Ramuh doesn't reference as warriors of light or bringing a party with you he only says Bringer of Light meaning just you. It's a trial for you alone as the Bringer of Light trying to make peace between the sylphs and gridanians. People were only there because its a MMO.

She's not a White Mage, she's a Conjurer.
And being a Sharlayan scholar (No, not the job), she might have more knowledge on spells, maybe even lost, forbidden or even own-invented spells or whatnot.

Having limitations, and even weaknesses is OKAY, it's what fleshes a character out. But those weaknesses have to make sense, and align with the story, not shoehorned in as a poor disguise because Square is either lazy or doesn't want to infract on headcanon. It was poorly thought-out to hype our characters like they have if they are going to portray them use helpless in scenes like this. It pulls everyone from their immersion, because it's such a blatant eyesore to anyone paying attention to the story.

The hero didn't confront the derplander, it's the other way around; the derplander confronted us. We as the hero could have been replaced with a goat, and had as much of an impact in that scene as we did. It's gotten to the point where it's almost embarrassing to watch.

Perhaps it's something we learn to live with, but Square isn't making it easy with scenes like this. At least break the scene and allow us to fight briefly against them with Y'shtola, Alph, and Krile. Give us SOME sort of interaction. That whole entire scene was just so poorly orchestrated that threads like this were BOUND to begin popping up on the forums.

We've always been involved in the story as this mighty hero, I find that people are being kind of whiny that they never look very cool in cutscenes when you look cool fighting evil things outside cutscenes, which is most of the game. It's a matter of inconsistent depiction. In the same vein of Bismack, you had an entire party with your on your little floating island. Praetorium and other instances (steps of faith off the top of my head) directly refers to you getting an elite group of adventurers, greg acknowledges "fighting all eight of you...". Even in the likes of Ifrit normal when you got captured, the NPCs practically handweave that you can still escape from capture and (paraphrasing) "come back with a group of companions", all of which at the bare minimum would have at least possessed the echo to be able to resist being tempered.

It's not out of the question that there are multiple people who are blessed with the echo, let alone being a chosen of Hyadelyn (since Y'sayle is one herself). The other explaination is that there is a singular warrior of light, and the player character is reliving their experiences through the echo.

That's sort of the thing, even if you are the one that dealt the finishing blow on Lahabrea or the likes (solidifying that you are the warrior of the light), every other circumstance behind it (such as praetorium in general) is done with a band of people. The player character isn't doing the entirety of the encounters by themselves, but were involved, if not the most prominent figure during those encounters. It calls onto the question on just how powerful the player characters are by themselves, because at times while you are clearly leading the charge, and if not being the only one involved in some encounters, the background behind it is that you had still gathered a group of people together to accomplish such tasks.

We could ignore the handweaves at times where the story and npcs refer to you gathering a band of people together, but it still becomes a reoccuring inconsitency to the story. My point is that our player characters isn't straight up soloing everything, but are infact still can be the individual that is referred to as the warrior of light, they're not exclusive from each other. My point is also that there can be multiple people who possess the echo as well as people who are blessed/chosen by Hyadelyn, not just the player character.

Pretty easily because basically ALL of the animations already exist.

Creating a basic scene of a lancer or a monk or what ever swinging their thing around without much pizazz wouldn't exactly be difficult.

Part of the WoL's canonical power is attracting the right people, too. Your nation's leader chose you to be an envoy because they sensed that spark. You getting involved with the Scions as early as level 17, when you're still a weakling, is destiny turning its wheels. The story builds it up such that the WoL makes the connections and has greatness thrust upon them in a way that nobody else can.

In 1.0, the Path of the Twelve was Minfilia's organization, where everyone had The Echo. Presumably, most of them were killed during the Calamity, or went into hiding, or were later killed by the Garleans when Waking Sands was attacked. But the echo, while uncommon, is not super incredibly rare.

I could have sworn that in the Prae, the opening cut scene was you flying on the airship with your party. I believe with the exception of the primal fights, the NPCs usually say "gather your comrades and go forth." Even for the primals, it's always a stretch me to think we did it by ourselves. The Company of Heros all had the Echo, so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect we'd have attracted a core group of warriors who also have the Echo, but are not associated with the Scions.

Personally, I think the Echo is a lot more common than we're told, whereas the Blessing of Light is very rare. I think only the WoL, Shiva, and Krile have it. The cut scenes also mere the 2 together when they seem to be very distinct. As far ask I know, we've only used the Blessing twice?

You'd also have to consider the circumstances of the animation...like a fight for example. A warrior of dorkness isn't going to fight a lalafell warrior the same way he'd fight a roegadyn scholar, especially the intricate things like blocking with their weapon or weapon-locking (which also accounts for height differences within the same race/gender). They'd also have to take into consideration new jobs that come into the game for rewatching the cutscene, unless you don't mind rewatching the lvl 60 summoner quest and watching a CUL use deathflare.

Some lead up to primal fights and trials do this too. I remember for Ifrit normal mode that after you'd get captured and instanced into a waiting room, the quest npc tells you something along the lines of escaping to gather some companions for the troubles ahead. The best explaination is that the people you'd gathered all possess the echo to resist temperment.

I believe like others that we do fight alone a lot in the real story and that the group mechanics are most of the time only there because its a MMO. How bad would it be off the npcs that they only congratulate us for those fights if we had other people with us? Why would we be the special one if other people can be that strong too and possess the Echo? I believe that the npc outside the waiting room before Ifrits fight is only there as a in game way to be able to do something else. He is there so we would not be stuck in the room if we want to do the fight later and they gave him some sentences to make it look like he is part of the story. But it would not make sense if he truly is. (IMO) Why would one soldier be out there all alone and why did he not inform the head quarters or maybe fellow soldiers about the captured people? And at that time we had no idea that a primal can temper someone so we would not have looked for people with echo. How big was the chance that we did not only find three other adventures near the place (its not like we had that much time to go far away), that were willing to fight along side us and strong enough to do so but also possessed the echo. That would be quite unbelievable for me. And that they would not be mentioned by the scions after the fight. [And lets not look into the thing that we somehow still had our weapons and were not bound]

But lets look at Garuda. We were able to travel to her place after we went through that dungeon to get Cid´s ship. I also believe that we did this dungeon alone too. Alphinaud and Cid only worry about us which would be kinda bad if there were other people with us too, but we also leave immediately to face Garuda. We see a nice cutscene which, if I remember it right, is only with Cid, Alphinaud and us as the WoL and after that the fight starts. We could have turned away from the fight but this was also only a mechanic so that we could do something else if we did not want to fight her right away. This was not possible in the story itself.

The last two 2.0 story dungeons are a little bit more complicated. They outright tell us in a cutscene that we are the leader of the adventurers that fight there, so we did have at least some adventurers with us at the beginning but it gets a little strange towards the end. Gaius only talks with us like we are the only one there and at the end there is only one mount to get us out. The npcs outside also only worry about us and we are the only one that came out of the burning building. This could mean that we either left the group behind after some time and the dungeon itself is the part where we fight alone which would explain why they were only worried about us since the other npc adventurers would have already left the place or it would mean that we left all those other people behind to die and that the others did not care even a little bit about that..I really hope that its the first one and that we fought alone at the end because otherwise we don't really deserve to be called Warrior of LIGHT.

There are also fights where we needed to follow the enemy right away so we would not have enough time to gather other adventurers. Chrysalis comes to my mind.

The same can be said about the HW fights. We went to Ravanna with Iceheart on our side but after she lost, we fight him alone. Its the same with Bismarck. We are the only one on that isle with the Ascian woman and in the end Alphinaud also only worries about us and not anyone else. The same can be said about the fight against both Ascians. Afterwards Thordan and his knights appear and we kinda follow him to face him right after that. We had no time to get other people and in the story we also only traveled to Azys Lla with our dear npc characters. Where would we have found other adventurers with echo that are at the same level like us on a flying island which should not have been known to others?

The void arc is the only recent one that I remember where the npcs afterwards congratulate us to have those strong other adventurers on our side which are at the same time not seen...what had happened to them? Why would they leave before us?
I am not really sure why SE choose to do it that way. I know that there were some sentences from npcs like Alphinaud were they said that we should gather some other adventurers for the fight but it often does not makes sense. I just think to myself that it just a hint for us players that this will be another dungeon or trial that we fight with other players and that it should not be taken that seriously. Otherwise this would not paint a good picture of us and of the npc characters..and who would still want to fight with us, if only we get the praise for it. And in the end how can we be THE strong warrior of light if we need four or more people to fight against one single person (for example Gaius..).

We also view the cutscenes through the journey. Why would the WoL completely forget to mention all the people that fought alongside them? If SE really wanted to show us that we needed others to beat up all these opponents (even solo opponents) they could have inserted some npc characters that always appear at the end instead of player characters that fought with us. But we are always alone..

There was only one fight were other adventurers were really on our side and this was Steps of Faith. Not only did we go around and asked some NPC adventurer for help but we also saw them in the cutscene after the fight. I really liked it, because for the first time you could be 100% sure that this was not a fight that we fought alone.

Sorry for this off topic X_X just wanted to write my opinion about this..maybe one day the devs will post that we had help all the time and I have to accept that but for me this would be really bad for the WoL because we would be nothing than a person that gets all the praise even though we are just one person from a group of people. And it mean that we did not really accomplish anything alone.

Now onto the topic of this thread.

Yes I am also getting tired about my character. I know that it would be much more work for them to make a nice fighting scene with all those different races and classes but like some said why could we not at least do something else. Shove someone out of the way of a attack, defending our self somehow or maybe even have a little instanced fighting where we could show them our strength. That we, like always just stood there and did nothing was the worst way they could do that. It made me feel like at the time with Haurchefant where we stood there and did nothing to help him which in the end killed him.

We are lvl60 fighter. We had to fight a lot of harsh monsters and other opponents. And even if we somehow fought them with other people we would still need to be powerful or we would have not survived these fights or would not have been seen as the Warrior of Light. So seeing us with such a slow reaction or no reaction at all is really painful.

Someone said how we should have blocked the attack with a book but I do kinda remember a fight with Alphinaud on our side, where we fought a 2vs2 in a small arena against two battle trained knights and somehow we managed to defeat them (and yes I am a summoner so somehow I am able to defeat someone with an axe or a sword) and get away without any wounds. So please dont tell me that we cant in any way do something. Heck I am a summoner that was able to defeat some lesser Ascians on my own...[Its already bad that somehow this time the echo scene impacts us that much but at the same time it does not do the same to the WoD..]

The idea that out character is so strong that no one can even approach us in strength is so ridiculously stupid I'm having problems understanding where that mindset is coming from. Especially when we're shown that all of our companions, except Tataru and Minfilia, have a great deal of combat prowess. And even non companion characters such as Ilberd, Livia and Gaius are shown to be significantly powerful. Not to mention, we are most definitely not the first people to kill primals. The Scion's and various mercenary groups like the Company of Heroes were doing so well before we began our adventures in Eorzea.

Well, technically, we already did do something in a cutscene. Whether or not it was awesome is subjective -- I thought it was awesome -- but does anyone remember how it was us, and no one else, who obliterated Iggy (I keep forgetting that Ascian's name) from the fight with her and Lahabrea? She was about to warp away or reincarnate or whatever it was that the Ascians did, and it was us who threw that white aetheryte and did whatever came next (I can't remember all the details, sorry!).

I would settle for something like that in future cutscenes. It'd be easy to do on SE's part, and at the same time it'd make us look awesome. Why waste time attacking and parrying when we can use a cutscene exclusive ability that anyone, race, gender, and job, is capable of using?

You're trying to use a few off-hand small cutscenes to rationalize this theory, all of which are always tacked on at the end to usher the player on to finish the content, and yet in any cutscene where these events take place it is only ever our character that is scene in them. Whenever there's a integral cut scene with voice-acting, and true story progression our character is only ever the sole protagonist. Take for instance, "Stone Vigil" where Cid's ship was last seen, and we enter to with a small party to navigate through it, if the story truly wanted to acknowledge their presence why weren't they in the cutscene when Cid, and Alph approach the dragon, or when we encounter the Ascian? How come we escape on the Enterprise with JUST the 3 of us, and none of the previous party members?

I'll tell you again, it's called "Game mechanics." In every game, it's up to the player when to interpret whether or not game mechanics are canon. In Final Fantasy, Game mechanics are hardly ever canonical, especially when they're inconsistent with the main plot of the game. In which here they are. So you decide, which canon are you going to readily accept. the main plot which clearly states that we are the lone adventurer slaying these beasts, or the game mechanic that's directing the "player" to find a party? It's as if someone was to suggest that health bars, and the ui actually DO exist in the real world of Final Fantasy just because we see it on our screen. Honestly, it's a bit of common sense.

And lastly, Alphs sort of confirms that we are the sole warrior of light capable of these feats during the conclusion of our encounter with the derplander. He claims that he was unaware that anyone besides us were capable of taking on primals, and it would have been terrible negligence on their part had they never even heard of them. This sort of puts the nail in the coffin on this subject.

It looks really silly when someone is charging me with a giant, bloody axe and I open up a book to page 24 and glare. As if I'm projecting, "If you take one more step forward I'll reveal who kills Dumbledore!" and the foe hesitates until the Scions swoop in an neutralize the situation with spoiler tags.

And yet, when you arrive in Prae with Cid, what does he say? "You know, a place a warrior of light would go without a thought of personal safety, oh if only one were with us." then looks at us. Well, that would certainly be an odd thing to say to our character should we have a WHOLE group of warriors of light with us, don't you think? And care to explain why we are the only visible opponent when Gaius exclaims "But the Ultima weapon is all-powerful, how does my opponent still stand?" (Note that he's speaking in the singular, "opponent" and not addressing a group of people.) Even when Lahabrea shows up he refers to our characer in the singular, for me he says "It is the blessing of light she possesses that confounds you." In any cut scene of importance we are only ever seen alone. And lastly, since we ALL beat Ultima weapon together, how come the Scions, the leader of each city state and even CID himself outside only acknowledge you, and you are the only one to escape while hitching a ride on your magitek. I guess we left the rest of the adventurer's to die with Gaius? lol And yet, the only evidence that supports this claim of a party of Warriors of light are the short tacked on dialogue boxes asking us to bring along friends? Talk about really pushing the envelope. lol


This reminds me of a tutorial you'd encounter an RPG, where a character in the game goes through how to navigate a menu, or Junction system. While there is no actual menu, or anything, it is a mechanic only included to usher and guide the character in order to help them continue through the content. Honestly, this nit-picking proves no points.

I don't know, smacking him with magical dysentery,siccing a rabid carbuncle or mini titan to his face, or a painflare to his everything would've been my first idea, and im not even versed in summoner business.

Barring that, I feel the ingenuity of using a improbable parrying weapon that is the magic book is being highly understated here. :)

Thank you KyahAlmasy :D you said everything that shows me that we fight alone way shorter than I did.

About the point that primals were killed before us: Its true but they also told us that this killed a lot of people because they went in with a lot of numbers and the first soldiers would always be tempered and the next row would fight these tempered one while the last people would then try to kill the primal. So yes its possible to kill it without the echo but it was quite the loss. This is why we are so special. :)

I don't care if we have someone that is on our level of strength or even stronger than us but please let us be able to show why we are called the warrior of light and why so many people puts their hope into us. Standing there doing nothing and even needing protection is bad. If we would have been poisoned or injured I would have understand this but we are healthy and just because we had a echo vision we suddenly cant react fast?

And about us summoners ;) Like I wrote in my last post. We already were able to defeat knights with very deathly weapons with only Alphinaud, another book user, on our side. So no I don't take this as a argument anymore after SE showed that we were able to do this.

Also, the previous incarnations of primals were noted to be far weaker than the version we face. Even the other companies, and merc groups explain to us that the version we fought was far stronger. lol
