I hate it all the time. Just saying. We have Miqote, don't need another "cute" race. Then again I suppose we have an equal amount right now.

If anything I would have preferred to see something that deliberately fit more, like an actual tribe of beastmen pre-existing either having been changed by magic, or intermingled with present races. Or a draconic type race.

A textbook case of the typical forum goer... They only see what they want to. Nothing else registers.

Guaranteed that if Viera aren't implemented, but something of the same general description given in the poll is in its place, you're going to see people saying things along the line of "WTF! SE doesn't listen to their players! They asked if we wanted Viera and the vast majority clearly did! But we didn't get them!"

Can't wait to see how it pans out.

Well perfect Miqo'te are in game we could see basicly what a mammalian demi-beastman would look like in the graphics for the game, we could see the type of model it would have been the perfect example, and there would be no bias to get Miqo'te in the game because its already there. The only logic for not choosing Miqo'te for the example is to hint its something they have been looking into, tell me one other reason they would not want to use an example in game so we know what it looks like.

Text book case of looking futher into it, logically they should have used Miqo'te as the example because its in game and for the reasons above, and Yoshi-P's wording in the letter seems to show it was a mistake adding that (possible leak) or something cheeky to add for discussion, to see what the community thought of the idea.

Why would they bring up a race that's already in-game as an option for a "new race" to be added? That would make absolutely no sense.

It would be like asking "what new types of mounts would you like to see in FFXIV? Large, bird-like creatures (Chocobos)?"

They mentioned Viera as a general example of the kind of race they're describing aside from Mi'qote.

You presume that they haven't already been added to the world. We don't know how much "lore time" from meteor hitting to 2.0 going live. So you can't say there is no way to put new races in for 2.0. Plus Yoshi is letting us change our characters come 2.0 and there would be no point to that if a few races weren't being added. I think we will have 2-3 new races to choose from. Meteor is going to unlock a whole new world... so why not make the most of it.

Because it shows what they mean thats all its about, if they use Miqo'te as an example of a mammalian demi-beastman (which is what they are) it would show us what they would look like in game (kind of) and it would show no bias, I personally think Viera would fit into the black shoud very well, however I would not mind seeing other types of mammalian demi-beastmen if the gave a place in the game.

The reason Mamalian demi-beastmen needs an example is because its not as obvious as to what exactly they mean as things like reptilian beastmen.

For all we know Mammalian demi-beastmen could be bunny ixali.

Also this leads me to believe it was snuck in as a kind of hint by Yoshi-P:

If it was an honest mistake I would expect something more like "This could have recived an unfair advantage because I used Viera as an example, I will moniter the forums to see what people say" rather than a quip about it being dropped in for some reason. Poll results are disappointing. I wanted something new like a demonic or lizard-type race, we already have 'mammillian demi-beastmen' in Mi'qote and I suspect if the word 'Viera' wasn't slapped on the end of it then it wouldn't have been nearly as popular, like Yoshi himself says.

I hope SE pulls an epic troll by making the mammalian demi-beastmen race not viera-like.

Completely true. People just like to take things to the absolute extremes... There can't ever be grey... only black or white. Really though, the player's poll gave everyone who chose to vote a voice. If you didn't vote you don't have any right to say anything. If you weren't part of the 27.3% I can understand being frustrated with losing. If you were part of the 27.3% did you really think anything OTHER than Viera?

Instead of causing drama about this, why not just be happy that the poll results are in and we have a clear winner. I really doubt SE is only going to add 1 race... We'll let 2.0 prove it one way or another but honestly stop with the insults.

I was kinda hoping for additional options for what we currently have, since alot of us look so similar. And i'll keep hoping we get some additional options. New races are great, for a minute...till theres only 3-4 good options on them, and every one looks similar....

Then we're right back to wanting a new race so we can look different...etc. Vicious circle. Yes i'm a Boring Hyur. I'll hope the new races we get are that good. But i also hope SE doesn't do what so many other games have. Make new races and leave the old in the dust. with no new options and out of date looks.

Everyone voted for what they wanted and if you didn't want something cute and fuzzy you should have tried to get the player base to vote for one or the others as is I would say the guys ended up splitting the vote so the girls win. And don't kid yourself Yoshi said it was interesting we voted for cute so we are getting something cute. I voted for Viera but wouldn't mind a wolf like person. It would kinda balance the cats. So we would have cats and dogs. Wolves are also more manly so that would take care of one argument.

Miqo's are sluts all of the miqo npc's in game act like sluts,Viera are a more proud, and elegant race who don't act like sluts...Would love for someone to show me a part in FF XII where Fran just whore her self out. I personally Voted for mixed races but I would love to see Viera cause Fran sister in FF XII was an beautiful char.

Really its about the players tho. Mithra in XI were portrayed as a proud warrior race and everyone played them as sex kittens. They may give us lore but that wont change the way ppl play their chars. Lil boys and guys who cant get any will always think its funny to play a t and a race like a whore. Its more annoying than anything but that's most likely why they are at home playing a sexy kitten instead of out with a real girl/boyfriend anyway.

Roegadyn are "wolf-like".

Sea Wolf is a bit obvious but Hellsguard is a bit trickier.

In some Hellsguard character models you'll notice they have black rimmed noses. Cerberus is also a three headed hound that guarded the entrance to Hades (the ancient Greek afterlife), hence "Hellsguard".

Lack of tails notwithstanding, we have "Catgirls" and "Dogmen".

Besides their quick rodent like movement speed I haven't seen anything to associate Lalafell with mice. The Qiqirn fill that role just fine, unless you want to distinguish rats from mice.

I'm all for the platypus.

I hope they do add Viera their HAWT!!

I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned Viera voices. I love their voices and accent; it added a richness of character to Fran in FFXII. Whatever race SE adds, I hope they can portray a depth of culture.

They should have done concept art and let us vote for ones we liked.

Also, I would prefer being able to customise running/walk, idle, emote animations than having new races. It would add more to individuality to be able to customise the characteristics of your character.
