Nobody is asking you to, but you can't go around doing something that could stir up negativity and then turn around and wonder why all you see is negativity.
It means if you find yourself in a negative situation it changes how you view things. You're going to see negativity everywhere. Just like if you have a positive experience you're more likely to over look any negatives. As for the other: if you actively seek examples of negativity you're obviously going to find it.
Compared to the WoW forums, this is absolute bliss.
Around Shadowbringers's release, I stopped posting on the OF as regularly because of problems laid out in the OP and because SE just doesn't interact here. If I want fun stuff, I view Reddit- and I do so frequently.
I have never read a bad post by Renalt in the time I do occasionally return here. This place needs more people like that. I understand people want to have their problems heard by our mute moderators, but arguments here happen so often it's exhausting.
People are people. Good or bad, they're still people. The problem was people thinking their game somehow changed people's natures. Anyone, I don't care who they are can be pushed to be as toxic as they need to be to offend you.
Some people love this game and want to keep what makes this game great. Others want to see this great game burn for a variety of reasons. As long as these members exist. The official forums will always be a dumpster fire and no amount of discussing the matter will stop it.
I'm mainly here for the entertainment, but glad you're doing better Renalt. As for the topic, some people will be civil during a debate and some won't. Tis life.
My mother died as well, December 20th 2017 on a Wednesday in between the hours of 3pm to 6pm, she had MS and it finally killed her, way I got through her death was knowing she's in heaven not suffering anymore and when I die and go to heaven in the future I'll get to be with her again, so my condolences to you and your family for your loss and hopefully my story helps u in any small way.
Other then that, I have zero faith in humanity, or even in myself, only in Jesus have I felt my faith being put in a sustainable thing.
People are people, if there heart is in something they won't change unless a traumatic or super joyful event happens to them, facts we'll only use if it benefits us and we'll twist em to meet our liking that's my opinion on myself and my fellow man.
A time to love, a time to hate, a time to heal, a time to kill, and so on.
I didn't read 11 pages of replies but this forum is EXTREMELY small compared to other MMOs I have played, even ones with much smaller playerbases. If you read WoW's forums or even a smaller game like Warframe you will hardly see the same people posting twice (other than a few regular trolls). Here? Literally every post is one of the "usual suspects" (on any particular side of a viewpoint).
When you get small population samples like this, the people posting tend to be extremists in a general sense and so views are condensed right down to the far ends of each limit of the bell curve. Just picking numbers out of the air in somewhere like WoW you have 1% of the population posting and 99% ignoring the forums and that's already super concentrated for opinions, then you come here and its like 0.01% posting and 99.99% just playing the game. There is no way that is conducive to broad-based, population representative discourse, in fact I would pretty say every single OP in this forum holds extreme or generally unrepresentative views (regardless of topic or side).
To be fair, there is an actual shot (albeit extremely small) that a blue will respond to your topic if it is a worthwhile discussion on the WoW forums. I'd imagine the FF14 forums would be a bit more popular if there was any semblance of SE caring about our opinions at all here.
Uh huh. You see, it only takes 1 person to state a false and / or exaggerated statement to cause trouble.
You say some people want to see the game burn but can’t provide any proof or examples. It only takes 1 person believing your statement to start spreading this untruth. So I’d like proof that your claim is true. Otherwise you’re just telling a big fish if a tale for whatever reason
This thread is, um, kinda toxic. Can we just yeet it please? :^)
"The Official Forums is a bad community, just take a look at this toxic thread I made, it's a good example"
I don't necessarily disagree with your OP's premise but this thread's probably not a good example for your point seeing as you yourself made it and the premise of it's argument is inherently toxic lol
Well first you got to like and know the game... starting to how you put it that this MMO does that and this and whatever usually get people on the toes...because if you don't like the setting then why did one leave the MMO one used to play before FFXIV?
No community is perfect. Some ppl also get super upset at anyone who disagrees with them to the point they act like a cult with pitchforks. Best thing is to write your opinions and ignore anyone who tries to fight with you and only engage in actual discussions and debates. *shrug*
I feel that one of the biggest maladies of this forums (and that other big mmo's OF too) is the fact that some people can't accept that what other people enjoy is valid. Many of the threads are about suggestions "Can we have X to make the game better?" and a good bunch of those are related to cosmetic, and you still have people bringing arguments like "This is trash because I don't like it"... to an optional feature request.
It relates a lot of RL on how people can't just accept ways of living that are alien to their own, even when they wouldn't have any kind of relation to that person. It shouldn't, but still baffles me how this premise replicate within a game and its community.
honestly you cannot judge any games "community" from the forums.
such a low percentage of the player base posts, knows of or even cares that these exist. a lot of the posters in forums are usually unable to be at their home computers playing, and are stuck at work posting from their phones.
the great community that is referred to, is not looking at the forums at all... its looking at the people playing the game. and I would say, in that respect, its fairly accurate. the number of posters in the forum hardly represents a meaningful statistical number compared to the number of people playing.
I've always had the very firm opinion that the FF14 community in general is just not good, but yea the forum is like..nah.
That's just online games in general now a days. Late 90s-2010 was the prime time to play online games, now everyone just weaponizes the ToS. Back in the day everyone just called each other _____, ____, ___, or even _____ and then we all laughed and moved on. lol
If you really want to see a cesspool, go look in the FF14 Steam Discussions. They complain but SE don't moderate it.
The forum here is pretty tame compared to the Steam Discussions.
