reach that +3 synth
I would love to see +1, +2, and +3 all removed from MATERIALS (like those dropped from mobs or gathered from DoL) but they should be kept for finished products and parts.
I would be ok with removing +1 and +2 *materials* completely, but i don't think +1 and +2 *results* should be eliminated. With "results" i mean final products, as swords, shields, armor, potions, arrows. full dishes and so forth. I feel that having different degrees of HQ for those is still valuable, while it's not as important for basic and intermediate materials.
In the end though, the real long term answer to the storage problem is always the same:
Player Housing (and the ability to obtain further retainers)
Placebo solutions can only carry us so far.
I would prefer the removal of +1/2 from gathering and on materials for synthesis while keeping them for finished items.
keep them or increase +3 rate
if you're a crafter under 40 please be silent
you obviously know nothing about HQing items
Actually crafting level has very little to do with having a full inventory/retainers. Many aren't crafters over 40 exactly because they have multiple crafts, and having multiple crafts takes *way* more inventory space that having a single craft in the last few levels.
In most cases, if you're crafting items and getting +1/+2, you are probably going to use those items in the short term, so I don't think it's a problem.
Removing +1 and +2 from crafting would be fine. At endgame crafting I consider +1s to be about as useful as NQ and +2s to be worth a shot at using for HQ.
It functionally increases the number of +3 mats. Endgame crafters don't care about how many NQ or +1s they get.
Think i have to agree with removal of +1,2 & 3.
And keep focus on general quality of whatever you are making, if by chance you are using quality
mats the chances of creating a High Quality item/gear/weapons increases, also more impact of
points allotment (unless it's completly removed), gear affecting crafting would be good.
Id also suggestsome ingame NPC explaining the crafting stats on gear, what they affect and so on.
Maybe some of those "Dusty Tomes" that conjurer & thaumaturge guilds have.
(wich i think is a wonderful idea)
Or just open up a small library in each of the cities for new & experienced players to go to & read up on things.
The possibility of a ingame library is pretty much unexplored in many mmo's.
I HQ'd my first finished item at R35, Iron Shortsword >.>
Anywho I think +1 and +2 should be removed from gathering definantly. It is a waste of space to gather 4 qualities of various items. Maybe even remove +1 and +2 from crafting as well, Would help simplify the calculations. Keep the +3's
I think it's important that the +1/+2 items remain within the game at this point.. The economy has sort of molded to that feature... Such as NQ 100k, +1 200k, +2 300k, +3 400k. The slight bonus depending on which quality you buy is nice, it offers a little bit more of distinction between the casual and the hardcore player, plus it also serves to seperate the economy a little bit and offer a bigger reward for spending either more gil buying the item, or more time crafting it.
It feeds the economy.. I know crafters that aim for +3's.. and Sell the +1/+2's if they're unsuccessful.
While I agree storage is an issue I personally do not think this is the solution to fixing it. I own many +1/+2 items. Only 1-2 +3's.
Remove the +x system.
Replace it entirely by a new item upgrading system, more customizable.
Remove +1 and +2 materials altogether (crafting/gathering/monster loot) and keep only +3. Or remove +2 and +3 and keep the +1, either method works. +1 to +3 on finished items is fine, including food. Way I see it the majority of players right now do not care for all the multiple HQ crafting items. Most of the time I see the HQ items going for the same if not lower than the NQ because the HQ items simply take up too much extra space and a lot of people would just rather be rid of it than try and find a buyer who pays extra.
In the long run, players should theoretically only be using +3 items to craft in order to make profit from +3 products or NQ items to make cheap NQ products (food, arrows, etc.). This means that +1 and +2 items will end up being useless anyway.
I think +1 +2 and +3 should still be available for armour and and weapons, however, materials and stackable items should just be available in NQ and HQ in general.
It would also be nice if inventory was split into separate sections for equipment and materials/consumables ideally with 100 slots each.
I don't mind keeping +1 +2 around for crafting, but the inventory problem needs be addressed somehow.
I agree with removing the +2 and +3 and just keep one HQ item, could be +1 but make it hard to obtain and give it very good stats. it would save space and will give a new dimension for HQ items.
I really like the flexibility that +1, 2, 3 gives to upgrading equipment. That being said I really like having inventory space as well. I would be ok with a system that simpy had +1s for materials that were rare and equal to a +3 in value/rarity to save space on inventories and retainers.
However, maybe have a few items of equipment that also did have 2s and 3s. In XI you would find some items had levels beyond +1 and I think thats ok. Just because some do doesn't mean that every item has to have a 1, 2, and 3.
Anything that stacks NQ and HQ3 only (which should be all parts and a few throwing items / food)
Anything that doesnt stack have all 4 tiers. (So all finished items / equipment / gear / jewellry) ensuring we have levels of gear so crafters still have something to aim for, currently making a +3 finished item is hard and it should stay that way.
I personally like the +1, +2 items and would be sad to see them go. I would rather like to have quests that we can do to increase inventory space on both our characters and our retainers. I would also like to see a linkshell bank that we can access after doing some linkshell quests, that we can deposit Gil and items into. I would also be for a community bank where we can buy space, and thus be able to deposit money and items. This bank would be in the major cities and thus you could access your items from anywhere, perhaps for a small service charge.
Please keep the +1/+2 items, they add variability to everything and certain unpopular items become popular (without having to go all the way to +3).
If the unfortunate event that +1/+2 are removed, rename +3 to something else. It would be simply silly to have +3 items without the +1/+2 (the +x naming loses it's meaning).
We should get rid of +1's , +2's , +3's on anything that isn't equipment. No more high quality items please! :) Thats my opinion at least..
Or maybe just turn +3s into "High Quality" like xi perhaps? So a +3 bat fang would be a "HQ Bat Fang"
NO Removal of + items!!!
or
Change all together!
It just doesnt make sense. To go out logging and you only can find really crappy wood, or extremely great wood. You fell a beast in the wild and you only get wing thats all torn up or in mint condition.
Lets look at the core of it, is it the +1,+2 items you would rather see removed? or your inventory adjusted properly to be able to accommodate the items you collect?
I am completely AGAINST the removal of +1,+2 items from gathering/killing mobs. It takes away from the believability of the world, which I think is sorely lacking in this game to draw you in which is what FF is a big part of.
From a crafting perspective, I want as many HQ items (+1,+2,+3) as I can get my hands on for my high rank alchemist (r48), but for other crafts like carpentar (r24) I mainly only use NQ to rank up on, however now that I have a decent amount of money it would be nice to rank up on some +1 items for the extra boost in durability, I could do higher ranked synths and gain more sp/synth, IF +1 items were available.
Again, I DONT think removing the +1,+2 items from gathering/mob drops is the answer
One solution I thought of is to simply make all the items stack under one inventory slot, so you could have 99 NQ, 99+1, 99 +2, 99 +3, all taking only 1 inventory space. This could be even furthered by making a quest out of it. Maybe there is a very easy quest to gain the additional +1 slot (taking maybe 10min), then a little bit harder quest for +2 or +3. These are things that will help draw you into the world. There will be a reason to accomplish these quests, and a reward worth having when completed. It will give players a goal and make them feel accomplishment when finished.
If the +1,+2 item feature isnt worth keeping then lets do away with the whole system and come up with something that makes sense not just NQ, +3 for gathered/mob drop items
What do you think, like if you agree
Aiming for the highest quality item is half the fun of crafting. But four different qualities of stackable items is too much of a burden on inventory space and item organization.
I agree with ObeiKinstar's comment. Create a system that can keep higher quality items without the use of additional inventory space. Otherwise if this cant be done i'd like to see +1 and +2 items removed if it can be stacked.
My major concern in regards to item quality is the names.
+1, +2, +3? Ewwww ugly!
Why not get rid of the + numbers on the item name and just add it to the items stats panel along side Untradeable and Unique?
And maybe even change the quality description altogether.
You could use a coloured spot, kinda like what's used for enemy toughness, to describe an items quality.
Or you could use letters instead of +1. Like this: HQ(High Quality), RQ(Rare Quality) and hmm idk CQ(Crystal Quality).
Theres so many better ways to describe an item other than just a +.
Please like if you agree. I'm Curious.
Im ok with finished items (weapons/armor/tools) +1/+2/+3.
Materials though should be just NQ and HQ. And im not saying "Copper Ore" and "Copper Ore +3" - since there is no +1 and +2, it just wrong to name it +3. Should be something like "Copper Ore" and "High Quality Copper Ore".
