I'm so happy they adressed the Savage rewards, but they said nothing about Criterion rewards so I'm a bit worried. Still, I think they said there will be another LL for 6.45 so I'll use my Copium until then.

I like the maiming and aiming sets so I'm not super mad, but goodness gracious circlets all the way again huh.

Some of the weapons look really good (war axe, monk fists).
I'll keep being mad at the trash caster/healer gear.
Had to log in to type this. (Lucky I don't make a thread)
Over the last month I've seen alot of fear mongering about the game.
The content is dull i'll agree! However, when you have ppl making threads like this, ppl talking in third person and ppl obsessing over Kiaten, it has to stop.
This game may be in decline - but so what?
I love this game as much as you all, but seriously, you all need to grow up.
This minion though! :D I need him!

Most people aren't just playing FFXIV. Even if they don't play other games necessarily, they'll have different things to occupy their time. Speaking for myself, I watch a lot of podcasts, shorts and bounce around to different forums. All while also playing other games just nowhere near as many as you mentioned.
The actual criticism people have is FFXIV has nowhere near enough content to last even a month in a five month long patch cycle. Not unless you're just doing weeklies. Odd numbered patches are specifically bad for this. Case in point, 6.3 will have lasted 19 weeks yet everything in both it and the .5 patch thereafter offered could barely fill a week, let alone nineteen. I don't think it's unreasonable for people to be annoyed they can't get four weeks out of nineteen before they have to "play other games."
Looked like a pretty good LL to me. The only thing that worries me is their stance on relics. Just give relic farmers some shit to farm. Otherwise... well, they didn't give an indication on whether the criterion reward scheme is fundamentally changing, but I'd hope so.
Well, my question when I look at this is, if someone showed this picture, hiding the races- and asked you which game it came from - would you be able to tell? My answer would be "no idea"- it could be from one of any number of games, it's so generic. It just looks like a fairly recycled medieval concept, whereas we've had some sets that were more distinctive - even the Nier set, for example- so I would like something that deviates from the "healers and casters in robes, tanks in armor" paaradigm in future
It is indeed.
I understand ppl are upset but spamming these forums over and over with hyperbolic hearsay doesn't help this game thrive.

It's the closest to Kaiten.
I agree with you...I have a lot of love for this game but every single time it is the same old outfits. It just looks like reskinned armour or pretty close. Nier gear is so nice and I would love something along the line of the outfit similar to alphascape there are some really nice pieces in there. The robes need to go and also dancer's wearing bard gear has never worked for me.
Yeah at this point all that I can do is grant his wish. There's absolutely nothing for me to do in FFXIV other than taking an hour to play through Pandaemonium once it releases because you couldn't pay me enough to tolerate whatever is going on with Zero and the accursed dragons in the MSQ.
So congratulations to them. They have made so many bad decisions this expansion that as one of their long term fans that's been mostly subbed for the better part of the last decade, I will be taking an indefinite break after May 23rd. This isn't the outcome I wanted, but it's the outcome they deserve after stacking so many mistakes on top of each other.
You want me back? Start rebuilding my trust by making both a decent MMO and a decent RPG and then put it together. With the apparent loss in profits SE has suffered recently, FFXIV was the one ship they couldn't afford to let sink. I look forward to reading up on the state of their economics next year and seeing what an expansion's worth of content drought has done.
I wanted so desperately to be positive about the state of things. I wanted Endwalker to be the best of the expansions of Season 1, and instead this is where we are. All while I have to tolerate people who blast me for calling for a return to form. Not like they would bat an eye if things in Endwalker were more akin to how they were in the past - no one could possibly complain about having the wealth of content to do like in Stormblood or the coherence of any previous expansion prior to throwing in time travel and random anime plotlines at the last minute.

So the best bit of the live letter was that it means May 23rd we have peace from a major complainer? Yay! Who am I kidding we will get one more thread about how pandemonium went wrong etc etc. I wouldn’t bother looking into their economics next year because it will likely be 7.0 which will shoot it up more. Also I expect player retention to be higher from 6.4 and 6.5 and usually that’s when most come back due to the normal X.5 long haul gap before an expansion. If we don’t see this trend il be surprised but if we see the usual then sadly it doesn’t matter how much you dislike the direction it’s clearly doing well enough to keep the course.
I want changes but the way this forum has been lately has not been the way to get them, I swear if there are actual mods give them a mega thread to debate in and that will tidy up this forum section heavily.
Yeah, I agree with your point. Granted I wasn't expecting this live letter to change anything but a little nod would have been nice, such as, "We've been hearing people want more to the relic process and other systems and will be looking into that for future releases" would've been something.
I'm still waiting for Fan Fest. And regardless will get 7.0 because I support the graphics update. But I'm disenchanted for sure.
Bless! Let them insinuate anything they want when I've explained in my initial post that I don't agree with stuff! This is why the forums are ignored and should be burned.
On topic -
I think all we can do at this point is unsub, I mean the story was good ( For me ), but the content longevity is lacking this time around! I was very annoyed at SQ doing tomes 2x in a row for relics!
6.45 hasn't released yet tho, even though Yoshi has said stuff, it's not launched so no one knows what the next step is! Ppl are just working others up on this forum. Sad really.
At least you're not denying it...
Most players voice concerns/frustrations because they want to see a change. Not every poster is a troll nor should you label every poster as such. You can kinda filter them out just by reading. Like your lord and savior Naoki Yoshida said " The silent leave first ", unless that's your goal to silence players? power to you right.
All I want personally is my Kaiten back. Compared to what other players have been requesting? One button is not a lot, but also not the end of the world if I don't get it back. I personally had a lot more fun with it. Emphasis on " Personally ". Rather people resonate is irrelevant to me. Though I'm having a laugh meme-ing it a little.
Accusing others of hyperbolic hearsay without tackling the argument points or posts is quite dismissive. Hence it comes off as you just sucking off a Square i.e being a white knight. Or a company simp. Can I even say simp? ehh we'll find out. How did you put it... " Case and Point? ".
It was a stupid wish to expect acknowledgement in that regards because the patch work is done ages ago… you wouldn’t announce anything here. You would announce it at a fanfest or in interviews outside of it but to expect your issues to be addressed knowing this wasn’t going to happen just gave them a dumb reason to continue venting even though after ALL THESE YEARS knowing how they operate expected something out of the norm? Sigh
I don't think it's stupid for people in charge to acknowledge its customer base. If you read the statement you quoted correctly this doesn't mean they need to change actions now, it means it's something they will keep in mind. It's a live letter. You make it sounds like they recorded Yoshi P ages ago and just released the video.
Well at least I bring 1 topic to the thread regarding why the Live Letter should have mattered vs you bringing... Absolutely nothing cause all you're amounting to is telling others to stay silent only phrasing it differently every-time... oh while sucking up. But we don't kink shame in XIV, obviously.
The Live Letter has amount to my expectations ( minus 1 skill obviously ). Endwalker will remain equally as boring to me, aside from Island Sanctuary cause muh Housing!! The glamours feeling copy pastes aside from 1 Shiny Katana that I will probably effortlessly get. Then criterion glamour that looks worse then everything that can be obtained through mods, which you shouldn't use obviously against TOS. Hildebrand is not for me, and yay that's it?
But we get it? you're upset that you don't want your lovely God or company Square to take any critique. So you give it a break, about.. ugh... telling me and others to take a break? on it? ( obviously idk where we're going with this... )
Except, that's not how they do things. They will acknowledge they done something wrong last time when they bring the content up again. Look at Eureka. When they unveiled Pyros, they said then that they made questionable choices for Pagos, and so they are changing it for Pyros.
If you want them to say sorry for the relic grind, you will have to wait until the next time they specifically talked about it, in this case the LL for patch 6.45, which we now know is going to be at the NA Fan fest.
I don't know that I want them to say sorry TBH, after all it was impossible to know whether it was going to be well received or not, they've gotten plenty of hate for making people do things in this game. It's more like an acknowledgement they cut it down too much. But maybe they will then. Hopefully.
I'm honestly surprised that they're sticking with tomestones. I acknowledge they can't very well tie it to an exploratory zone that doesn't exist, but they can tie it to xyz activity with its own currency/materials to at least meet the relic enthusiasts halfway.
Welp, Pandaemonium looks like it’s going to end up on a very bad note…Not that it could ever end on a good note with how the MSQ of 6.0 was written. So glad this is my last patch.
Lol.
I lurk alot. I've seen you BEG for Kaiten.
