Please get rid of repairs.

That's great for you, but it doesn't change the fact that making money in this game is basically the easiest thing in the world. You can make back what you spend on repairs in under an hour.

You know what was a good deterrent to death? Experience loss. With this system, I can just strip when exploring dangerous areas and only suffer damage to the stick sword I picked up from an early quest.

I'd prefer they either drop the repair system altogether and concentrate on something that makes me legit fear death and doesn't get in the way of the gameflow.

I don't know about you, but to me that's a lot of time to dedicate to earning gil for repairs. Maybe for someone rich like you it's not much of a factor, but for me it's a significant cost and I avoid it via player repairs whenever possible.

Except the first time, you're usually fighting through dangerous areas, not exploring them. So you fight naked to save repair costs?

I see your points, and as valid as they are, I still prefer an XP loss system. It just happens and I can fix it without having to run to a city or outpost, calling up a friend to meet up with me, or hoping that someone nearby can fix it. It doesn't get in the way of gameplay and interrupt the flow. I just think there are better ways to punish the player for death...or continual gameplay.

I'm not any fan of repairs really, but I will pass on EXP loss. Spending some gil, even if it's a noticeable amount, doesn't carry the same feeling of work being undone as EXP loss.

How about auto money loss?
Like Pokemon.

The problem is partly created by the players. SE gave the ability to have the gear fixed while you are wearing it, but a majority of the time that I check people with repair up they don't need anything repaired and they just leave it up. Sooooo..... I stopped checking.

I like the system and don't want it removed, but 5000 gil per repair from NPC is pretty steep IMO, especially for lower lvl.

You might not like repairs but they help to slow inflation within the economy. If you can't wait, pay the 5k. I know standing around sucks.

I think items do degrade a wee bit too fast but other than that I am kind of impartial to the whole thing. If I can't do my own repair or find one of my friends to do it for me, I do a simple shout in Uldah using the auto-translate and I get repaired within 2 minutes. Eg. <Goldsmith> <Repair> <Can I have it> @ Bric-A-Brac <Thank You>

It is more of a handy man and not a jack of all trades. The difference is the proficiency level of the two. Also I was willing to meet people half way and I am sure a lot of others would be too, I wouldn't mind leveling all my DoH to 30 then doing some quest chain or crafting quest on that respective class maybe you have to repair 100-200 items and then you would be able to obtain the key item to let you do all said repairs on you main DoH. Also make it where you have to have the required tool in your inventory to perform the repairs.

Though likely something like this won't happen unless they decide to go against the player poll for some reason or another or try to meet in the middle. Also going back to crafting chat in general I wish they would make it like FFXI where you could only max one said craft or choose it as your main DoH. Then gain access to special recies etc that you could not unless it was set.

The fact that some of you seriously think this is a gil sink or some kind of economic awesomeness is mind boggling. I don't even care if they leave it in or not, but the fact that this is the case argued to actually keep it in the game is almost not even an argument at all because anyone actually using their head knows this is definitely no gil sink. Maybe if you are in a bad LS that makes you switch between 7 jobs during your event and you wipe 24/7 while doing your events for hours upon hours. If that is the case, either get a new LS and L2play better or stop pugging.

Seriously now. My only pain with the current system, it's that it's easier to repair people's gear in bulk than my own. They could make that I select to repair all gear I have 100-70-50-10-0%-all gear class related. That would make me happy. Instead I got to repair one by one...

Ya, they really also need to get you repair on anything like Dragoon for example if you have the right DoH lvld. I think they also should scale the repair costs on NPC for w/e % your armor is at.

I find this VERY hard to believe. I also play on Balmung and I have never had this kind of difficulty getting my gear repaired.

It doesn't matter if I am seeking repairs while wearing the gear or if I put the item up in my Bazaar with the cost of the Dark Matter and a small amount of Gil as the reward, it never takes more than 15 minutes.

Also, do you not have a Linkshell? If ever I am having a hard time getting something repaired there is almost always someone in my LS that is willing to do it. Have you ever tried asking your LS mates?

And people bring up linkshell dependency way too much. Yeah i got a linkshell, but i aint a leech either. If i leveled a crafting class i wouldnt want to stop what im doing to go fix someones crap. Common courtesy imo.

Repairs belong to this game as the purpose is to tease gamers. Maybe japanese philosophy. Personally in real life I don't easily get angry, not also in other games. This game is exception. Think the thaumaturge quest Hearing voices. Or the logic of some dungeons. Or waiting that you get missing MP (you never get) or when you hit with your weapon you can drink some coffee and come back to see that it finally hits if not parred. I can play this when I take some good games between. Better than teasing would be to make gamers happy and servers fluent.

I'm gonna support this.

I get the logic, I understand the need for, and I see why it was implemented. But you know what I don't have to think logically every time. I think it's a chore, and I were given a choice, I'd choose for items not to go bad.

HOWEVER, I think just simply weapons (and shield) slot should take damage, and all crafting class with appropriate level can repair it (to be fair to other crafts not just armorer etc..)

Weapon = damage output when it's yellow, and even less when it's red. This impacts magic, too, and healing potency.

It would be fine if it was only a money sink. But its a time sink some times too, having to wait for repairs before you can begin events.

Im not sure I'd like the repairs removed, but I will hope that in V2 the whole system is stream lined and simplified.

5000 gil repair is for lv 40+ gear.
Lower gear is cheaper.

It's well balanced around how much gil you can earn from standard loot and leve reward at the gear level.

There is realism in fantasy as well as fantastical things. Go read a fantasy novel sometime they have to describe a fight scene accurately or even how to sing properly or the writer is going to be critisized. That I'll agree too but also if they do that it should be only up to a certain lvl as or having to do another quest after reaching cap for all also if they want to do higher level gear other wise where is the fairness to it. I can be stubborn when I want to be but if something sounds fair i won't argue with it

I suppose it depends on the time of the day you playing at. I play at different times of the day depending on what my work schedule is, and I will concede that there are times when it can be a bit slower, but it always gets done with minimal waiting. Sorry you seem to be having such an issue with this.

As far as "Linkshell Dependency" goes... I personally don't like that term, you seem to be attaching a negative connotation to it and I don't think it should be viewed that way. Everyone brings something different to the table, whether that be crafting, battle, gathering, etc. And the whole point of being a part of a LS community is to share these things with each other. It's not about a dependency, it's about using this system of the game for what it what designed for.

It's not about leeching from someone else, I am sure there are things that you bring to the table that benefit them at some point. Also I wouldn't expect them to stop what they are doing and come and repair your things. If they are not busy and they are willing to do it, then you go to them. Common courtesy, yes.

All the people sitting in Ul'dah, LOOKING for people that accidentally still have their repair icon up even though they are at 90% just so they can make some quick gil.... and you can't get repaired fast enough?

/shout (Repair) (Can you do it?) (Goldsmith) (Armorer), etc @ (Aetheryte).

After you shout that, go use the bathroom and come back. Voila, you are fixed.
