Lore Book Revelations

The Leveva thing may still be ok except for the bit about her mother? Possibly? The quest says her mother and grandfather are used against her yes. At one point Sevestre says "You would not believe how long I have been searching for that document. The last one that connected me to your father's...unfortunate accident. I tracked down and had all the others destroyed. But this one has eluded me for almost two decades."

Almost being the keyword if Sevestre has been trying to find it for say 13-16 years.

I'm not sure that pronouns have anything to do with it, either. Urianger pretty much straight-up asserted that Nael was a male and not a female in the non-cutscene dialogues following Turn 9, and even went on to speculate that Turn 9's female Nael may have been been constructed from the memory of some woman contained within Nael's memories when Bahamut rebuilt him.

However, all this was speculation on Urianger's part. He knew Nael was a man because the Garleans knew that Nael was a man - and this lore book entry asserts that the Garleans knew Nael was a man because Eula had tricked them! There's no inconsistency; it was entirely reasonable for Urianger to believe what he did. And, because of his speculation, Eula's masquerade will likely remain intact in perpetuity. For us as players, though, it finally solves the mystery of, "Who was that woman that Nael was rebuilt as?" Answer: It was Eula, Nael's sister - and there was no rebuilding. Nael was Eula in disguise all along.

Honestly, this answers things satisfactorily for me. Especially now that I know the whole gender bender was created due to a miscommunication between developers. XD

Well technically there was rebuilding cause her body was vaporized by the calamity and Bahamut made her a new one. She even recongnized the body as not her own. But it looked exactly like her original one.

So, the lore book was released but as a pre order that will be shipped 12/27/2017. Did they run out of the first batch or did they intended for the first batch to be released next year?

The store page itself says the release date is today. Maybe that's a dummy date? Even if they needed to do another printing there's no way it'd take over a year!

I see today as a release date, yet it's listed a pre-order and says the date is subject to change. I pre-ordered it asap, but my order confirmation doesn't list a ship date.

My understanding: We are at the source, there are 13 shards, both the source and the shards have seven hells and seven heavens (bringing the total number of afterlifes to 182) and the aetheric sea around them.

Also is there anything on Rowena besides mentions of the House of Splendors here and there? Do we finally learn what she's doing?

Also is there something new for Yugiri? Full name or her actual position back when Doma was still around?

It was Ratatoskr herself that told Thordan about dragon's Eyes being the source of their power, here I thought that in the 200+ years man have lived in peace with them that they kinda figured it out on their own ... or an Ascien told them. Much like the legend she's based off, Ratatoskr would travel from place to place to give news/ speak with her siblings.

Geeze. Glad I ordered this on my work PC and didn't wait to get home. I ordered my copy 22 minutes after it went up, and it apparently sold out less than 10 minutes later.

My delivery status now says "Shipping". Too bad I gotta wait 5-10 days with SE's "cheap" shipping option. At least I'm actually getting a copy.

Roflmao, that definitely made my day. I guess I will end up in the backlog of orders like everyone else who couldn't log into the site during the initial window. Not surprised it sold out tbh, this book is a lore nerd's dream, and I highly suspect the number of lurking lore nerds far outweighs the number of regular posters.

This might just be my favorite bit out of the Lore Book thus far. And props to the animation team since I swore I picked up on something in the cutscene after the fight against them.

Taken together, this implies that Garlemald didn't make a play for Othard until after all of Ilsabard's nations were conquered, and since Dalmasca was taken before that, it's not a stretch to assume it was among them. There's kind of room for ambiguity in there - after all, taking Dalmasca apparently required airships, and could have always been an early foray into Othard before committing to a full campaign - so I cheated and skipped ahead to the proper Garlemald section, and lo and behold:

Now, I initially assumed the same as you because of this Gamer Escape interview that explicitly states Rabanastre as being in Othard, and then says "There’s also a line in the Japanese version where they name-drop Dalmasss—<throat clearing>." The implication I took from it was that Dalmasca was also in Othard, but it seems that's not the case and Koji was conflating them on being FFXII references, rather than geographic neighbours.

I keep thinking the two would need to be late 30s to 40 years old considering Minfillia was a little girl in 1.0's flashbacks with both Thancred and F'lhaminn being young adults there. Unless Mini was like 18 when she founded the Circle of Knowing, something feels off.

Krile thought Thancred was romantically interested in Minfillia, only for Thancred to end up being a father figure to her.... Even though he couldn't be but 5-10 years her senior.

The same goes with F'lhaminn, who is her adoptive mother, but F'lhaminn is cast as this sweet, matronly lady now, verses Thancred who is just a rugged version of his 1.0 kid-self.

Thancred is 32, and F'lhaminn 37.

Minfilia was 20 when she founded the Path of the Twelve in 1570. Louisoix formed the Circle of Knowing 8 years prior to that.

One part that gave me a double take is the section where it says 'The hands of time ever stopped at 20 and 3' makes it sound like Y'shtola doesn't age anymore.

I am also curious about Yda's actual age. She arrived as a refugee in Shalayan 20 years prior after having travelled their from Ala Mhigo. Since it seems to imply she was old enough to forage, she would have to be around 30 at least.

Yda's seems to be the only age being deliberately obscured. Most curious, isn't it?

(Near as I can tell, her age is not given in any part of the book.)

32 seems to be the magic age for men in this game, as Thancred, Aymeric, and Estinien are all 32. Weird!

Poor Thancred! Minifillia thanked him for loving her in place of her father when he's only a few years older than her! No wonder Krile assumed it was romantic instead of paternal affection.

Although I do agree that the naming scheme implies a connection of some kind, I don't know that it implies they're outright DESCENDANTS of dragons. It would also contradict everything we know (and everything in the book) regarding dragon life cycles and reproduction, and that's aside from it having been nixed by Koji Fox in a past interview/thread (that I conveniently can't find at the moment) where it was said that they decided against a draconic connection due to them appearing in an Ishgard expansion. Nah, I'd need more evidence than an apparent conflation of Bahamut and Tiamat with the Dawn Father and Dawn Mother of Auri myth to consider them anything more special than the other 5 Races.

Both him and F'lhaminn felt an amount of guilt over her fathers death. For Thancred it was because he felt if he hadn't been distracted flirting he would have seen what was happening before it happened. For F'lhaminn it was because she was actually involved in the incident though she and her collaborators never intended anyone to die.

I always felt it was probably more of an older brother kind of connection.

It's very interesting to me what with the 4.0 trailer, that Yda's age is not defined.

Also, Yda (and her sister) are possibly 2 of only 3 Ala Mhigans with blue eyes. Especially blondeish blue eyes.

This confused me as well-- as in the Garlean section, it is implied to be a part of Ilsabard but in the 'Othard' section, it states that after the advent of airship technology, this opened the metaphorical doors to the Far East, a region that had been isolated up until that point-- and that the Garleans then set their sights on Doma and Dalmasca as a result.

So if the timeline from the other section is correct, could Dalmasca have been conquered before all of Ilsabard had been claimed?

Regarding the topic of Light derived voidsent that was discussed a while back. I don't think a void of light would just be nothingness, but I think it would be warped to the aspects of perfection and stuff like that. I think a great example actually and what I hope one would look like is "Sea" from XI. The Aerns specifically look like malevolent angels and all the other mobs there have weird alien forms.
