If I stop complaining I'll just start sobbing about what they did to astrologian this expansion :( (I say this with levity- but man I am bummed out)
As yoshida once said, complaining players still care. Once they stop complaining, they quit and they're just gone.
If you want people to stop complaining they can, but then once their tolerance for issues is hit they are just going to leave with their sub money and be gone. That's the gamble you play when you silence dissent and negative feedback.
There is a clear pattern with critic and user reviews, and with the feedback that this expansion's story has been sub par for the final fantasy franchise, along with various groups and special interests being annoyed that the issues they care about are being shoved to the back.
The story of Endwalker covered up a lot of issues and cracks that were forming, and without a great story, players are noticing the issues and posting about them.
It's easy for people of whatever group to say "oh well don't let the door hit you on the way out, if you don't like this expansion good riddance, if you don't like these duties good riddance", and so on but for SE, they just added a ton of server infrastructure and hired a ton of people, that's an ongoing cost, so they need to keep a high number of subs running to fund this game.
They need people to be happy, or at least placated and still subbing. Complaining means they are on the edge and can be brought back but once they stop, they're gone and it's expensive to advertise and entice them to pick up the game again.
I give up on you.
You clearly don‘t read my posts and just fabricate what you want to read.
I said that it’s a problem if they only react when the playerbase starts quitting.
Your answer to that is to say that I‘m no longer the target audience and no longer part of the market they want to sell after many years.
I also didn‘t use the word „complaining“ but „negative feedback“.
You also don‘t even respond to the other comments I’m my posts and answer my questions.
I won‘t respond to you anymore because you don‘t even want to have a proper argument.
Have a good day.
WoW devs were also told by addicts that the game was perfect and they had some superiority complex. Then came Shadowlands with a record-low active player base, and mass migration to FF14, and other games. Sproutbringer happened for a reason.
Now after seeing Endwalker live and Shadowbringers on the last patch it's kind of obvious the game is somewhat stagnant and copy-paste of previous expansions when it comes to structure. The story was supposed to create engagement, a spectacle, and aside from a few moments (like with flying NPCs), it was the opposite of that. And when the story builds no engagement there is less incentive to grind expansion patches. Just wait for 7.55 before 8.0 or just ignore it until the actual change takes place. And that's on top of the FF14 player base being mostly plot watchers. Dawntrail started from a record high point and now the metric will be how many will stay for 7.1. Encounters are good but not everyone is here for savage.
They added 2 new DPS jobs, yet side quests or fates can't be used to level any side job. A simple change that could be retroactive. We have 2024 and voice acting is still very limited. And when 8.0 shows up the expansion zones will be like any other expansion zones - abandoned. The only "preparation for the next 10 years" is a key and probably more space and reflections, depending on what 7.X patches will tell. A Disliked acting ruler will be hidden from screen time like the previous one.
And from their interviews where each feature like job stones recently indicates anything they do is done from the perspective of money. They are for-profit company but its policy also limits work on game debt as it won't bring subscribers or new sales. New expansion, new job, mount, collab... that is what matters. They might push for a good product alongside the next release but that's the interest of only part of the company.
If they want to stop complaints maybe fix the problems so the game feels fun for all types of players not just a select few.
I understand that you dont care about the game so you dont care that something about it is bad, but some of do, so we want it to be better.
Problems.... Your problems are just.,. Well yours.
Go try another MMORPG and then tell me if FF14 has problems.
Complain all you want but its still not without consequences.
Imo I bet most of the complaining is done by narcissistic selfish players who want this and that. Trying to say just because you pay your sub, you can complain? Sure but that doesn't mean you're right.
I'd rather you have an interesting valid reason for posting a concern other then "look at me!"
It is impossible to please everyone in a community this large and diverse.
Try to appeal to everyone and ultimately you will end up appealing to no one.
FF-XIV certainly is not w/o it's flaws. No human creation ever is.
But outside of very rare exceptions "complaining" doesn't achieve anything useful.
You bring forth your criticism in a constructive and well thought out manner.
After that, it is up to the DEVs, whether they want to implement changes or not. If they don't, they have their reasons. We're not privy to them, that may suck but that's how it is.
Let me paint you a picture: If I cook you a Steak and put a lot of work into it, it can still taste bad to you and everybody else. If I do not get any feedback on that I will keep making bad steaks and my Restaurant would go bankrupt.
YOU should be glad people still Care enough to give feedback or "complain" as you describe it.
If people go into apathy-mode and stop caring, they move on and the Game dies. I saw this happen on quite a few games i loved to play.
People complained about the MSQ dungeons not being doable in ARR because nobody queue'd for them.
-> They made them part of a dedicated roulette
People complained they couldn't enjoy the cutscenes because veterans skipped and killed the boss while people enjoyed the story
-> They made cutscenes unskippable
People complained not enough people ran them to get queues going
-> they added buffed experience requirements and tokens
This was a good example of where "complaints" and feedback actually helped solve the problems.
The majority of posts I have been reading on these boards the last weeks have been....none of the sort...
You only list gameplay things though.
The other side of the medal is:
People complained that we are only nodding and standing around
-> they added dialogue options
People complained about Lyse
-> they benched her
People complained about AAR pacing
-> they trimmed it down
People absolutely loved Emet-Selch
-> they gave him more scenes in EW
People loved G'raha Tia and his eating scene
-> they made him a focus and played up his eating stuff (that was actually in an interview recently)
What I'm trying to say:
They absolutely do take feedback be it positive or negative.
The majority of the posts for the last weeks were about Wuk Lamat, the WoL only nodding and standing around, no gameplay in the MSQ far too less Krile and problems in the writing.
These are as rightfull to be posted as those gameplay issues you listed.
If i am unhappy with the story I will say so and it seems I'm not the only one who thinks that.
That's a fair thing to do.
But I do feel that there needs to be constructive feedback included.
I can totally respect someone saying they did not like the story, as long as they can point out what part they don't like and what they want to see changed.
Because that's something that can be worked with.
People just going "this sucks".....okay?
Yeah, stop complaining!
In the words of Jay Bauman satirizing the typical modern geek culture (aka you): Just consume product and get excited for the next product
Keep complaining.
Nothing changes and nothing gets better if nobody says anything.
I greatly appreciate the devs' work. But nothing's perfect.
No, you stop complaining.
haha, gottem
Ok, I’ll stop complaining.
When they make Bard a full caster and Scholar a support buffer
*evil laugh*
So your thread is, shut up and lick boots, give them you hard earned cash even though they've delivered a sub par product............. Good take bro
I'm guessing you're part of the participation medal generation, well here's the secret of life, NO ONE CARES HOW HARD YOU TRIED. Shocking I know but it turns out results are generally all that matters, if you paid someone to cook you a meal and it tasted revolting would you say, hey at least they tried, I best eat it all up.........
Don't ask questions, just consume product and get excited for next product
This community is fascinating with how willing they are to just accept whatever thrown to them.. it's really interesting comparing this to other games
10 years of a good story arch to suddenly getting story thats worse then what i would consider arr story on release I think people have a right to complain about a product they have played for any variation of time. I been playing since 2013 and at this point would even consider arr better at world building compared to dawntrail even if i didn't care for arr story back in 2013 and everything from story to music and job design was a massive step down this expansion. The only thing i consider an improvement would be dungeons in terms of trying to up the difficulty of dungeons and somewhat refreshing spins on mechanics.
I'm gonna complain even harder
I will keep complaining because of the lack of healing to be done.
No need for jokes in that regard, that is just human nature.
We tend to form groups with like-minded individuals and then defend that social consensus against opposing opinions.
When in such a group, many people give up objectivity for fear of being removed if they speak against the grain, and there you have it: a "cult" is born.
That being said: I feel that the cult in this forum is more about complaining than actually liking the game. When I say that I like the new characters, people look at me funny. When I say that I like Wuk Lamat, they want to examine my head (not in a good way). *shrug*
lol no /10char
We literally pay to buy the game and we pay MONTHLY just to log in and play the game we buy. At that investment I think it's perfectly fair to state issues and things people don't like. The game has to keep players in game to make money and if people don't like it they won't play. So literally our feedback is important and telling us to shut up cause "it's a video game let the devs do their thing" Is kinda messed up cause we deserve to have our voices heard if we're to pay almost 200 dollars a year to just LOG IN
Oh wow you actually replied? Thanks! Didnt think i would "trigger* you that mutch. Talk about common ground. Yeah progress was made.
I feel ashamed that I have been spreading false information that this was Power Rangers. Thank you for spending one of your 3 only posts here for this gem of info.
I've seen this so many times as a "power rangers" gif that I must have created a false memory of actually seeing this as an original episode. It would have been very on brand for that show though haha.
Op tells us to stop complaining but they are complaining talk about calling the kettle black.
