Housing restrictions not fair for individuals.

Wow, the self entitlement of everyone crying for fc's needing a house is real... Just because there are added bonuses to a fc owning a house absolutely does NOT make their plight any more of a need than an individual wanting a home. It doesn't matter how anyone tries to argue that a home for and fc is a neccesity, in the end you're just like anyone else wanting a house because you WANT one. If anyone truly needed a house then it would have been implemented into the game from the start, so stop trying to make up excuses on why you deserve something more than another player just because you're still salty over others beating you to the punch in the past.

The fact still remains that individuals being restricted and forced to wait for the scraps is simply garbage and unnecessary and should have never been a thing.

It's all fine and well to say that without considering the fact that fcs and private owners don't get equal use from one plot.

Active fcs get significantly more use out of one plot than a private owner.

In your case you are being selfish. You already have a private home and you're QQing on behalf of your husband who doesn't have one. Why do you need one each? Why can't you share the same plot? Also when are you going to tell us why you can't share your house with your husband?

I already share my house with my husband and my brother, but he likes to decorate houses, and he doesn't like my chocobo insanity design. And I won't let him change the chocobo-ness of my house, because chocobos are cool. Also, we'd like more gardening plots.

While I don't want to blame the lady for wanting separate house away from her husband, but I am just baffled to see players blaming each other for developers poorly handling this for 4 years. I am not sure why the community needs to have this kind of drama for something that they are obviously doing wrong.

Basically you two haven't learned how to share properly. So your solution is to try to delegitimise fcs rights to plots instead of coming to a compromise.

There are players with NO access to any kind of housing at all. Those players I understand, I was one of them before. But you and your husband I have no pity for. Your conflicting tastes do not give you a right to imply a homeless fc is less deserving of a plot than an individual who already has access to a house.

Wards were only expanded today, not at patch. And they clearly said that when they were going to open, plots were going to be only available for existing owner relocation and new FC purchases. Individual purchases will be available at a later time that is not yet determined.

Well below you failed to acknowledge that a huge amount of legit fcs benefited from the new system. You said the people who really benefited are house flippers and made zero mention of any other kind of buyer.

I get why everyone wants their own house, but if you want SE to pity individual players then QQing on behalf of someone who already has access to a private house probably isn't the most convincing route. The real victims here are individuals with zero access to housing, and fcs whose potential plots were bought up by the likes of that awful group on Ragnarok. Not your husband.

The problem is the last time this happened, 80% of all plots went to individuals. So the sliding scale was massively in favor of individuals. This time it was FCs, who factually have more to gain for buying a house. That's just fact, regardless of your opinion.

The opening of more housing to give one to everyone isn't a reality in FFXIV, so where's the line?

Not on my server. Cactuar has never really had a big house-flipping market from what I’ve gathered in the 2+ years I’ve been on this server. In the Lavender Beds, most of the new Larges went to FCs, not individuals (though there were some that relocated to Larges, but that was bound to happen anyways unless they blocked personal relocation to Larges outright), and all the mediums in the Beds just recently sold—and I’m talking in the last hour or so, it seems. So, why should these people have priority over individuals? They are just individuals using the FC system to get their houses, to by-pass the restrictions up.

Maybe those individuals would actually rather play solo in their own fc, than be in an fc with a lot of other people. Social anxiety is a thing that exists. Now I'm not saying they're definitely not flippers, because I'm sure there are some. But there are some folks out there that just want to keep to themselves.

And they are in the wrong for doing so circumventing the system. But single person FCs or FCs who bought to flip do not negate the benefit that legitimate FCs got from the new policy.

Upgrading a personal house doesn't lock an FC out of getting a house at all. If someone relocates, a free plot is left behind, there is still the same amount of free plots as before the relocation.

I still do not understand how they made it possible for the owners who already have houses to move, change smaller ones for more, choose a new place, while those who do not have nothing, and sit with nothing. Also manually process the process for the individual. I also think that they acted dishonestly.

Upon implementation, the housing ward system was for FCs only.

Personal housing was promised to be a seperate system, and cheaper than FC housing.
Kind of like how apartments are now.

But instead of developing the seperate system, they let individual players purchase FC houses.
And that decision has shaped the housing system into what it is now, controversy and all.

Had the apartment system been introduced way back then, we would have had years of iteration on the apartments and wards.
And we would likely be in a better place.

We have no clue how SE dictates which project gets how much of the pie, all but expecting a revamp of the housing system outside of an expansion is placing unreasonable expectations on the company. Even then I do not think they feel a total housing revamp would be the best move if their budget is as tight as it seems. Their focus might be on on adding new content instead of fixing old content.

Then they should take it out of the game, add the functions to the FC menus and make housing available behind a paywall. That would solve all the problems. Stop penalising players because they believe the shite that SE pumps out.

And this my friend is what or comes down to, there is no way they are limited (by hardware) on making new wards.. The issue is what are they going to cut back on to fix it? Housing has been a problem for ever but I imagine they would rather bandaid the housing issues than release a patch without new dungeons and everything else. They might lose players if they aren't pumping out content.

Also it's sad to see so much hatred in the FFXIV community over this, there are so many players out there like me who want to see FCs AND individuals have homes. Instanced housing would ruin the best part about housing which is the community aspect.

I don't hate FCs leaders for wanting the best for their guild, and I don't find individuals wanting their own home "entitled and greedy". The only way to get this fixed once and for all is for everyone to come TOGETHER reguardless of their views on housing and say "We want this taken care of, it's important to us".

Instanced housing would not ruin the community aspect but instead be more of an actual fix to the problem.
I can count on one hand how many times i have actually seen people being social in the housing areas...
SE still have that mindset of "community" and until they do and still do not realize that it is not as social as they figured we will always have housing shortages and players with no change of even getting a house

I imagine you must be on a server that doesn't focus on things like that. Here on Famfrit I can't tell you how many times I've been invited to people's homes, been to house parties, and worked with other FCs on projects and Holiday Events. All of this without actually having a home in the area.

I assure you my friend the community is there if you look for it :)

Well ever since housing was introduced i have yet to see activity, it may be server but i am sure other servers are the same.
It is nice however if you and your server actually socialize :)

The thing is it doesn't happen without some effort. You would be surprised how many people show up if you just send a letter to everyone announcing a neighborhood party in a month or so.

The issue here (I suspect) is that they would rather keep piling on new content before fixing the game. I believe their limitation isnt hardware related, its labor related.

Look at a game like League of Legends for example who shared this mindset of "Every patch we need to add more!"

After a while the game was unbalanced, hit boxes for abilities went unfixed, and the game suffered from FPS issues. They fixed all of this without upgrading any hardware, they stopped releasing content for a little bit and said "Guys, we need to fix this"

I'm no programmer, but FFXIV does have a lot of underlying 1.0 coding that the developers are slowly trying to get rid of. That alone would probably cause problems, especially if the Wards had their own ties to that 1.0 coding. They may not have been a thing until 2.x, but ARR was founded on Legacy FFXIV's coding. If they don't have the labor to dedicate a lot of time to removing and reworking that code, these fixes may very well not be possible. SE is the one who would have to allocate more money and resources into FFXIV development; you'd have to make the Big Wigs see if it's worth the investment or not.

That's exactly right. They could go back and fix everything (which would be a chore) and appease the community without having to hire more workers. Problem is we wouldn't see new content for a while, good luck having that approved by the SE overlords. I don't think the chunk of players who don't care about housing would be very happy either.

I think we're getting close to having it under control with a few more wards being added and having harsher penalties for abuse which is in part a large problem that needs to be reworked.

Of course instanced housing would be a fix. But it's also clearly not the direction the game wants to go with housing.

This change was not meant to be "fair" to individuals as it was designed to allow FCs time to purchase/relocate so they can access things which are GATED (airship, gardens, etc) unless you own a house.

Individuals have been monopolizing the housing market for years and this couldn't have happened soon enough.

I honestly do like your optmism HoloKraft but let's be honest just adding wards like they keep doing is not working. I understand you like the community feel but that's why i suggested hundreds of times a mix of instanced and non instanced housing.
This would be far more fair then what we have now.

I totally agree with this, I understand that FC’s get the priority and all but keep in mind that some people are slick enough to just easily make alts and create an FC, rank it up to 6 and bam, they can get a house that way. I have been playing this game for almost 2 years and yet I still have no house, it’s not like we play this game for “Free” to not be able to enjoy the full privileges “equally”. Yes, there’s A LOT to do in this game, but having to constantly wait and yet shatter the dreams of having a house by pull shit like this by SE is just fucked up. It’s an middle finger in your face as tho “oh we have plots but NO you can’t buy them.” How does this helping anyone really? Oh and not to mention of promising us player to accommodate 1 mil players and I did my calculation, 66 servers, 4320 plots per server and you do the math of how many houses available? That’s not even close to a 1 mil. There goes another empty promises that SE that tries to pull. Adding “6” wards ain’t enough.

I apologize for assuming you have no understanding how business and server management work.

Thing about LoL they can go cycles without adding new content since the core game is the main aspect most people enjoy. FFXIV is a theme park MMO going a few patches without content while they fix things will be a hard sell for the big wigs and many players. I mean people already complain during the lull patches. Not sure this community is patient enough to handle such a change.

in my server there is a person who created 2 separate characters and made a fc with the same name and bought a med and large house in the same ward just so they could have a house i am guessing they did this before the update and already had the houses because i think one house per world is in effect now but that is the kind of stuff that isn't right, me personally i do not agree with SE methods on handling this situation but there is nothing WE can do about it but sit back and watch the chaos!!
