I think this is the reason why so many are upset atm, they really didnt care about wedding itself but the lewlts it was supposed to give.
+1 for you for being honest ^^

Next people will be thinking they are entitled to a free copy of Heavensward because they pay a subscription that funded its creation...
So much drama over a few novelty items.
You paid for free wedding ceremony and you got it. And paying the subscription doesn't mean that you are entitled for all stuff for free as there is no proof that this additional content is not self-funded or in scope of development budget backed up by your subscription.
The most reasonable assumption is that if there is no cash shop on game - there would be no gold or platinum plans at all, only basic one with the same features as it is now - i.e. no additional glamour, mounts etc.
Cash shop allows more resources for the team (and SE itself always will get its share of profit regardless whether cashshop there or not).
I was on the edge at first, but I agree now that I have some perspective on the matter. This is not a F2P game where we should have to pay in order to experience and enjoy the perks and elements of the game. I see no problem with the cash shop in it's own when you want to be a special item, or minion; but when it comes to an element of gameplay then please don't try to segregate the players with "Pay more money to have fun!"
Then don't get married simple as that.
No need for a topic, simply forget about it and move on.
I am not downing on you all but if you don't wanna get married I see no reason to post how you aren't because it wasn't what you expected.
Simply turn a blind eye to the idea of marriage on the game, while the ones who do get married well that is up to them and you blowing up on forums to try and get rid of something mostly everyone was fighting and screaming for and that same sex marriage deal for nothing.
No body is forcing you but you, your pc, your wallet, your mind.
Seems like many kids on stage... anyone of you defending that already is marriaged in real life?
Marriage is a once in lifetime "bonding" and therefore it is special...
Your argumentation about "free" and " just vanity" is in vain because no one likes to marriage in shreds!
I was going to find someone to get married for the mount but now that it might cost a lot I probably won't spend money on it unless someone else wanted to pay for me but I don't know anyone that would.
Right now it's just a speculative argument, because no one really knows exactly what is in all the plans. All we know is that the plans exist, and they have some additional vanity options. They also said that the Standard/Free plan is fully-featured and that they expect many players to be fully satisfied with that. The issue will only be settled once people see what's in the plans and the according prices, and then see if the Standard Plan is really good enough for most people or not.
Honestly, I think that is part of the reason for it as well. They probably want the mount to be reserved for people who are somewhat serious about eternal bond, not just going through with it in order to get the mount.
This argument is really old and so far fetched its not funny. Do you complain when you buy a cd and they release another cd with some bonus tracks for a few dollars more? Why is it so special here? You people think just because they develop something that it MUST BE FOR YOU!!
WRONG!!
Don't be so naïve to think that every single dollar people pay in subs goes straight for developing content just for you, because it doesn't. You asked for marriage in game and YOU GOT IT!! ITS FREE!!
The extra stuff DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU. It NEVER DID. You want the extra goodies then you are going to have to pay for it.
Funny thing is he is still going strong and paying to play. Don't like it? Then stop subbing. because im so tired of the doomsday talk from him
All of those games albeit FFXI have a cash shop, and have had a cash shop for YEARS.
Your example fits absolutely perfectly into a Buy 2 Play game like GW2. The only problem is that this is a subscription game so not only do we buy the CD, we pay them per month for a nice little songs/updates (As they explained the system to us at the start) for the fans that support them in between CDs only to have them give us a crappy demo of a song and telling us to shove out more cash because we don't deserve anything from them anyway. It's true, unless they're contractually obligated to provide it, we don't deserve it.
But ask yourself this, how long will the band still have those fans?
Do what you want with the system really but don't try and make the arguments invalid by giving ridiculous examples to counter them
You'll get your songs for your subscription fee. What you'll not get is a fan poster and free tickets to the concerts, but it was never promised that you will.
It's not that we suddenly stopped getting our share of content since cash shop was introduced - content patches are still every ~3 months with pretty much the same volume of content.
Cash shop items are just extra and as such they can be sold separately with additional pricetag for those who want extra stuff.
The same as I am getting some free games from PSN+ but nobody gives me perks from collector editions of said games even though I am paying a subscription fee.
Getting an extravagant wedding is still more affordable in FF14 compared to real life. Married couples playing together should take this chance to have the dream wedding they never had. *whistles*
This isn't just some simple cash shop item, this is actual content being watered down to make the paid version more appealing. The Eternal Bond was shown to have certain rewards and perks way before Square started forcing the Dev team to start selling what they can. Buy your posters and collectibles by all means (Heck I even want them to add certain collectibles if that's the road we're heading). But this isn't just another cash shop item. This is a major piece of content in a patch that is mainly designed to get you to pay, even tho you are already paying for patch content.
Honestly like I said somewhere else if they made the gold version have its own version of rewards and didn't water down the ingame version this problem wouldn't be nearly as bad. Heck it'd be a pretty good reason to give a pure white chocobo that looks similar to Trickster to those that want to go the extra mile.
These types of thread will all disapear in a week or two and the cash shop will still be here selling stuff that imo should be in game anyways.
Fc housing price threads died down in a week or two then fc housing got released without much change to it.
Personal housing prices got released the same again threads died down after a week or two same again housing got released without much change to it.
I can see this happening every time they add somthing new to the cash shop sadly it will still be there.
Payable marriage :/ This game got $210 from me 1st year for sub and purchasing the game itself.
I've heard it before. Vanity is optional, buying it is optional, etc. I don't care. With the standard marriage plans they are going to give us watered down content for "free" while suggesting to get the full experience and anything fun or additional, we are going to have to hit up the cash shop. Some people in this game like glamor and vanity because we rightfully pay for all content already in sub fees. I think more people might be upset if they instituted coil gear they can pay to glamor in different options through the cash shop, because then they'd be wanting to sell you on a better raid experience with paid customizable loot. Its all about how far they decide to push the concept and how many nerves are struck before they decide to stop putting additional price tags on glamor items and try forcing watered down content on us in an attempt to slip another hand in our wallets each month.
