Up Commencement Time to 60 Seconds

Uhh, a lot of those dudes accepting at the last second aren't trolling, that's the point. I've had numerous instances where I either was not able or barely able to switch in time, many of which happened after the change that made Return/Teleport unusable in combat.

Because there's a lot a DPS can't even do well on their own.

Want to do A/S hunts? Have fun with your crap evaluations because they decided to make it all enmity-based for some reason.

Want to kill a B hunt for your weekly? Unless you're totally decked out or something, good luck doing that without your chocobo (which you can't even call when queued) or other help.

Even some FATEs for books/daily hunts can be challenge to do as a DPS if no help shows up + the FATE has been leveled up by a previous iteration.

This is, again, not solo content. Why are you trying to solo things that aren't meant to be? It's also worth noting that again, you still have the advantage. As a healer or tank these FATES will usually time out if tried solo. Every DPS can access defensive abilities. Use them.

Sometime takes longer, from ps3, to load a zone =/

I know that changing zones when playing on my slow computer is guaranteed to make the queue pop while I stare at the zone name with a black screen, hearing the ticks. Some zones do take longer than 45 seconds to load- the game has the CAPACITY to make the duty finder window clickable during the load transition (because if you alt f4 during this time, it gives you the official "do you want to close game" popup. They really should allow clicking commence during zone transitions.

The amount of exaggeration in this thread is ridiculous.

I've been aggroed in the mines when the duty pops. It is not difficult at all to pop sprint and find a corner within 45 seconds.

My girlfriend's power supply died so I had to replace it with an old one and swap her graphics card with a dinosaur as a temporary band aid. PS3 players get better load times than she does, but she never misses a queue.

TL;DR - this is getting ridiculous

You can't do solo content while you're que'd up either.

You can't start an important craft.
You can't watch any cutscenes.
Can't work on your relic as a class you're not qued up with.
Your only DPS is MNK so yeah no wonder you think you can tank B ranks easy peasy. Not so true for BLM.

I mean you can, but every time you do the commence window can pop up at the start of any of the above things and you'll more than likely have to inconvenience yourself.

No, you get it only if the commencement window shows up and you either do nothing or withdraw at that point. The only way to get out of a commencement window without a strike or entering the dungeon, is if somebody else withdraws (unless they are partied with you, then you get a strike as well)

I don't usually "kill it quickly" as a DPS, I just get my ass kicked without a healer chocobo. As a healer or tank, I can easily sustain myself and outlast the mob without needing to bring out the companion.

Also, the only worthwhile "defensive ability" you can really use as a DPS is desyncing and using Second Wind and resyncing. Everything else is a joke compared to what tanks have at their disposal.

I fail to see how you can grief others if the queue is skipping you while in a cutscene. Unless you're talking about a situation where you're literally the only person in that role for a certain period of time. But proper implementation should be transparent to anyone on the outside. To everyone else in the group it should look as if you weren't in the queue at all. So I guess that's trolling the queue if you consider a tank that doesn't queue for low level duties to be trolling the queue.

How about if you miss you queue for a legitimate reason and next time you queue it will put you first instead of last of course limit this. If you don't queue back up in the next five minutes you go back to the line. It won't hold your spot but put you first in line for the duty you selected

If you know you can not be back in 45 seconds, you should leave the queue out of courtesy to everyone else. Just like in real life, if you need to do whatever for your kid, dog, etc. and you are drving, you don't get to stop in the middle of the road and hold everyone up, or talk obliviously on the phone while the light turns green etc. Whatever happened to common courtesy and respect for other players? They are not there to be taken for granted.

Why is this fair to anyone else? If you are waiting in lines at the movies, and you leave it to go to the bathroom, you do not get to cut in line. Usually you have your wife, husband, brother, sister whoever else with you to help hold your place, but if you ask the stranger behind you hold your place and line gets to the point where he has to go, and you are not back, you are not getting your place back. Furthermore it is actually quite rude to impose on to hold your place, you leave you go to the back of the line. And even if it your family, it is still quite rude to take them for granted this way, you take forever in the bathroom and everyone else passes them by because they are waiting for you, and wait there all by themselves for another however many minutes. Whatever happened to punctuality? Get your ducks in a row, go to the bathroom before you line up, should be common sense and common courtesy.

The queuing system does not have communication between players from different server or players you don't even know you are going to get. Sure you can brainstorm about all the ways to integrate into the system, but if all it is unnecessary complications and more failure mode and troll opportunities, it is a non-starter. If any thing the system can use a simplification, removal of the withdraw button, and people will be forced into the instance. Whatever they were doing before that will be lost, canceled, etc.

Players will be required switch to their appropriate class while in instance in 45 seconds or less before that ring that surrounds the party goes away to progress into the instance. Failure to do so will cause them to be forcibly removed with a 30 minute penalty applied. Trolls that try to hide all the gear on their retainers and game the system will be punished appropriately People that choose to be AFK trolls will also be punished appropriately. Bottom if you don't want the withdraw penalty, you don't need the withdraw button. Right now it seems the withdraw button is like too much yarn for a cat to get itself strangled.

Or instead of trying to just to enforce ever stronger draconian measures in the hope that your player base won't eventually get tired of this, and quit, you could try to anticipate and work around problems that might potentially cause the situation. Or to provide leniency in situations where it would otherwise be acceptable to do so if communication were somehow allowed.

I don't agree with raising the time limit to 60 seconds. It just means more time spent when someone AFKs and I don't think it's going to help that much for helping those that might want it.

However, someone suggested a pause queue function at one point. This actually seems like a pretty good idea. It's like you're telling the queue that you need to step away for a couple min and the queue will skip you. Will remove incidences where players have to wait for a commencement window to fail when someone wants to go to the bathroom, answer the door, or whatever reasonable request you would probably honor and accept within a dungeon (where you have proper communication). Just have the feature time out in a few minutes (5?) similar to how you would only wait so long for that person to get back in a dungeon.

and what if that player goes AFK for a RL emergency and doesn't have time for those few precious seconds to say AFK? I can assure you if I was that player and you started screaming at me I would most definitely not be nice about it. I can think of a few choice words that would probably land me in front of a GM if they saw them.

I let the timer ran out once because i was watching cutscene in hildibrand quest, i skipped the cutscene, yet another one "to be continued" cutscene occured which cannot be skipped.. If only i have 15 more seconds, i would've made it {:v)

And i just let the timer ran out again simply because last cutscene in lv 45 ninja "Tough Guys" cannot be skipped.. It takes more than 45seconds (the cutscene itself with additional scene "the soul has giving you more power bla bla bla bla")..
If one is supposed to sitting like a good duck waiting for duty pops, why allow people to change class/jobs when readying duty in the first place?

You need to take into consideration that nothing in this games force you to load stuff more than 45 s with screen loading included. Try to imagine seeing stupid Karasu or that manderville face while the game gives you a strike because you let the timer runs out

It doesn't take a genius to see that this is only impacting the people who were causing the problems which led to this change in the first place. I'd say it's working as intended.

If I have a real life emergency, I have far more important things to concern myself with than being yelled at or vote kicked in my dungeon in a game. Besides 9 times out of 10, random afks are not real life emergencies. The amount of moronic reasons i have heard when people come back without saying anything is enough for brain damage.

60 seconds sounds reasonable to me, but how long before people say 60 seconds isn't long enough they need 90 seconds? 2 minutes? 3 minutes? For some people there will never be enough time.

@OP: is this your job? I see half the complaining threads on gen dis and it's all yours.

The thing with 60 vs. 45 is there are legitimate instances where 45 seconds isn't enough time.

Any more than 60 would be blatantly excessive however.

So there's that, just knowing 60 is a better, more accurate figure (and no higher).
