That girl was already mentioned by Yoshi-P to be a important NPC for the 4.0 Main Scenario. Who she is will be revealed soon in 3.X as we will be meeting her sometime in 3.X Era which probably means in 3.5 Main Scenario.

I'm wondering if the woman is just the female representation of the WoL and nothing else. FFXIV does have a large female audience, and more than a few games have attempted to showcase that. Mass Effect comes to mind.
Because horizontal always works out so well. People never min/max or make guides on optimizing your classes/gear/etc. FFXI also didn't have sub-classes that were flatout deemed worthless.
Just gotta get this out there. To all those people who are flat out adamant that that is the dancer class in the trailer, why in the world did Yoshi not announce it during the keynote? That logic makes no sense whatsoever. That and she's using monk moves in the trailer, and the slashing seen in it could very well be the slashing you see during the dragon kick or demolish animation.
Also:
When Gundobald approached Yda and mentioned her role in the resistance long before she joined the circle in 3.4, goes to show that she will play a key role in 3.5 and in 4.0. Though reading the posts about the lore book...the person we have known as Yda all this time may very well be someone pretending to be her. Either way, I don't think we should dismiss the possibility of that being her in the trailer. Yda is a Pug, and if you remember at the end of 2.5 it showed her mask break a little and reveal a blue eye. I'd say it's her or this sister of hers. The tattoo mucks things up a bit, but this isn't the first time they messed up a trailer, aka 3.0
I kinda hope that this person is not Yda but her sister and this is why they look so similar and yet behave different. Like the fighting style would be nothing that I would connect to Yda. Either way nearly all people believe that this is Yda so why should they hide her neck marks? I mean if its really her, do they really believe that we wont notice the similarity? Wouldn't the plot twist in 3.5 not be really a plot twist if its truly her, since we all are already believing so anyway? It would be way better if we are all meant to believe that its her only to have it shown that its not.
I am also not sure why the myth that the WoL is in truth the WoD in the trailer really hangs around so much. We already know that it was the wrong dragon in the HW trailer thanks to a mistake SE made and we already go through everything that the WoL in the video goes through. Why should they show trailers that are used for marketing with the wrong WoL? It doesnt really make much sense. Maybe thats the reason why the WoL now looks much different in this trailer. So that people can stop being confused about him being the WoD.
During Fanfest after things were finished it's confirmed 2 Monks were fighting. Also in the lore book it says Yda has a sister so chances are the female in the teaser trailer is Yda sister.
My hype has been through the roof all day long. I've lost track of how many times I've rewatched the teaser.
Yes, Yda fought as a monk but has everyone forgot about Thancred? He didn't duel wield those daggers till ninja was released. So dancer is a possibility. Red mage confirmed no doubt, but I wouldnt rule out dancer just yet. To me the trailer looked like a monk and dancer sparring.
If, as people say, we "will meet her" that means we have not met her yet. Since we've already met Yda, that suggests that those wanting her to be Yda are setting themselves up for disappointment : its not her.
He didn't announce it then because they are only teasing the new jobs right now. People being 100% convinced that she is a Dancer (I think there's a chance, but I'm not 100% convinced either way yet) really has nothing to do with whether or not Yoshi-P announced it at the Keynote.
Also, the slashing is definitely not tied to Dragon Kick or Demolish, as she uses a weighted piece of cloth, which is not part of the Monk arsenal. So far, that is unique to her. It could be a future Monk attack, or it could be a Dancer thing (and her style overall does trend more toward flowing graceful movements than her Monk compatriot, though that could certainly be for stylistic reasons for the trailer only as much as it could be a tease of a new job).
I would take a bet that it was Yda having a sparring match with Derplander. As things goes she has the same eye and hair colour as yda and same job and to top it off we have never seen her unmasked. There was also a hint that someone recognized her in Ala Mhigo at the near last scene of 3.4 so its a very strong possibility its her. As for the tattoo's its possible it was either a mistake either unintentionally or deliberately so as to keep people guessing to the reveal in 3.5.
I'm with Miles here. Why would you want this? We don't even know who this person is, if it's Yda or her sister or someone who isn't related to Yda at all, and you want to kill her/want her to die? Just because?
And it's quite clear from the trailer that, whoever she is, she and Derplander aren't enemies, nor are they actually trying to kill/injure/main one another.
