Viera Race "Confirmed" for 5.0! Are you gonna change races?

I was never a big fan of tall races I think Elezen are stunning but the run and long neck is very off putting :( I would have preferred more customisation options or a race like Hilda. I will give it a go I am sure. I hope there is two options to keep most happy ^O^

I can also see a reasoning for us to go to the Viera's home in 5.0, too since the Garlean Empire still occupies Ivalice they probably would have tried sealing of the Viera's Forest completely from the outside world and make frequent attempts to penetrate it in order to gain whatever secrets lie hidden within it.

The Feol could easily be byproducts of what Viera that were captured/ by making an attempt to leave their forest home at one point or another for whatever reasons they had and cross breeding with the Garleans as a result, producing the diluted clan Feol that the Pure Blood Viera despise so much because of their Garlean heritage! Sorry if all my ramblings and such don't make any sense. It's late here and my brain is trying to fall asleep. XD

by "never had a chance to complete FFXII" do you mean story or complete it like 100% content? Because altough the ending is not your typical cute FF ending, it is still deff worth experience it :) things get pretty crazy towards the end!

Probably not, I did with Au Ra and only regretted it. I've grown to attached to my character design. I'll make an alt one to play around with though.

I will stay Miqo'te :) No interest in Viera.

I will only switch if they also add the small version. I am pretty sure the tall version will be added, but it would be a glorious gift from god if they added the short one as the second clan. I know people will hate them but as of right now we only have lalafell to pick if we want the short race. They would actually add more variety than the tall viera which are most likely going to be altered bunny miqote.

For me, it'll kinda depend on what their running animation looks like.

If Viera ladies are like 7' tall(without the ears) and have a muscle slider then maybe.

If they're just another "Normal human with animal parts" like Miqo'te and Au ra, then no.

Probably not, I'm so cute as a Lalafell I can't imagine myself go bunny mode.

But.

If they are cute enough I'm so going to remplace every one of my au ra staff in my house to Viera for the sake of ultimate cute-nest.

If they are as ugly as FFXII vieras its a no go at all for me.

I'll check the possibilities in the benchmark for shadowbringer first, and if I like the result, sure, else, I'll stick to roe, just hop it'll be a tall fran kind of bunny race

All races have two tribes, but hyur are the most distinctly different. I'll be curious if they actually do give us distinct tribes and not just "dawn bunnies have pinkish ear linings and dusk bunnies have orangeish ear linings".

If they have basically the same frame as cats or lizards but have a muscle slider and better run/idle/sit animations, I will probably switch.

What if we get both Veria? Tall amd fierce with shorter males as one tribe, both genders shory and cutesy as the other?

I'm pretty sure any race added to game will have to take on the 'humanoid' appearance like the other races in order to be viable for all the current gear in the game. So I'm pretty sure that's exactly what you're going to get.

For me, I would sooner start up an alt than drastically alter my character's appearance. Once the MSQ had someone say, "Hey! It's that Hyur bitch." I was locked in.

Maybe, depends what they look like. I'd love a fierce muscular bunny. I would have been an au ra tbh but I hate how gangly the males look, so hopefully the Viera will be more graceful.

I mean I'll be honest. If they have loli Viera I'll switch, otherwise probably not.

Part of me is concerned if it is indeed the "last race" they'll be adding, but on the other hand we already have about what other MMOs have in regards to playable races. WoW sorta takes the cake in every way there because there is 2 factions. We just need better customization options at this point.

I want to know more about how they will implement this first.

My hope is we see two "clans", one being like the Feol, and the other (which I would probably play), being the Viera as they appeared in XII. I would not play the race if it is gender-locked, and I hope they refrain from tiny male Viera. A two clan split would better accomplish a size differential.

I don't put much stock in his "last" race claim, since 1) this is SE we're talking about, they do this all the time and 2) what better way to add to the hype when another race appears in a future expansion (or if the two races claim was true)?

Fully agree!

I wish they'd done something similar to this with Au ra - i.e. the Raen as they are now (just maybe with a bigger upper limit on the height slider for females so they can reach highlander female height), and the Xaela a bit more monstrous, closer to the original art.

I can not wait they give us the official art ( I know they did 2 few years ago but maybe new arts) ! And screenshots in game version =D

Well, Fran is 6'2 (excluding ears), so she's still shorter than the shortest Roegadyn female.

Honestly, that's exactly what I'm expecting. While I am not a fan of Viera at all, I do hope they're at least given the same treatment the Nu Mou are given (look unique. I also hope they're closer to their TA design and really hope they don't have the 'clearly children' design).

Something that i also would like is a reedition of the other races. Personally, Sun kitties should be like Highlanders: bigger and with more muscles, with males looking like motherfucking lions; meanwhile moon kitties should have males as they are right now and bigger females. That would be an actual difference between tribes.

Elves should also have bigger differences, something similar to the High Elves, Wood Elves and Dark Elves from The Elder Scrolls. That would be cool.

im doing it again actually, started a couple of months ago a new game. Would be cool to know what you think of it as you get closer to the end :P

If we get the cool fran variant, I've got an alt waiting for a fantasia.
If we get moetrash, this alt will eat viera.

I hope the "small males, tall females" theory is right since I'd like to seem them pull that off.
Also because I want the art for one of the new jobs just to be a tiny Viera dude with a big-ass gunblade.

It's exciting and I will definitely change. I am more confident in the developers being faithful and skilled than I am in a design that would come out of a community poll. Some people have highly exaggerated imaginations or remember things differently.

Even very tall Viera if you go by the official numbers will only be as tall as highlanders otherwise it will be unique to FFXIV only because elezen and roes are taller. If they don't have heels they might be shorter but I think they will have heels. Roes are just extremely tall and even Fran's full height with heels and the full length of her ears is still shorter than most roes. Roes are just that huge. If they change it so viera are taller then it will definitely be unique to FFXIV only.

Two clans with different height range and color palette would be nice too, they have a couple of clan names already besides veena and rava, feol was destroyed but it's a good concept that should get renamed unless they have Feolthanos as an enemy in the new expansion.

I prefer the cuter concept art because it looks much closer to the original in FFTA and FFTA2, more faithful to their slight but nimble build with typical jobs like archer, assassin, summoner, green mage, spellblade, and in FFTS onion knight and dancer. The nu mou seemed closer to the adorable original art with the protruding snout, droopy eyes and comfy robes, so what they do with the rest of the Ivalice inspired art direction is anyone's guess really. Whether they call a village area Muscadet, Eruyt, or something new I don't think it matters too much really.

If the viera hint was an elaborate hoax then playing as a FFT/FFTA moogle is fine too.
