Lets be honest here. Most of these botters arent so dumb to stream their TOS breach live that every GM can watch them doing so once they are receiving a report about this person ;P

I was kind of annoyed that there were still people in chat trying to be like "oh you can still run ACT in the background if they can't see it" or other mod/add-on suggestions. If he already disabled them and said he's going to stop using them, just drop it and move on.
So is Pyromancer a persona non grata now because he had a bad day and yelled at his viewers in an angry rant?
Is that what we are doing?
Sweet summer child, you poor people.
Thank you for all the (yous)!
My problem with Pyro is this isn't the first time he has done this. I was glad when he left the WoW space and thought that he would calm down a bit and be better but he has continued on course. I washed my hands of him after his little tirade about Evitel. I understand the forgiveness thing, but literally the thing that people were worried that another streamer would do he's doing all of it.
lol, what rank toxicity from you people.
Guy getting dunked on harder than SE dunking on streamers using addons
Probably before he get banned, he left the game first because he seems hate our community already. By belittling console players, he lost my interest to him :(
Third Party program use modifying game files. Most notably, the speech bubbles. Which iirc, is most notable in his video/stream where his FC did that play re-enacment or any of his FC costume contests, or any content where he types in-game and you see the chat bubbles come up. If thats the type of example you are looking for. I mean, in the example I just gave you someone had to come in and change some settings because his plugin wasn't working correctly for him to see chat bubbles in first person.
But, I need you to understand this because I think, you think, that I actually care.
I don't.
I just find it funny watching the same people who get mad at things like botting, or the PvP cheaters using map hacks, rush to defend <insert streamer> for the exact same ToS violation that those would fall under. All while demanding some level of protection and privelige for streamers. Even though the devs have said multiple times to please stop doing these things, using certain mods/plugins(hello nude poster thread from yesterday as an example) and etc. etc. blah, blah, I don't care.
Its hypocritical and hilarious.
The added boot that a number of you got so toxic and salty over streamers that you resorted to insults.
Whats that new forum meme:
Great Community, btw!
Thank you for attempting to categorize speech bubbles in the same vein as the other 3rd party tools that the overwhelming majority of the playerbase regularly denounces. In any case, wielding the ToS as a weapon against people you don’t like is still behavior that I’m not willing to put up with.
The FFXIV community already has a strained reputation for being insular and hostile to those who do not tow the line like everyone else, and this is just another example of that. The more takes I read that stem from this controversy the more I want to go off and play FFXI or single player titles because I have very limited patience for the kind of behavior that this situation has let out of the woodwork.
The Devs have always maintained the stance of "don't ask, don't tell." they cannot see what mods you have loaded up since they are client side and as long as you aren't openly showing it off, like on stream, then they don't care. When players start openly using mods, then they are forced to take action since they are technically against the ToS. Harassing and reporting people for using QoL mods for no other reason than to screw with them makes you a jerk. ( i want to say something much more colorful, but forum rules dictates i be civil.)
For real. I don't know what happened to the XIV community or where these people came from. I am from XI and have been in XIV since it's beginning and I just don't understand how we arrived here. Even in FFXI, damn near everyone used Windower. Nobody batted an eye at that plugin. It was the same secret handshake, "don't ask, don't tell." Streaming mods isn't a good move and will only bring attention to you, but the witch hunting and the desire to see people who use effing chat bubble mods or want to wear hats on their Vierras, screaching that they are cheaters and must be banned is gross. Like on a RL scale, y'all suck and need to really evaluate yourselves. Bots and Hacks can go to hell. We all agree on that, but let Tiffany77 wear a hat. Who cares?
This forum regularily wields the ToS as a weapon. It's part in parcel with posting on these forums. Thats why theres literally someone who says they would actually break the ToS for the forums to insult me if they knew they could get away with it and not be penalized, because they don't like that I want more chaos and whinging and shit flinging over, and of all things, QoL third part programs and streamers.
I don't get why people say that he advertises the game just by streaming it, and in the same breath say he doesn't advertise mods by using it while streaming. It's kind of a contradiction. That's the agreement on 3rd party tools, right? You don't talk about it, you don't use it for toxicity, you don't advertise it, SE won't enforce it so strictly, but you can't cry if you get caught because you know (and they already told you) it's against the rules.
And let's get this clear, people didn't get mad at him because of his stance on 3rd party tools/mods. People got mad at him because he berated people in his chat, and banned them for disagreeing with him. That only works for certain streamers' audience, and his audience is not one of them. He got a lot of people mad, and he got brigaded for it. The 3rd party stuff was just the ammunition Pyro gave those people to get him banned. He got brigaded, so you can't expect SE to put Pyro against probably at least dozens of reports and say to those reports, "Nah. This is all right."
They're more likely to get banned if they harassed players in game.
Still waiting for an explanation for how getting SE to enforce their own rules by reporting someone for breaking said rules is witch hunting.
Some galactic levels of mental gymnastics going on here.
heres the thing, i dont know much about pyromancer outside of a 15 sec clip
but im not stupid enough to think going "i hope the person i dislike gets banned for any reason" is caring about tos
brigading and mass reporting isnt going to keep "the bad people" out, its going to give this game a bad name and make other mmo communities think we're crazy
reporting pyro for having shinier buttons to press and having (afaik) anger issues is not the win you think its going to be.
From Meriam-Webster:
"the searching out and deliberate harassment of those (such as political opponents) with unpopular views"
It's specifically the harassment and seeking behavior that turns something into a Witch Hunt, not whether or not the person is right or wrong.
It's not an unpopular view he's breaking the tos and flaunting it on stream. That isn't a point of view it's breaking the rules. I can see if he was just making and spouting things that people don't like in some of the vids i've watched of him lately (cursing at his viewers and banning them) and if people are mass reporting him for that well ok that may be a witch hunt.
Expressions that attempt to unilaterally exclude someone from the game or content/community, etc.
The same form of how players used to mass report people to remove them during large scale pvp to get an advantage.
The most, vague listing that is almost impossible to pin point unless there's an active movement of multiple people insisting on it and still questionable.
It'd be concrete if they obstructed play by personally interrupting pyromancer.
I guess 5chan making easy report templates for people to target various western streamers with regardless of whether they were actually fluent in English or not doesn't quite qualify as a "witch hunt", but targeted reporting more for the hell of it then any kind of genuine disdain is scummy in its own right.
In no way defending Pyro, but its how the situation unfolded. 5ch(after berating TPS for not winning) got heated on Neverlands win and sodium levels rose rapidly. After a while Official FF XiV came out with that backhanded congrats and went into the 3rd party program post. After that 4/5 chan started looking for easy targets to get and someone came into the crosshair.
This thread is full of the type of people that would call the police if they smelled their neighbor smoking a joint.
Absolute mega-karen levels of boot enjoyment, and I say that as someone who has been extremely critical of Pyro's silly attempt at martyrdom. No one should EVER condone mass harassment of someone, especially over something as petty as cosmetic video game mods.
Because it is obvious to everyone that people are ganging up on people like Pyro because they just don't like them for their attitude/personality, and these same people are likely also guilty of their own infractions of the ToS. In any case something as benign as chat bubbles should probably be an in-game feature/toggleable option by now anyway, so once it becomes a feature it would make reporting someone for having them now all the more ridiculous.
Both Pyro and Preach have since stopped using mods. Retroactively punish them if you wish, but don't expect my sympathy for when others go on to criticize the way in which the FFXIV community behaves. This kind of heavy-handedness over something so minor isn't a good look. I'd rather not deal with a community of individuals who are ready to attack each other over stuff like this. I don't come to this game to deal with people who'd find any reason to go after me the minute I do or say something they don't like.
To this day I refuse to display my main character on here or on social media especially because of the sort of individuals pushing for bans over these sorts of things, as if they are supposed to be free of all wrongdoings themselves. Like I said earlier, there's no point in telling these people to look in the mirror because they believe themselves to be in the right. No one wants to be part of a community where they feel they have to be walking on eggshells all the time, but sadly that is what the FFXIV community feels like in times like this.
I won't care if Pyro gets banned or not, he is a shitty person in general and extremely abusive to his audience if they don't agree with him. happened many times and every time he comes with an excuse that he will improve himself, his die hard fans fall for it, it is like an abusive relationship that beats the wife and then says: "I'm sorry, I will improve myself." and the beaten wife falls for it.
