I find that infuriating, too. I just ask them to stop pulling, and if they won't, I'm not at all scared to Vote-kick for harassment. I've healed runs where that's happened, too, but it thankfully VERY rare as most DPS players are smart enough to realize there are more expendable than a tank or healer.
Being kind and willing to compromise will get you farther than being a dick.

Is DF really that bad for tanks? I haven't had a negative experience yet on my DRK. I do agree that tanking is a lot more stressful than DPSing and the fact that there are no DPS checks in any of the non-Savage/Extreme content, combined with the fact that I'm technically not allowed to parse so I can't call a DPS out for hitting 1-2-3 (and sometimes not even that) and doing sub-300 DPS (and I'm not the type to kick them just for that reason anyway) means that DPS have it pretty damn easy all the way through the majority of 60 content. However, if a tank screws up, the consequences are a bit obvious in that everyone dies. -

DF is flooded with crappy tanks that hopped on Dark Knight because of the "dark and moody Emo Feel" that comes with them. However, these people have often no idea how to tank properly. They don't care about class positionals, cross class skills or even something as simple as dodging AOEs. They don't even care if they can hold aggro and if notified of their crappy tanking (no matter in what tone), they will get aggressive and rude.
For healers it is similar even if not as extreme but they are somewhat connected. What healer wants to heal a DF group with one of the shitty tanks mentioned above? I main healer and it always ends in an excessively long and frustrating run (if you are lucky enough to finish) or kicking the tank to actually be able to get somewhere.
Mind you, I am not talking about newbie tanks WILLING to learn. I am talking about the kind that thinks they are the shits because they got (addrandomnontankclass) to 60 and now think they know all of them. -

When I know I won't be able to handle ppl "relaxing" and playing as whatever, I just don't say anything and leave as soon as I can. Your defense is knowing you are the tank if you leave the whole party will suffer and possibly have to disband the instance. So because one person said something you just screwed the whole party over possibly by leaving. Dungeon instances last what may 30 minutes tops, 40 if its going bad, but people would possibly vote abandon by then anyways. Either ignore it or turn off the chat log. Part of being a tank is you need to be above petty rhetoric, you chose to be a tank knowing you may encounter those who do not approve of you, can't please them all. There needs to be someone "in charge" without leadership its chaos. A friend told me, yesterday, her experience. A tank in bismarch storyline gave instructions and was telling step by step what to do to everybody, but after 3 wipes he left cuz when he was asking who didn't do what they needed and they started to call him dick. My friend is a DPS and she was sad that the tank left cuz of most of the ppl behavior. They wiped 4-5 times after the first three wipes.
Funny thing is that they were asking each other what was what the previous tank told them what to do. Ppl just overreact and let their emotions take over them and insult other ppl that were trying to help them. -

There are 3 other people, or 7 in my party, we depend on each other to do our jobs make the instance go as fast, smooth, fun as possible. As someone who tanks regularly in the DF for daily roulettes and such, it isn't all that bad. Sometimes you get those really oddball folks that do the weirdest things, like attempting to pull for you, ignoring boss mechanics just to see those higher numbers in their parsers, or the new ones I have been seeing lately, which are those that, no matter how I position mobs, want to stand in front of said group, getting themselves cleaved in the process.
I am not the best tank, nor do I don't think I am a bad one either (least I hope not. Lol), and it isn't always a cesspool of fail and death EVERYTIME you queue up. There have been some interesting folks that you run into, and it's always cool to run into a fellow player on your server that's not only good, but fun just to chat with. It sucks to meet up with some of these people cross server, but can't friend them.
I have been yelled at as a tank, and it's usually cause I either pulled too big of a group or cause I have pulled a set of mobs that just add way too much damage on top of whatever it is I already have. That's about it. All of that is on me as its things I can control. I am always open for tips and criticism, it's what helps you get better, least in my mind.
Tanks need to have thicker skin than most others, simple because your mistakes are much more visible than say...the DPS that is only auto attacking or the healer that's casting heals, and only heals. So long as I can get folks thru a dungeon safely, it's a job well done.
Like I said, there are some loudmouths out there, but so long as your doing your job, they'll have no reason to come at you. I usually just let the two members at work settle their issue by themselves. Hell, I'll still pull as the two are shouting at each other. Less typing, more pew pew! xD -

This thread is 14 pages long and I am just going to throw my $0.02 in. 99.99% of the DF groups I get don't say anything in party chat and if they say anything its "hi" or "hello". And we always finish the DF in 30~40m and everyone leaves happy.
P.S. I strictly run DF for my EOS unless a FC member sends me a tell for help. Which is almost never! -

I stopped leveling my DRK at 50. I do so little damage it makes soloing take an eternity on heavensward mobs compared to my dragoon when she was lvl 50. It's quite unsatisying.

I've had 1 bad run in DF, with a 'friend' in DV and they all tried to force me to take a lot of mobs when
I didn't feel so comfortable with it just yet [first run] and I just left. They would run and grab all the mobs
right when I asked could we take a bit since I was new. Nope! And that friend was a huge d!ck so yea, screw him lol.
