That Hurts watching it, after spending most of my time farming 72 cards

Honestly, I didn't expect them to completely fix the issue before prizes were released. However, I did expect them to do something... for example removal of the card, and re-distribution of a more levelled MGP prize...
But to actually hand the Lightning card out. I must say, I am blown away.
I don't know what to say. I love this game. I came back specifically for the saucer and was very renewed with the TT game... this is very disappointing.
Unless I am misinterpreting your meaning, they are not actually handing out Lightning cards. What the video demonstrates is someone who specifically made a character to prove that the tournament could be & was abused my many. He deleted the card in order to prevent cheaters/exploiters from obtaining it.
Yea, this isnt a Lightning Card hand-out at all.
The guy most likely got beaten on his main, dropping 4th or less
He made another character, got enough points to become 2nd place in the end and that alt character doesnt need the lightning card, so he destroyed it while filming it.
It really hurts to see something that valuable thrown away. It's probably a message directed toward SE. "I'd rather not use something I cheated/cheesed for or anyone get it. That's not the point of of TT. The point is to collect all the cards and throwing Lightning Card away is probably not one of them. I'm honestly pretty mad I,m gonna cheese to get Cecil next week. I really want the cards, I'm not the only one in this boat.
Can you fix the tournament rules? Like.... make it so we don't choose our opponents at least?
with pvp win trading and no TT win trading and countless other in game exploate being used you think SE would fix some of the problems but as far as i know people still win trade in pvp so ten to one they'll still win trade in the TT tournament. it's not liek SE has a great track record of fix huge issues just my 2 cents
I did some minor editing to help clarify it. No, the Lightning card was given out.
That's what blew me away.
Well I placed 15th, you can see me in that video. 1530. That was all Elmer. 13 wins, 1 tie. Played it all within an hour of logging in day tournament started. I sat at 5th for the last few days, jumped 10 spots overnight as all the exploiters showed up last minute.
I'm a little disappointed because I think if you kick the exploiters out of that pool, I would have finished in top 10. I wasn't going to win the Lightning card with that score. Still, all I lost was some MGP and a gold pack, so whatever I guess. But I'd rather see the tournaments taken out of the game entirely than see them continue like this.
Look at the bright side. The cheaters will be back for that tournament as well, because there's still a sizable MGP reward for placing, even if you already have Lightning's card. This won't stop until SE actually fixes the tournament!
There. Don't you feel better now?
Yeah, people will still cheat it even having the cards to get that huge extra MGP.
Any news about the "Tournament"?
The MOST unfair thing about this system is the rare card rewards being awarded to only MAYBE 3 players on the entire server every few weeks. I understand that they are supposed to be rare, but this is pushing it a bit too far, because the more players on your server, the less likely chance that the people who really want those cards have of getting them. That chance which is now none to none. All other Dissidia cards except for those tournament only ones, are entirely obtainable and I've seen many people with them. These ones, it's like they may as well not even exist. It's a huge imbalance and I don't like it ]:
Maybe just change the top 3 prizes to tonnes of GP, while the top 20 can randomly get the cards. That would be a little more fair. :3
Other than that, I really love Triple Triad and I enjoy it greatly!
Ready your friends, ready your alts, ready your gil. It's almost time again.
How is this acceptable? This would never be tolerated if it impacted the raiding community. Imagine if the new Alexander raid became available, the first static to enter found a way to circumvent it, then were rewarded with exclusive loot that no one else on the server could obtain. Then were allowed to keep said loot. That is exactly what is going on here. Seriously, just cancel the upcoming tournament SE. Its what you should have done with the first tournament on day 1, when reports from every server suggested match fixing/buying wins took place. Hosting a second tournament under the same conditions will only further damage the Triple Triad community. Anyone who possesses a Lightning Card is treated with disdain as there is a strong likelihood it was obtained through dishonorable means. Do not do the same with the Cecil card.
You can't beat gil sellers, either. Are you going to start selling gil as well?
Just because someone else is rolling in the muck doesn't mean you need to get dirty as well. Cecil cards will come again and again and again. Your character and reputation, on the other hand, can only suffer so much.
Hopefully, this will be the last time that this sort of behavior will be going on. It all depends entirely on what changes are coming on the 31st.
In the words of Officer Michaels...
"I can't believe this is happening again..."
Even if you become a gil seller you still get tells from other gil sellers anyway. Your example is a bit far fetched.
You need to get dirty to win it, especially with this kind of system. And you're right, Cecil, Lightning and all the other cards will come back again and again so why get mad over something you can't get now but can get later.
Character reputation over tournament cards... Hehehe that's cute.
Why cheat over something you can't get now, but could get legitimately later? There's absolutely no point to sullying your reptuation.
I personally know of at least two people on my server alone that are regarded poorly (shouted about, warned about in Triple Triad linkshells, etc.) because they solicited people to throw matches for them, and I barely interact with other people on my server. I don't know why you think it's so far-fetched that people who show poor sportsmanship would suffer a backlash for it, especially when that poor sportsmanship garnered them a very exclusive prize that they didn't ethically earn.
It's not like these matches are Duty Finder, where you probably won't see the people in question ever again. They're all from your own server.
Yay. Time to win 10 times vs Elmer and sell whatever matches I have left over.
Because they'd rather cheese it now before it is actually competitive, why wait till later when it's harder when they can get it now when it is easier. That's pretty obvious... they want to get it done and over with. Their reputation on the other hand, probably don't even care about it. Since it's not directly related to PvE or PvP related, it won't stop them from getting into groups! Maybe your groups but hey.. *shrugs*
Apologies for the delay for providing an update regarding adjustments to the Triple Triad Tournament, as we understand many of you have been looking forward to participating in them.
First off, we are not going to be making adjustments to the current tournament for the following reasons:
1. If we were to make adjustments to the active tournament it would affect the development of Patch 2.55 and Heavensward.
2. Since this tournament uses a system that follows a set rotation schedule, if we were to stop a tournament midway through, it wouldn't be possible to obtain the rare cards that are available from the current tournament until much later, and this would disappoint many players who were looking forward to trying to obtain those cards.
We are, however, planning to make adjustments to the tournament rules in Patch 2.55. After this, we will also make additional minor adjustments moving forward. We're still in the process of making final adjustments, and we will announce the specific details at a later date.
Thanks for the reply, Greg. But can you address the concern that people who win tournaments (fairly or not) will wind up with a permanent advantage (the rare card), thus creating an uneven playing field and still incentivizing cheating? As I have understood it from the community, awarding powerful cards in TCGs is not standard practice for the above reasons and I'd hate to see something like that hurt TT.
To Grekumah and the Dev Team:
Besides the rampant cheating going on (and win-selling, etc.), can you at least pass along our feedback about the *fundamental problem* of Triple Triad Tournaments awarding Rare, Powerful Cards to ONLY the winners?
There have been multiple threads and posts on this, but looking at successful Trading Card Games and systems out there, there's a reason you don't award and give a major advantage of a Rare, Powerful Card ONLY to a few select people in the world. It wrecks the balance of the game.
That's like you saying, you're only giving away Dreadwyrm Weapons or Armor to the Winners of a [PVP Tournament] and no one else can earn them.
Inherently, the rewards should be something that won't break Balance, like a GLAMOUR version of a Card (same stats, but unique Art), or Big MGP payouts, etc. Or even Glamour Equipment. But not Rare, Powerful Cards.
Thanks.
The only people looking forward to obtaining those rare cards are the very same abusing the system so much that it needs to be changed >_>...
But i understand why you're holding off until the next patch instead of a Hotfix. I'm grateful you're changing it, and hopefully it works out for the better. Hopefully someday in the future I can look forward to obtaining these cards. Cause as it stands now, literally the day of the tournament, theres already someone (even with random) sitting at 20/20 wins... My only hope at this point is to maybe place high enough to get a decent amount of MGP.
I'd make a recommendation... even with fixing the tournament, can i recommend adding new ways to get these Tournament cards? Or at least distribute them to the top 20 instead of just the top 3?
Currently the only ones who look forward to obtaining those cards are those that win-trade.
As someone who legimately won a Lightning card I can say that anyone that doesn't win-trade just won't stand a chance to get 1th-3rd place in the tournaments. It's completely impossible with the random rule that the current tournament has, in fact.
Does obtaining a Lightning card, whether through fair means or foul, really create any sort of imbalance? Lightning is a five-star card, and while powerful is pretty much on-par with other five-star cards. And, AS a five-star card, you can have no more than one in your deck. If you include Lightning, you're giving up on any of the others. You can't even claim that her 9 1 7 A pattern makes her an unexpected attack vector - Onion Knight (8 2 8 A) and Raubahn (6 2 9 A) have similar strengths (weak right, powerful left, decent up and down).
I don't buy that having a Lightning card will make its owners any more or less difficult to beat than they would be without it. Now as card COLLECTORS, of course, having Lightning as a tournament reward is pretty awful since it makes it ridiculously difficult to complete your collection. (Especially if they ever retire it as a reward to make way for a new tournament reward, making it unobtainable for anyone that hasn't gotten it already.) For that, I definitely sympethize, and is a large part of why I'll likely never get serious about collecting cards.
The tournament rewards are no more powerful than the other FF protagonist cards available through other methods. It has certain side advantages and certain side weaknesses. Now if it had As on every side that would be an issue, but it doesn't and like most 5 star cards can be great or bad depending on the situation, the placement, and the rules in place.
Well, here's a thought:
Players can only face a single person once per tournament. If they try to rematch them under tournament settings, it would simply count as a standard match. Apply this to both NPCs and PCs.
So if someone wants to do this "Win Selling" it's gonna be a lot harder sense they can only throw one match per person. So in order to "Buy" Your way into the higher ranks, you'd have to find ALL of the 15 top ranked, get them ALL to agree to throw (Which I'm pretty sure some would not). Problem solved.
Currently on Gilgamesh server:
#1 2537 pts with 2 more matches to play.
Thats over 140 pts per win, I've only gotten 134 pts at most..
How do I get that many points per win?
Cactuar.
2nd and 3rd place: 19 wins out of 20 matches with roughly 1900 points.
1st place: 9 wins out of 20 matches and 2000 points.
Why even bother making another tournament before fixing the issue cause now yet another cheater is going to walk away with a fancy card and tons of MGP.
