Company Seals for your own chocobo THATS IT?!

Mmm was thinking of this but they did say it costs 3000 company seals to get it but what if they had a grand company quest (chocobo related - one time quest) that gave 3000 company seals???

They need a way for gatherer/crafter to get the chocobo's and fighting quests from grand company doesn't seem right so they must of added another way to obtain company seals for non-fighting class, and I can only think of alternate quests which doesn't involve fighting and one could just be chocobo related. Hope it's something like this then it will solve issue where crafter/gatherer without fighting class can get My Chocobo safely + at same time get the quest to get chocobo part solved.

I can't +1 this hard enough.

From the company standpoint these particular birds are meant entirely for their utility. chocobos are being provided by the companies to members proving themselves by rank and seal. They are trained mounts meant for use in support of the company, and in support of the city states the companies are sworn to protect. It may be best to think of them like any other provision granted to a soldier based on rank and duty. These are not your pets and not your close personal friends.

Adventurers are not tied down like the more stationary members of the companies. It seems only reasonable for the companies to exploit this mobility by bolstering it further.


The situation will probably be explained when ranking up within a chosen company or specifically when purchasing a company issue chocobo. I could see a cut scene explaining the situation as your character has a conversation with the company quartermaster during the assignment of the issuance.

They've already stated mulitple times that the airships and chocobos would be constantly fleshed out as time goes by. Its not like we're going to just get this and be stuck with it, any more than us being stuck with the current classes or current class skill sets.

Eventually we'll be having airship specific content, pvp in gladiator arenas, our chocobos aiding in battle, and even jumping. The problem is, since we're playing the game right now, AND a new team is working on the game simultaneously, we're seeing things implemented and improved as they go. Also Yoshi-P and team arent implementing things at a rate that the player base is dictating. If that was the case, they would've just thrown up a job system and let us have at it.

Honestly, I dont see the big deal in getting a company issued chocobo after doing quests and paying for it...especially when we'll be breeding them sooner or later, fighting along side them, and other things you probably wouldnt ever be able to do in Vana'diel or any other FF universe in the past.

SE keeps this up i pertty sure when they charge no one will be left.

So because they have a somewhat standard way of purchasing a Chocobo after doing quests, company issued mind you...not something you raised on your own, its that bad of a thing. Sounding like a broken record at this point, but breeding, chocobo combat among other things, and airship based content other than just instant travel (which will be fixed once they implement on deck areas) ARE in the pipeline. Look at it this way. Rental chocobos are like taking a bus. Grand company chocobos are like keys to the company car. Dont get caught on the word personal right now. The true personal chocobos will be when you raise your own. That said becoming a full member is like getting hired for the job. If you lookat it that way it should make more sense and take the edge off of the need for lore or a choco related quest. We waited a long year for this so lets not spoil it. Beast strongholds might be a better activity to satisfy the thirst for challenge.

There May Be A Quest Who Knows! but if there isnt....ive got 7k seals still and am ready to turn them in oh well doesnt bother me anyway. free stuff is for me! cant complain about the free!

Certainly a quest to talk to few people with couple cutscenes to explain what happened to them isnt too much to ask?

Its more content for the content, more lore, depth and RP. Why is everyone so anti quest?

I'm starting to thing the only type of a chocobo quest people seem to imagine is the tedious waste of time one from the unamed online prequel of ffxiv...

c'mon people vote for more content, story and depth! It's not tedious waste of time to watch a CS, it's lore and eye candy ;)

3000 seals may seem cheap for you but for the new players that might seem a bit much.

Who says the content isn't there? Have you played patch 1.19 already? no? oh well then maybe you should wait to see what actually will happen. Maybe there is a cutscene or content to go along with it... I believe there is more to this then what the Lodestone has told us. I have to repeat NONE of us know until this patch is released and we get the content.. I will be laughing and feeling sorry for all of you if there is more to it when we get the patch and you make your "omg thank you SE for listening to us, I never doubted you for a second... (oh wait yes i did last week, doh hope no one calls me out on it)"
Seriously I could care less either way I just want my chocobo and to ride around on it...

finally someone posts with some common sense. We are all bashing SE for making new content for New players. While all of us have tried to rush through everything on patch day and be done with it till the next patch. As I said in another thread and pink just said, start over and tell me if it is so "handed to me"

I'm off on a tangent here, but remember that douchie dude in XI that was mean to his Chocobo? I think it was for the BeastMaster Job quest?

I really hated that guy and he made my youngest daughter cry. In fact I was leery of all players that had that Bald Headed - Tattooed - Mike Tyson - face because of that creep.

Please, SE. No more animal torture story-quests (unless I can kick the guys arse this time).

I mean, the only way to afford enough seals is to do the rank 45 raid.
Some of us haven't been lucky enough to complete it, believe it or not.
Finding a party of 8 of high enough rank and willing to get together for it isn't as easy as it sounds.

If it were up to me, I'd like them to cut the price in half, so that way, people who have at least completed the first raid can get in on it.

I know I'm going to receive a ton of hate, stuff about how it shouldn't be so easy or the "noobs" will run the game, but it's how I feel, and I've been playing since day 1.

Its not the only way. They will introduce some more Grand Company quests with 1.19, not to mention you get rewarded seals for completing Caravan escorts.

It's possible we'll get something like that for handing in an insurance form, much like completing some of the first Grand Company stuff introduced us to Cid and the concept of Meteor.

Maybe for the ones that are R50 and have beaten everything. But think about it, for getting your personal chocobo you need to be R45 and beat Darkhold. That alone is more work than for getting your own personal chocobo in XI.
I have yet to beat Darkhold (its not that easy for the people with small Ls) so I will not have my own chobo day 1.

1. Level to 25
2. Join a Grand Company by doing a quest
3. Rise to the rank of member (that's probably going to be at least one quest as well)
4. Accumulate seals by doing a lot of Caravan escorts or by doing the rank 25 raid (that takes hours if you don't know anyone)
(5. Do a quest that's about Chocobos, we don't know anything yet and people are already calling for a riot.)
6. Buy your chocobo license

In FFXI we have:

1. Trade one item to a Chocobo every hour for 5 hours.
2. ???
3. Congrats, you can now ride Chocobos!

You can be proud of yourself, you really worked hard for that license there.

I can't believe some of the people here, OF COURSE it's going to be easy to get a Chocobo when you have multiple rank 50 classes? Did you think you'd have to save a Chocobo from a level 90 Wyrm in a full party? Jesus christ...

Fair enough. Still, saying it's going to be a walk in the park for a new player to get a license is pretty foolish. And once again, to those who say it's easy to "complete the level 25 raid in 10 minutes", did you complete it in 10min as a level 25 who just started playing the game? Yeah, I didn't think so.

lol ya! I actually really miss that run... It was such a thrill and a fulfilling experience... some might think it wasn't but I found it fun. Would also have competitions with friends to get on their lowest job and have a race from a starting city to jueno by foot. It was so much fun!

its a company issue chocobo, youll have to take the issuance to the chocobo npc, im sure he will have a few words to say on the matter.

maybe after you beat batraal they add another boss in one last room that has a giant dragon and behind him are 8 chained up chocobos for you party, lol.

the dragon can say something like, "so you want my snack do you"

that the rental FFXI chocobo , not the personal , and you forgot that you need to be lvl 20 .

what do you need to rent a chocobo in FFXIV ?, rank 10 only ( that takes what ? 5 min ?).

Questing for a Chocobo is a thing of the past, I for one thank god I don't have to waste my time doing some stupid long quest to get my Chocobo considering they should have been out on day one of FFXIV release. Also some people actually spent their points on R50 items or other things like crafting scrolls and they will have to do quests to get them. Also considering Chocobos is going to be more than just a mount in the game in the future and they will implement quests and other things later as a part of the Chocobo system.

don't remember chocobo quest being that hard in ffxi, but the item to hand in was selling very expensive so i went to farm my own. lol 10k each i think...dang i was broke. but the kazam pass that was really good, took some time, also needed a little help with it from people. they should think bout adding stuff like this in game,

we really need to wait before QQ'ing on the personal chocobos. Like some have metioned u have to get passed recruit and im guessing the story will unfold there about chocobos. I think they could have made the requirements a little higher for the rental but all in all im just happy to have them at the point. it's like a long lost friend comming home

There's a slew of Chocobo content coming.

Here's how I see it unfolding:

We join the Grand Companies and earn ranks and seals. One of our rewards, a "personal" wartime mount trained to respond to a whistle.

Then when they add future content we'll see the mount become a pet. After time spent together as just adventurer and mount, we'll have legitimate quests to form a bond.

Plus there's no indication there won't be a quest. We could hand them 3k seals and the NPC will say "Here's your issuance, but you choco is terribly sick..."

Even if there isn't an initial quest, big deal. I'd rather this method than XI's method of waiting weeks for something that moved at half the pace of it's rental counterpart.

People here really need to stop the QQ >.>
Almost a year of "wheres my chocobo!" to "don't give it to me so easily"

Some people here, like Xatsh, won't be satisfied unless they are the only players on the server, nay the game, who have an item that must be reached through 4 years of work.

Stop the e-peen contest and realize this is a video game, not real life.
The Grand Companies are somewhat military related, do you have to build a relationship with your car before you can use it? These chocobos are essentially issued to you for your field operations, if that makes sense.

They are personal chocobos but not necessarily YOUR chocobo. It's a branded chocobo, with the flag of your Company, essentially making it a company property chocobo.

Ever look at it that way? If you are a soldier, for example, you'd expect to be issued your equipment and mounts, not have to go make your gun from scratch, or build your car yourself. This is going to help against the Garlean Invasion ... something something.


Whatever just accept the damn chocobo and airship, or are you going to QQ you don't have to quest for an airship pass?

Well...Some animals reproduce offsprings Asexually (but that's a whole other subject)
But it says "Company Chocobos" are males...well how about rental chocobos, maybe they are males and females...so I would not rule out Chocobo Breeding just yet :p

then SE announced birds were in the works,

you have no idea what quests the companies will issue to get the insurance so do be quiet, wait until the patch is up for download and you have had a chance to check what you actually have to do.

then if you feel the need to cry about it, GO DO INTO UR PILLOW.

this game is awesome, the devs are doing some great work and trying to please everyone. this IS NOT FFXI. things HAVE to be different in order to make it stand apart from XI.

As long as I have a cutscene leading to me getting a chocobo, I'm happy. I don't need a quest a la FFXI to give to a npc one item every hour for 5hours or spend weeks to get a subpar mount.

Having to spend 3k seals for it is good enough if there is a cut scene associated with the whole process. I mean, it's going to take some time for new comers to gather those seals and for us... Well, wasn't it the whole purpose of playing the game since release given its bad shape: be ahead of new comers? That's what you get (and that's no surprise): every new things that will be released almost instantly.

Do you remember how people were saying that the R45 dungeon was too easy (who beat the full dungeon at the first try, even with an already established tactic?) after spending all their time spamming them? What do you think the same people would have said if they would have only done it once per day or even less?

What I see from reading the forums is that a lot of people can't control themselves and need the game to put barriers for them instead of just pacing themselves.

Right on. Plus think of it as a present to us from SE, making it easy to get because we didn't one for a year. All the new comers it will take longer. I see this as an incentive for sticking with the game and some people still have to work for it now as I said because they may have spent their points instead of farming them. Also we have no idea what pre req. quests we have to do to get the bird as one did mention we have to obtain a certain rank before we can get them. We will know in a week.

Pretty sure chocobos have been handed in every tittle of the franchise....
